Good to see Amnesty saying something laudable for once. But as far as I am concerned they will will have to have a really critical assessment of where they stand.
Imho amnesty are done
of all the NGOs you would have thought they been the ones to know better of how Putin’s Russia operates
all of their good work undone by tankies or worse useful idiots deliberately cultivated by Kremlin to get to top of organisation like the one of them who still keeps tweeting pro Kremlin propaganda
Ukrainians build a howitzer from cannibalized Russian parts
Absolutely huge if true, is Kherson about to be liberated ? Massively embarrassing for Putin if it is. The morale boost to the Ukranian forces and vise versa for the Russian murdering bastards could mark a turning point in the war. Also signs that the bastards are planning a false flap operation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, wouldnt suprise me in the slightest that they would try that should Kherson fall.
Saw interesting theory today, nearby nuclear waste storage facility is likely target of this shelling at the nuclear power plant, with aim of damaging/destroying it rather than the operating nuclear power station. This of course would be a radiation incident but at a far more local and lower intensity than the active reactors of the station itself.
However a panic in media after this event would likely spur some form of international intervention at the nuclear power plant, with the aim of bringing in a large artillery range sized dmz possibly protected and enforced by maybe a UN led force. Perhaps the ultimate aim of this is to disrupt the September 11th referendum.
This would massively complicate the Russian military position and give Ukraine valuable time to reorganize/redeploy/train it's forces.
edit: it's not really clear at this point who is obviously attacking that nuclear power plant. Lots of different theories most don't make sense, but I do think that attacking near it but deliberately missing the crucial infrastructure itself with precision weapons is the play here just not sure to what end yet.
There was five massive explosions all within 10 minutes. Could be they realised their c&c ability is shot at current locations and are withdrawing the head honchos to direct from further afield. See no evidence yet of any collapse or retreat with ordinary Russian soldiers yet.
Edit:update
Reports it's the army command.
I'd also add that this looks really bad for optics.
Imagine you're an ordinary Russian soldier on the Frontline and you find out the big lads have fcuked off across the river. Not good for morale at all.
Odd commentary. Rapira is a smoothbore anti-tank gun. It can be used for indirect fire in extremis, but is not what it's designed for.
That thing they did for Russia was a one time deal and it was something critical of Ukraine, not favourable to Russia. This is textbook subversive propaganda, Russia has no chance of getting a positive image so they sow doubt about Ukraine so the people in the west will be like well maybe Ukrainians are just as bad. So even if they publish plenty of criticist against Russia it won't make any difference anyway.
Calls for peace and compromise on both sides, focus on national issues instead of a foreign war, not get involved and maintain neutrality, spreading fear that europeans will freeze next winter, spreading fears of nuclear escalation if the west helps, and now this human rights thing, these are all usual Russian subversive propaganda. They are designed to break the morale and support in the west.
Leaving Enerhodar
Is the whole nuclear power station thing a giant game of chicken ?
The Russians using the station, confident of its protection.. and the Ukrainians shooting closer and closer to the russians ,confident in their accuracy .
And a limited strike on the spent fuel storage may be least worst option...( From a military point of view )
I wonder how many of these lurk in Irish waters without us ever knowing.
It's more of a weapon for Russia to pretend that it 'cares' about the facility in order to pretend to build up some faux goodwill. Knowing Russia they will probably set off a nuclear disaster by mistake judging by the state of their army.
Whatever people think about Ukraine, Russia has exposed itself as an amateur military operation relying on conscripts and putting pro-Russian Ukrainians on the front line, which they (pro-Russians) don't seem too happy about.
So much for the comrades and a Soviet superpower. India must be sh*ting itself filled to the brim with Soviet/Russian equipment. Western weaponry has changed a failing defense into a war that could last a long time. Imagine if French, Finnish, American, British operators were involved.... Russia is out of its depth.
Would not put it past their allies to have caused this trying to drag the army into the war. As they don't seem interested atm.
Let's hope they dont roll the jeeps on the way out.
Kissinger who was much discussed earlier in thread done a complete u turn
He can go jump. No backtracking made his bed.
Welcome to Boards!
We hope you have enjoyed your short stay during your Special Posting Operation.
Will you make it to 10 posts before you, like your Generals in Kherson, withdraw to the left bank?
Does the Russian embassy on Orwell Road not insist a level of fluency in English before letting you go to post almost unreadable nonsense?
No matter how you wish to paint it, Russia has lost already. They are North Korea mark II.
Your real disappointment is that they stayed and fought for their country and have shown the World that the Russian army is a complete joke and Russia itself is a corrupt mafia state.
The real disaster is Russia, have you not realised they have lost yet? You now have the whole of the Western world slowing suffocating you both militarily and economically. Hand on heart I love it.
By the way, Ireland welcomes Ukrainians and are happy that they are safe here. You need to learn a bit of Irish history to understand how we might be a bit more understanding to a people being invaded and terrorised.
Very disjointed thinking
Do you find the assessment of daily scenarios difficult ?
I wouldn't feed the trolls if I were you. I do however suggest that they try 50808 for help
I'm ok with him saying he's changed his mind. Still not going to add him to my Christmas card list though.
Doing a bit of Sunday overtime in St.Petersburg for Prigozhin, are we
People have been posting here about how Russia has "lost" for nearly six months. Afaict, they seem to control a fifth of Ukraine.
residents of Kherson
Notice the guys in the background... they don't take too kindly to the Russian soldier guy walking past. Russia can't even stage a PR photo without it going pair shaped!
Not sure if your serious. When they failed to topple Kiev in the first days they lost. Look at the big picture, they united the West, succeeded in pushing Sweden and Finland into NATO. Germany has overturned their millitary policy, the EU have begun to wean themselves of Russian oil and gas. They Isolated themselves from most of the World and destroyed their economy.
Under any realistic barometer that’s losing. Not advancing in an evasion is losing. Losing is not the same as ‘lost’.
There is that quote which explains it
When the facts change, I change my mind.
Or maybe Kissinger just wants more war.
