Savage day on the bike in South Tipp
I expect there’ll be a few photos the next few days. Everywhere will be looking it’s best
Did a longish spin this afternoon and just wanted to say to be careful out there folks. My energy was well down in the heat, and went though my water and snacks faster than I’ve ever done.
But what I love about cycling in this country is that even your local ‘hood, that you’ve ridden many times, takes on a whole new personality depending on the weather. This was my afternoon. But I forgot to take a picture of a gate. Damn it!
Fine looking Ridley in those shots too.
Holiday cycle; quiet Swiss roads
Thanks. Always ridden a Ridley. They’re wonderful machines. They did a nice one-off retro design a few years back in the Belgian national colours
someone really needs to post a photo of a ridley sitting beside a scott.
I'll contact Pippa York and see if she'll pose beside my commuting beater
Gate photo: Huttonread Hse, Steelstown, likely birthplace of Arthur Guinness...
The name of this climb should be obvious!
Kilkenny Castle
The Long Walk, Galway
Glorious morning out for a handy spin
Non cycle related but if you’re still near Sintra I highly recommend visiting the Monserrate Palace.
Monserrate Palace is not in Sintra. When we visited Sintra it was so busy we left and found this place a very nice alternative with none of the crowds.
Is this gate up to scratch ?
Nice, distinct design and riveted.
Get bike driveside out, clean drivetrain and get that saucer off the back wheel 🙂
Will I hammerite the gate while I'm at it 🤔
No but if you got the strimmer out it'd help preserve the bottom bar and heel.
Grass and iron get on a bit too well ☺️
not exactly a classic of the genre.
Nice view, though
i wouldn't mind but i banjaxed myself up it (it's the top of snowtown) in the hope of grabbing a PR but was 11 seconds off. the photo was an excuse for a breather.
Fenit Greenway looking well this morning. Looking forward to the full eventual opening
Went out for a bit of a ramble this morning, and found not one, not two, but 3 gates
The first two photos I was wondering where in Ireland that was. Then I saw the cycle path in the third photo.
Castleruddery stone circle. If anyone even thinks for a moment that this doesn't count as a legitimate 'gate' photo I'll have my buddies from the underworld put the poll geas on your tubes, tyres, your wallet, your manhood even!
your bike seems to be servicing as the gate in that photo...
since cletus upped the ante with three gates recently, i have done so too. though only two are farm gates, but one of the gates comes with an added stile.
I'm sorely tempted to put orange bar tape on the new black bike, but there's no other orange accents on it. I don't know what to do
Also, nice job with the gates, MB
Cycled up past the reservoir in tallaght but it got too hard. Turned back and went up through the reservoir out to the other end and came out at glenmasmol or whatever its called. I just struggle on the hills but it was a lovely cycle. 1 hr 15mins which was a decent spin for me.
I was on the way back down when I took the photo. I'm going to get a rear cassette for the hills as the one that's on it is killing me even on the lightest gear.
