Some small but potent storms kicking off around the country. Worth a separate thread as this risk for big thunder and big lightning is there until tomorrow night at least. All parts at risk this evening but east and south main focus tomorrow.
Thunder near Tralee out by the coast, a few drops.
Convection building showing up well on the Satellite Pic, some nice height on the those clouds.
Same here.
All of those strikes across County Cork are carefully avoiding the city.
Same.
Same, but the time in the quoted post is correct for me though. Looks like people are replying to a post and hour before it was made.
That time thing is another new Boards glitch. It's same for everybody. Can be quite confusing!
I see Dublin Airport had 27.6mm in 1 hour
More Thunder here near Tralee, moving slowly towards me.
Noticed that too. The storm shield over the city is back working :D
Here is a live strike map link showing exactly that:

Will the thunder in North Cork move down over the city?
So far not anyway
Hearing thunder in waterford city
From last night in Youghal
A shot from last night on Sandymount Strand looking towards Dun Laoghaire before it moved out into the Irish sea.
Easily the best thunderstorm I've seen here last night after 10pm, almost constant thunder and lightning for well over an hour. There seemed to be a few different cells imbedded in it.
What a way to fish off a week of stunning weather.
Between it raining in advance of the storm and it going overhead it made it tricky to stand out with the phone and record it. Few half decent phone pics from it.
And a short video my nephew sent me.
Regardless of how many or how few Thunderstorms there are in the country today, the hysteria by Met Eireann/ RTE is disgraceful. I live in Offaly where we had some rain last night and no thunder and lightning and so far today has been a lovely sunny but fresher day with no showers.I really detest the awful shoving into our faces "climate change" agenda by the media, particularly RTE.
Heavy rain now near Tralee, rumbles of thunder getting closer.
A few rumbles in Tramore in last few mins
Looks like a few cells getting themselves together to the west and north west of Dublin (moving south east).
The warning mentioned hit and miss thunderstorms as is the nature with thunderstorms. Overall it was the best thunderstorm activity across the country for many of years. If you read this thread you would have seen plenty of areas had that. The warning was for thunderstorms, there was no mention of climate change in M.E’s warning.
You’re just another whinge bag going out of your way to be offended and following your own thicko agenda of talking absolute bollox regurgitating the same old shite every time there’s a weather warning and it didn’t happen at your house something something sheep something something rte bla bla bla
South Kilkenny-
Started at about 4pm - Heavy rain, lots of grumbly rumbling thunder, a few flashes of lightning.
Still very mild/humid
Big rumbles of thunder and heavy rain around kanturk cork again! Was torrential earlier whilst I was working in ballincollig and it was fine except for some rain.
South Kilkenny has been getting all the action here in Kilkenny, I hope for something for the northern half of the county later, some big clouds around, but it has been a glorious sunny afternoon.
Kilkenny Weather reached 24.5C so plenty of heat around.
Electricity went during the night but was restored very early in the morning, so maybe some strikes nearby but I heard nothing as I was in a deep sleep.
I can hear rumbles of thunder on the north side of the city. There is something coming our direction
@JanuarySnowstor looks like it’s on its way…
Great vid and pics there Lolie.
Biblical rain in Clonmel. My weather station says 20mm in the last hour and an all time record for me of 82mm/hr at 16:02
Of which city?
This weather event is not a weather event but a giant bloody tease! 😉 The entire northern sky of Ballincollig looks like four horsemen are just about to come out of the clouds but the system seems static. I get notifications about lightning nearby but don't hear any thunder...
Hot and sunny in Ballsbridge.
Bar about 20 minutes of heavy rain a couple of hours ago not much going on.
I’m losing hope 😞
Keep an eye on this live map @thomil

Constant thunder rolling in Waterford but just staying to the north of us for now, only 1.8mm of rain last evening and nothing today yet.
