It's all falling apart alarmingly fast for Boris Johnson across the water. How long you reckon he has left as British Prime Minister? Hours surely?
How many parties are they talking about now? I've lost count.

Can we change this thread to "Liz Truss will soon be toast"
As expected it's Liz Truss for next British PM.
Here is what's trending in Twitter in the UK
Rather than trying to spot people in an audience, believe Bloomberg https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-07-11/tories-choosing-uk-leader-tend-to-be-middle-aged-wealthy-white - older, white, wealthy and male.
This weight towards one section of society is what makes their election of the next PM very loaded, not the mechanics of the system per se.
I've no idea what she meant in truth, all I'm saying is the left wing media are interpreting what she said in as negative and damaging a way as possible. All I know is that it does appear to be a fact that the Germans and the Chinese are more productive than the British. Why is that? I've no idea. I could believe the Chinese are overworked, but not the Germans.
And as for the book she co-wrote as another poster was saying, she didn't write the bit in question, apparently.
This has been said a few times in this thread so I took particular note of the people in the audience at the hustings as seen on TV. I saw quite a few people of West Asian and African descent and women in the audience, but yes none of them were particularity young. It doesn't come as much of a surprise to me that joining the membership of a political party would more likely be a passtime of older people.
And I don't get this argument about only the membership electing their leader. Who else would elect the next Tory leader only them. You'd hardly expect the electorate as a whole to vote for the next Tory leader? Or Labour supporters.
If the argument is they are electing the next PM, then that implies that if the opposition/s call for a PM to resign, then they are calling for a GE as well. Anyway, I don't think Labour have a hope of winning a GE, even against Truss as PM. I think she will do better than if Johnson was still PM.
Tory monetary policy : The poor work hardest when they have little to begin with. The rich work hardest when they have a lot.
There are numerous clips out there of Truss not being on top of her brief, mainly because she couldn't be arsed doing the prep work, i.e., she is lazy as ****. Much like her, soon to be, predecessor.
If only they would work all hours for no money with a terrible education and still be world beaters at their jobs.
Bloody poor people.
Of course not.. It's the workers not implementing their perfect plans that are at fault.
"Leadership" are never at fault in the Tory mindset
A part of the issue around productivity is lack of investment. With the uncertainty around Brexit and market access and tarrifs levies on materials and components how can companies invest in new technologies?
Look at the car manufacturers, how can they invest in retooling plants for new models if UK start a trade war?
Interestingly, the plucky Britain making new trade deals led by plucky Liz in her latest Thatcher ensemble forget that the EU tailor it's trade deals to ensure that Britain won't gat an advantage, e.g. Japanese cars will be able to enter the EU Tarrif free.
Is there no possiblity it my be the business owners fault that the business isn't performing ?
She co-wrote a book decrying the British worker as lazy and feckless. It's true to form. I watched O'Brien's video on the subject and it's spot on.
Funny how once the foreigner isn't there, the workers get demonised by the right.
All those things are true , but it's also the fact that the core Tory party membership simply do not believe that Johnson did anything wrong.
As far as they are concerned all that "stuff" doesn't apply to him (or them) - Those are rules and regulations for the plebs.
Its not that surprising really. Members of the Conservative party are overwhelmingly white, male and old. So given the choice between a white man near 60, a white woman in her 40s and an Asian man in his 40s, they picked the old white man, big shock. Its the system thats broken - the two candidates are having to appeal to their audience so we're getting this slew of "if elected I'll ban cross country" type of school election stuff. A few hundred thousand people are deciding the PM of a G7 country of 60 million. Bizarre really.
The audio is pretty clear really.
But rather than you be annoyed about how some parts of the media are covering it, what is your take from it?
IMO its pretty clear what she is saying but you don't seem to think we can take anything from it.
She talks about the voters wanting easy answers and Brexit use of immigrants and EU to blame are those easy answers. When really the UK worker just needs to work harder and smarter.
There is very clearly an aspect of saying that she thinks that the core problem are the people themselves and looking to blame others is the easy and wrong option.
What do you think she meant?
I see Pippa Crerar has shifted from The Mirror to The Guardian, with a scoop to start off with.
This out of context snippet of an audio recording has been interpreted as Truss saying that British workers are 'lazy'.
Based on that recording we can not conclude that is what she was saying at all. It has been highlighted since that British productivity is not on the same scale of Germany and other countries.
This has more to do with management practices rather than the performance of individual workers.
But of course the likes of James O'Brien will jump to conclusions, as well as the left wing media, and do their best to trash her as best they can.
They rattled through the 'group stage' pretty much as quick as they good. I didn't hear much calls for a speeded-up membership vote so this seems to be as long as it takes...
The Tories stopped pretending they even give a fuk about the optics a long time ago
It hasn't had an effective PM for the last few years, the time taken for the election and the result isn't going to change that either.
Bit ridiculous this election is taking so long. Wouldn't matter so much if they were in opposition but when the country doesn't have an effective PM you'd think they'd speed things up a bit. It's not like it's even close.
Standard QAnon-grade stuff that modern conservatism has embraced. Mostly in the US, it's seeping in here too. Education has become the enemy of modern conservatism and is used as a stick to beat liberals and the left with as they can't have people questioning their betters.
Yeah yeah. Sure it's always Labour's fault. Even when it's not their fault.
Slightly ominous for Truss I would have thought. She's taking over a party who are unenergised by her and who don't really rate her.
I bet you have never even met a Labour activist.
Labour are "more snobbish". You honestly don't have a clue if you believe that. I suppose this comes from reading the likes of City of London banker Nigel Farage's bllsht about the liberal elite.
In our exclusive Observer poll, Opinium surveyed 570 members of the Conservative party
Wow. Words fail.
Labour activists have to set their ego and narcissism aside and present a serious option to the electorate.
There is no shame in being elected.
Well this is kind of my point, he'll be chucking a hand grenade into debates from time to time but he doesn't have a strong enough set of beliefs or fundamentally care enough about politics to become a significant influence in the manner of Tucker Carlson.
As always the biggest help to the Tories won't be themselves but the nasties that are so prominent in labour, especially in the activist base of the party.
The Tories just have to be less nasty, less snobbish, less arrogant than Labour, appear even barely competent.
That's on labour.
The DailyFail would be right up the street for the type of critical thinkers that support him. The majority of the top comments on the articles on their sites are still coming from Russia.
