Depends on the context. Will we be working until we drop living under a bridge with this extended life expectancy?
My personal agenda is calling out the selfish incompetence of government. You and your government can ignore and exacerbate all the crises while patting yourselves on the head looking at figures all you like.
So Troy didn't fail to mention one of his houses? The sale details are not disputed by the council?
Politicians profiting off a housing crisis they made worse isn't good, even if not breaking any of their rules.
Well done on turning the thread into a debate about twitter by the way.
With all this FFG technological expertise, this is getting like the Abu thread. :)
Regards...jmcc
If all of that is true, Troy's sin is that he thought that you registered what you had at the end of the year, not including what you disposed of during the year. That doesn't sound like a hill of beans. All that appears to be missing is the last year of every declaration.
To be honest, it doesn't read like a huge issue to me, but I will leave it to the permanently outraged on Twitter to milk it for whatever they want.
Blanch please explain what you mean about me thinking about the implications before I post here. Perhaps your implying something without thinking yourself.
What in heavens name does a completely unrelated event as appalling as it is have to do with what I've said here. I'm being perfectly reasonable, don't need to drag unrelated events into the discussion and baffled at your response.
Have you any idea of the amount of active users on Twiiter, the majority verifed, Twitter is ruthless in its actions regarding any treats of violence. I'm afraid to somehow vilify a SM platform in this manner is unfair and especially when it's completely out of context to this thread and discussion. But I would appreciate if you would stop suggesting, I or any other poster would act irresponsibly when posting on Boards, it's really inappropriate.
Your post has nothing to do with the Troy story
WTF?
Did it happen in some parellel universe? People get death threats all the time via post, verbally and SM, all of those a 'part of the real world'.
What is your point here?
You are both here pontificating that Twitter reflects real life. That is the sort of thing you are supporting.
Jesus, that is just bizarre.
Pontificating 😳 I'm having a, perfectly reasonable discussion about Twiiter and you accuse me of posting without understanding the implications whilst throwing an entirely unrelated matter regarding death threats, seriously, Blanch, most unfair and unreasonable.
“Tiny percentage”?
the platform was been sold and the deal was cancelled partly because of the amount of fake accounts. It is far from a “tiny percentage”
The people you talk about post information but don’t interact with people, if they do it is minimal so they use as a promotion tool and nothing else
Why must we do this dance everytime?
We get it, you don't like Twitter.

That said, have you anything substantial to say about the situation that Robert Troy now finds himself in?
Can the rest of us discuss it then, even if you don't want to?
Any thoughts on the situation that Robert Troy now finds himself in?
Must take note, tweets are back to being bad today!
"Nothing to see here"
The missed SIPO filings are all well and good, but surely the council sale smells a wee bit? Let's not get distracted by adminstration of a declaration.
Again what has a platform with 5% of fake accounts and being sold for €42 Billion got to to with the Troy story, I'd wager, actually I know the vast amounts of tweets on the Troy story are from verified accounts, you may not like the attention it's getting but the people I'm seeing tweet are absolutely sharing the story.
If all of that is true, Troy's sin is that he thought that you registered what you had at the end of the year, not including what you disposed of during the year.
If you believe him, sure.
Again with the twitter. Twitter is a platform. While the volume can be questioned, there are live, real people interested and with opinions.
I trust you'll be as easy going and happy go lucky when a party member calls around to another party member.
Gas man.
Defending a dodgy FF'er and fanboying the FF leader. How far some have fallen.
Back in the day FF/FG could tap your phone or send the Garda around to have a word. They miss that.
Distraction dear boy, distraction. Surely BA's triumphant return now that this story had left The Ditch and reached teh Broadsheets, should have been a clue that something smelly was in the air wrt Bobby Troy.
Discussing Twitter and all the other guff means we aren't discussing Bobby's stinky dealings with Westmeath CoCo.
They are if your Robert Troy 😂
O I know, I'm just trying to be reasonable 😉
Jesus H.
Does the fakery have no boundaries!?
How long did it take to come up with that?
Just looking at the coverage on Twitter of this and it looks really bad for Troy and, by extension, FFG. The one thought that now may occur to people is how many more FFG politicians are doing similar property speculation. The cack-handed attempts to discredit Twitter as a medium are quire laughable especially when the alternative is the FFG-friendly media. When even RTE is covering a story like this, it is bad for FFG and no amount of spin can downplay it.
It's mind blowing the traction its getting jmcc it looks terrible, Leo would be envious of the reactions the Troy was getting if it didn't look so terrible.
Yep. Varadkar was the plonker who walked right into the mess while all the FFers were avoiding it like the Plague. Martin's silence on the issue is interesting. Perhaps he doesn't think that Troy's position can be saved.
I don't know what Leo was thinking, normally very careful and MM seems to playing a Blinder, oddly enough, I'm sensing this is not being discussed as another wink and a nod FF politician, it's very much being portrayed as one government minister. I'd be astonished if Troy survives this, Folks can see what's being reported on the Ditch, but some Tweeter users, who have expertise in other areas, such a property, local authorities, reporting legislation etc are really digging in on the details, astonishing stuff.
FFG can't afford to lose TDs or ministers. Varadkar is just a PR disaster for FFG. If it is not on the script, he's likely to say something problematic. The crowd-sourcing of expertise should worry FFG because with that level of information now in the public domain, some of the media may follow it up. The normal practice for the FFG-friendly journalists is to downplay things and try to discredit the source but the amount of data is overwhelming and even the most FFG-friendly journalists won't want to get caught up defending Troy. The best they can hope for is a "Come To Jesus" interview with Troy.
😂😂 Come to Jesus interview, brilliant.
Some news just in and not from Twitter. Seven, yes Seven corrections Troy has submitted 😳
The minister has been busy making hay! 7 omissions indeed. He should resign but he won't. They are too arrogant now.
Doesn't change the story. Thankfully we are not reliant on the mainstream media to break a story and we have social media to give them a push were needed.
Back in the day, during the Haughey years especially, journalists were afraid, had their phones tapped and Garda sent around. Government can't control the narrative and its a good thing. We just have to watch they don't go after social media....
I do not believe he didn't think that house counted because he had sold it before the year was out. If he does his own books, which I doubt, he's either a fool or a liar for a client.
Like every politician of his ilk we are left to decide if they are incompetent or crooked. These are the only options they leave us time and again.
Politicians dealing in property during a housing crisis of their own making, should be raising eyebrows.
