There’s less than that. The merit list on the psni website hasn’t been updated . There’s most likely around 82 left. 133 a few weeks ago and then 51 went in there a couple of days ago
Someone recently submitted a FOI request asking for how many candidates remain on the 2020 list along with other questions. May take a few weeks for a reply but will hopefully know more then.
FOI answered today today to state
"As of Tuesday 10th August 2022, 139 candidates who applied to the 2020 Student Officer Campaign were considered appointable and are awaiting an offer to commence training"
If you have been keeping an eye on the 2020 forums, you will notice candidates received offers for October intake over the last couple of days, so that will come off the figure above, if it is numbers like 40/50 per intake we should then be down to under 100 candidates left on the 2020 campaign.
Surely the start of 2021 candidates would then be starting G.V around February/March next year?? 🤞

Fingers crossed, I know I'm in for a long wait regardless but would be good to see some movement in our campaign. Heard a few new starts resigned aswell, not what they expected I imagine.
It genuinely surprises me that people going into a “police” role in Northern Ireland resign because it’s not the job they assumed.. what do they expect in this environment

I think there is things about being a police officer alot of us haven't considered. Things such as entering a property where a child has committed suicide for instance or attending an RTC with fatalities, not something you can really prepare for but something some people can't deal with but think will be fine when applying or don't really consider. Also hard work is not for everyone 🤣🤣

Another question- does anyone know much about the vetting side of things and how in detail it is and how are you all preparing for the fitness test?
It’s very much in depth. Socials, emails, finances, family etc
Vetting is fairly in depth, a lot of detail required about social media and immediate family members. Honesty is the best policy, even if you think it’s too much info, it’s not. In terms of the PCA, I was running 5k 4 times a week with a time of around 20-25mins, also was weight training around the same amount!
Vetting is out of your control, dont think relatives etc being honest is a big thing with it. Try to conceal anything and they will reject your application. Family members who have done bad stuff shouldn't affect you (so I've been told) it's all about honesty
Just been offered a job with easyJet, might take it to fill up the gap and hope recruitment “flys” in! 😂
Might as well take it I done an interview for promotion no point passing up opportunity you never know what's coming down the runway 😁

Hopefully that means they can start the engines again on our campaign again. Would be nice to get the ball rolling now considering the previous campaign is not far off being exhausted. Here’s hoping folks!

Because they are old stats. It was 188 a few weeks ago.. also read the 2020 merit list and you will actually know.
