Followers of Trump believe anything said against him is a lie. That's their starting assumption. In a sense, he doesn't even need to make a statement such as this because his followers are already doing the mental gymnastics. I guess these statements are really more about his own ego than anything else.

At the least, it's nice to know that reprisals aren't getting much traction, although it could be that more serious groups are keeping quiet for now, and are holding back until if/when Trump is gotten.
