You're on VDSL (fibre to the cabinet)? That works fine for me. In my experience, these sort of issues can happen if the stick isn't getting a good solid wi-fi signal. How far away is the router?
I am a first time user of NOW. I bought a stick with the 3 months sports offer. Its desperately bad constantly failing. I am assuming that its my internet connection as i'm on a part wire connection giving me around 27gigs on average. Is there any point in contacting them, as it stands I will certainly not be continuing my sub. Comments welcome. Thanks.
Out of curiosity, what are all of you peeps buying multiple sticks going to do with the excess ones?
From a sustainability POV, buying of multiple sticks to simply to redeem codes is not good. Whilst a few may be given away, I suspect the vast majority of these are going to simply end up in landfill as they are not worth anything 2nd hand.
But Im not wagging the finger at the Boardsies here either. Consumers, especially now more than ever, will look to save costs where ever they can. No-one loves a good money saving hack more than me. In my view Now/Sky could have quite simply prevented this.
When I used mine to top up my account I thought it felt rather hot too and that was less than 15 minutes after the updates all ran. I will continue using the account through my FireStick, just using the sticks to get the vouchers from.
Would the sticks be reliable to use anyway?
I stacked 3 onto my original account but they all got very hot while only been plugged in for max 10mins. I could only imagine how hot they would be after watching football all day on a Sunday.
Same price as Centra.
That's Sports Extra only, if you pick up the sports pack Now TV sticks it's €15 for a month of Sky Sports + Sports Extra.
When I set a stick up I was already logged in to my NowTV account on the PC, that might help.
It's not showing up through the membership section of the Now TV site, but someone over on the URC thread has discovered that if you google “now tv sports extra deal”, 10 months of Sports Extra is available for €17 p/m.
Not as good as last year, but probably unlikely to come down further.
anyone have an issue with activating now tv stick?
the code on my tv that it says to enter with a pc never works, i tried a few of them now. contacted live chat and they could not fix it, they just said theyd e-mail me when it was resolved (no word since)
i only bought a new stick because the old one randomly stopped working (not surprised based on how hot they get from being plugged in)
Cannot do it from abroad.
You don’t need to set up 6 accounts.
You do have to set up each stick alright but at the end of the setup you can log in using the same account each time and the vouchers stack up on your account.
My subscription to Sky Sports is up next month, I'm trying to add voucher NOWWBXNCJLWQ but keep getting "We're having trouble with vouchers right now". Tried two different desktop browsers, same issue. Any ideas? (I'm doing this from abroad if that might be the issue?)
Just set up 6 different accounts and you're good to go
I've found their content to be shockingly weak for how much of it there ostensibly is. I find it genuinely hard to find stuff just to leave playing in the background.
I had been rolling my subscription out of handiness sake, just because the app was on my tv, but now the app is being disabled, ads are creeping in, and I'm finding outages more common over time rather than less. It's not worth the low price for me, though I can see how it would be if you're mad into sport.
The big advantage it had to me over the dodgybox was that it was two buttons closer to home and it was generally more reliable. Now it's gone to the point the dodgybox is a better experience all around - at least I can fastforward and feckin record something on that.
Perfect, thanks guys
Which is only acccessable through the nowtv.com web page - not in the app itself.
It's a strange business model whereby they put ads on the non Boost version but the Boost version is what your likely to share with a friend or family member and this will then cannibalise their membership numbers.
These ads are a pain in the hoop. Is that 6 month boost code still working?
On your membership page.
Where do you enter the promo codes?
For example, NOWWBXNCJLWQ
I don’t see where I can enter it?
Except that's been happening on the boxsets for the past week, or so. Two to five ads per episode, depending on what series it is. There are ads at the beginning and throughout the episodes. Only one or two in a row, mind you, not a full ad break like on the channels, but still!
For those who asked, no, I don't have boost.
Do you have Boost? My understanding was there would continue to be no ads if using Boost.
I had ads playing before movies today, unskippable too. Cancelled both the packages we had subbed when I realised this is their new norm. We already have to get rode to watch rte player with a tv license, no interest in paying nowtv for the same & it’s not good enough content to justify paying extra to avoid ads.
Are the ads at the start and end of a show, or are they even in the middle of it?
Adverts are coming to both Netflix and Disney+ for the lowest paid tiers.
With price hikes and ads, it just turns people back to dodgy boxes and torrents.
Netflix and Disney+ success can be put down to low prices and no ads.
We've been watching box sets through Entertainment and have also been getting ads for the last few days. It's pretty annoying tbh.
Only a matter of time so as their site says Boost is needed to watch on demand content without ads.

Any luck with any boost promo codes?
