Likely to show the world the Chinese military is coming to the fore on the world stage , Taiwan, south china sea,and further afield, not that siding up to Russia will get them anywhere,
There's probably a message for Russia in there as well though, along the lines of "Don't try anything funny in central Asia, buddy!" China is likely watching the ongoing rift between Kazakhstan and Russia with great interest, not least because Kazakhstan and the PRC share a direct land border, which always has the potential for conflict. I wouldn't be surprised at all if China would make moves to intervene if Russia were to attempt to re-establish their dominance over Kazakhstan.
China is keeping in with the Russians - just enough to keep in with them and not enough to majorly piss off the Americans..
Trade between Russia and china has increased hugely the last few years ..
And any energy that used to go east to Japan will be hoovered up .. at a massive discount of course ....
Still a few around throwing putinbot insults left right and centre unfortunately. Apparently if you show genuine concern as to this war dropping down the public awareness levels you are a Russian agent or secret Putin admirer now. Logic ain't a strong point for a few 😐️
….
Nah, some on here are Team Russia. Simple as that.
The cost cutting corruption goes so far they've been fitting them with rubber - well it's something I suppose :pac
When the Ukrainians looked under the 'reactive' armour blocks on a captured tank, they found blocks of rubber. This innovation likely paid for a nice property on the adriatic coast with stunning views and a private dock for the yacht.
Could be interesting
Mental that these idiots allow a €2m tank to be destroyed by a beefed up firecracker just because they're too lazy or stupid to close the hatches. I know its warm and uncomfortable but even throwing a log under the hatch to keep it 6" open would have saved a tank and stopped them getting burnt alive.
The PLA have not been in a proper war in 50 years. Aside from border skirmishes with India they have no combat experience whatsoever.
The Chinese need the military drills far more than the Russians do, although russia may see the opportunity to speed up training of some of their as of yet undeployed troops
My favourite bit is when the tank quickly goes on fire and the drone immediately moves vertically up. Like as if the drone operator suddenly anticipated the turret blowing the drone out of the sky.
Interesting article here about a former paratroopers' account.
And 15 gepards delivered with 15 more on way
Are the Swiss still refusing to supply ammunition for Gepards used in Ukraine?
Loads of interesting stuff in that list by the German government in general:
I'm also curious as to what shape those autonomous surface vessels are going to take. I haven't seen anything about those online.
Sorry, only saw your reply after I'd posted my previous reply. Switzerland is still not playing ball. The German government is working with a Norwegian supplier that has agreed to manufacture the required ammunition. Production for that is up and running, which has allowed Gepard deliveries to commence in the first place.
I'm not sure you should call an anti-tank grenade a beefed up firecracker.
"Soviet-era RKG-3 anti-tank grenades"
They 3D printed some some fins and then started dropping them from drones.
The Swiss are some contradiction. They produce and sell munitions, but customers can't use those munitions in times of conflict. If they ran a restaurant they wouldn't allow you to eat the food they'd served you. I doubt if their banks have any problems accepting deposits from conflict zones.
I hope they included this which is a Norwegian Swedish project (there's talk of them already being in Ukraine) Fastest Howitzer in The World - Archer Artillery System - YouTube
Want.
They can be used in times of conflict just not sold or transferred to a third party who are already in a conflict. This is done to protect Swiss neutrality. Their banks have also frozen billions in Russian assets. The Swiss can be criticised enough without having to invent reasons.
Which of course translates as reduced income for Russia, not to mention what they're buying from Russia, means more is freed up on the world markets. Bit like if you squeeze a baloon at one end, it expands at the other end.
They were designed to damage the tracks originally and grind it to a halt. They were never designed to damage the armour and shouldn't have knocked a flitter out of that tank if the hatch was closed. I was exaggerating slightly but they're no Javelin or RPG.
That's Switzerland for you. To be completely fair though, they did provide all the technical data for the ammunition to the new manufacturer in Norway, something they could have very easily blocked as well. Oerlikon's patent for the stuff hasn't expired yet, as far as I know. I guess it's a bit like the Pilatus PC-9 and PC-12 aircraft that Ireland purchased:
Sure, we'll sell you the aircraft, but you'll have to reach out to someone else for the shooty bits. Oh, by the way, here are the specs and wiring for the weapons hardpoints, and that's how the wiring is supposed to look in the cockpit. We hear that those guys over in Belgium produce some really good stuff...
Oh, you want to build some surveillance sensors in the utility aircraft you just bought? Sorry, we can't, we're neutral. But there's a supplier over in Colorado that has specialized in that stuff. By the way, here are the strong points on the stabilizer and fuselage where those sensors could best be mounted...
Nope, all money is welcome including drug cartels, genocidal dictators and corrupt politicians.
