So I'm seeing this morning the hashtag Ireland is full trending on twitter, it has made me think of how this could possibly go!!

Is civil unrest starting to get louder and will it gain momentum? Do you think people will start taking to the streets?

If the recent big cases involving non-nationals happened now, would it spill over into chaos?

Would you be worried if you where a non-national in this country right now?

I was looking at an area I used to live in, and the going rate is 36k a year to rent a 2 bedroom home.

People don't want to live like students, and adulthood has to happen.

You can call it entitlement, or, you can say that we should all accept a lower standard of living than previous, all in the aid of getting more and more people into the country.

Yes, the country is overly full, and it has haywire consequences, it's not a linear problem.

If you want to become a third world country, there's one quick way to achieve it. We're doing fine on that front.

More % social housing does not = free houses for scroungers, unlike the situation here in Ireland.

In mainland Europe you get evicted for rent arrears in social housing. In Ireland you can go decades without paying and f all done to you. 64% of Dublin social tenants are in arrears, staggering numbers. The difference between social housing in Europe and social housing here in Ireland is massive - here the priority is intergenerational unemployed, in Europe its low income workers, who actually pay rent back.

Plenty of immigrants in Ireland work in high skilled industries cause they're the best qualified candidates for the roles. I'm saying that based on interviewing candidates on a regular basis for high paying jobs. So generalizing immigrants as coming to Ireland for welfare is some incredible ignorance.

I'm a "non national" whatever that is. I'm not Irish, my girlfriend is not Irish. We both work and pay taxes here in jobs that were advertised in our home country at jobs expos due to lack of uptake by Irish people. Both are important jobs so we are doing you a favour by being here. Personally I don't worry, I'm working hard and paying my own way and that's all anyone can do. I've had a few comments that we are taking a rental property from an Irish person but tend to ignore that kind of crap. I do worry long term if we might find some hostility but I can't worry about that. We've travelled a lot and everywhere we have lived so far we have never had any issues with anyone over not being a native. That said I don't think Irish people are racist, everyone has been very welcoming and friendly in a way that we haven't had elsewhere. It's just the loudest voices on Twitter tend to be the extremist ones.
