Don't forget there was a scheme this year for undocumented workers living here 4+ years that they could apply for PPS numbers. Then obviously the Ukraine aswell.

That coupled with Brexit, it's no surprise the numbers were seeing.

Immigration is good usually for the economy once it doesn't go overboard.

Its not 140k extra people. Its 140k new PPS numbers. A lot leave also. A PPS number does not equal permanent residents. It was expected that net inward migration weould have been ca. 12k. The Ukrainians are obviously additional, but most will not stay and have no wish to stay

It's no bigger a problem than we've always had in that we are not in a position to take these increases in population.

Out housing, water, electric, health, education, teansport infrastructures have been creaking for years. We have put very little actual solutions into these despite a trending higher population.

The jobs are generally there but everything else isn't. Not suggesting we stop people coming here. The opposite really. We need to reduce the average age of the population to support the economy but we really need to get our sh1t together.on above issues

You think Ukraine is going to return to stability any time soon? Sure even if there was a peace agreement there wouldn't be many returning as "the threat of Russians invading again" would still be there.
