prison style.
It reminds me of a morgue, very homely. 😂
I'd be ok with that. I too prefer function over form, especially when it's yours truly who does all the cooking and cleaning up after.
No, it can be functional without being ugly. I'm talking about squashing appliances into small areas just to be able to put a matching chipboard door on it, or having open shelving which look fine till you have to wash any of the items on them before you can use it, hanging saucepans have the same issue. Or in my own case the reconstituted stone sink I stupidly bought, which is mank central and uncleanable.
The estate agent should be shot with their "wreath iron gates" though.
Also for 'alter' and 'block affect wall' ...
“Wood panelling goes 4m up the wall”
4 ft more like.
Juts a standard 3 bed house, obviously being sold due to a death or someone going to a nursing home. I found pics 5 & 9 a bit moving. The house was looked after very well and you can see it in those two photos. Lots of other details in the house that confirm this too.
@KevRossi It often amazes me at how well kept some houses. It's like they wrapped the place in plastic in 1975 and took it off to take the photos!
Yeah I always get a little emotional seeing houses like that it reminds me of my own mother who the night before she went to the hospice cleaned the house one last time so it was right for the rest of us. People from that generation took great pride in their homes.
I sometimes look at Google Street View and click back to 2009 and see the change in a house.
You can see great cared for Garden with window boxes, etc and then it begins to change when nobody looks after it anymore.
I wonder how much this will end up going for, starting bid €65k. Fairly rural, but the inside looks like it has been worked on fairly recently. I don't think (could be wrong) it needs any work other than a new bathroom (pic 19). A decent bit of land with it too.
flashing on the chimney needs replacing and judging by the damp stains on the fireplace surround, so does the chimney.
New windows all round.
New pump for the well
electricity reconnection.
porch needs to be finished off and weatherproofed.
I'd be very wary of that extension to the side, it could decide to go its own way unless it was done properly.
Money pit in the middle of nowhere. Pass.
So you're saying it needs some work? 😁
I thought the splodges around the chimney were just from the plaster. I think I have seen that before.. The windows looked okay to me.. 😬
I definitely didn't seee money pit.. (but wouldn't know enough anyway).
Small bit of work alright. Or as an EA might say, perfect fixer-upper for the DIY enthusiast.
the windows are single glazed wooden framed. they are likely rotted away to hell and you'd be able to shave yourself with the wind that would run through that place.
It still needs alot of work both inside and outside and quite possibly could be a money pit. The work appears to have been done by a none professional ( at a glance) - it could cost quite a bit to put right.
The roof appears to have been done recently but the finish does look a bit odd.
A landline phone with a sitting chair......those were the days...
...along with the 20m extension cable so the teenagers could have some privacy.....
That's a house that was really loved and cared for. 😊
Balymac is in the middle of nowhere OK but that nowhere is the very attractive Nire valley if you are aiming at tourists, or there is significant shortage of, and demand for, regular rental properties in the area.
As if in contrast, take a look at this beauty..

I love the fact that the front door lets in lots of natural light, especially at ground level. And it has an almost integrated fridge freezer. 😀
Here's a place in Fairview, that used stainless steel counters, as the owner is a chef. Looks pretty nice in fairness.

Oh noes, what if you lost some of those contents? 🤨😂
That's a lovely house.
That's stunning, the conversion and extension were very well thought out. The only downside is the tiny rear courtyard.
The barbecue reminds me of Quagmires big green grill.
Yep, it's one of them alright. I've used one to cook vegetables in the past, and pizza, as I'm vegetarian. 🤣
Shakespear (deliberately no 'e' at the end I guess?) House in Belfast. Former residence of the owner of the Grand Opera House so the name makes sense. Absolutely gorgeous but it needs a lot of love. Only has electric heating and I'd say it needs a complete rewire but my god, just stunning. Decent price too considering how much someone is gonna have to put into it. Fingers crossed it doesn't get bought up by a developer. Hopefully the listed status will put them off.
Wow ( other than the awful carpets) this house still has all its original features. It looks like literally nothing has been changed since it was built. Its beautiful and very rear. Hopefully it will be bought by someone who will restore it sympathetically and keep all the original features. I love it!
Lovely and with 18 acres of woodland for the same price as some houses in Dublin!
lovely house but the decor would make your eyes bleed.
