This is the thing, you have this grand idea that you're this mastermind of winding people up that you don't even realise people were agreeing with you.
At least we can say the Republicans are responding in a calm and cohesive manner about it
oh
A lot of others seem to think this handed him 2024, because people will still be this upset about a lawfully conducted raid in 27 months time.
Do you agree with everything the politicians or party you support do?
Reportedly stolen from the White House ? There were at least 15 boxes of documents taken to Florida when the Presidential records act doesn’t allow that to happen and hasn’t since Reagan was inaugurated. Btw the Vice President is also bound by the act to keep his records, and whatever else you can say about Mike Pence, he seems to not share his bosses desire to tear up and flush his records and that’s presumably why we haven’t heard anything about records going missing.
Such a traumatic time. Taylor Green must be crying into her Gazpacho.
As long as the Republicans keep split between Trumpers and sane members the Dems must be laughing.
No and as a result I rarely take an interest in Primaries. I was always gonna vote against Trump this cycle unless Biden was proven not only as bad, but worse (and that didn't happen a dot)
For the same reason I remain flummoxed you would support a nominee like Trump this far out from 2024 when all of his spoons are about to come crashing down anyway (the tax returns, the E Jean Carrol lawsuit, January 6, the stolen classified documents, etc)
***
What's funniest about this raid is that Trump was so mad at Comey for being so chill with officials having classified documents at home (Hillary's server) that he hired Chris Wray and his "impeccable credentials" and told Wray I will be having NONE of that kind of tolerance.
And that's exactly what he got. :D
Maybe I mistook what you said which was
"Nothing burger statement. most sensible people would be asking for transparency as opposed to the rhetoric from the GOP.
Infact CNN have been saying it all day"
I thought you were saying CNN were trying to talk the raid down as they knew it was over the top and damaging to the Democrats.
My error.
This, however, I was worried about.
They don't know precisely where to direct it without some ellipse rally to be told to rally at, or towards a target like a Capitol building, but they are letting Trump and Stone and Steve Miller know what their violent disposition is.
Republicans are now trying to rally behind hazy efforts to impugn the judge.
One who was appointed in 2018
During the Trump era
By a Republican controlled Southern District of Florida.
Such audacities as 'refusing to comment on an active criminal case he was working on'
and how dare they give immunity to small-timers in the case to catch big fish like Epstein, Maxwell, or a for-fcks-saking crown Prince?
I like what he says. Not the world police anymore. No jobs for people because of their skin colour or gender etc.
Me wanting him to win makes no difference anyways. I'm just an Irish person without a vote. I have no influence.
It can't be surprising that some people might want to see him win when, what, 70m Americans voted for him last time out?
So we will uphold equal justice under the law for citizens of every race, color, religion, and creed. I won’t be putting forth a nominee next week. It will be a woman. It will be a woman unless, wait, okay, let’s do a poll. Oh, there they are. How many of these have you come to? Speaking of women, how many of, what is this number one? Like 90, they’re great. North Carolina, though. I see them all over the place, they’re great. Anyway, I hope your husbands are okay with it. Are they okay? They’re okay. You have good husbands. But we’re going to do a vote. So I said, I love these free polls because pollsters and most of the pollsters are corrupt as far as I’m concerned. If we believed in pollsters we wouldn’t be here right now. But we’re actually getting very good. We just had a 53 from Rasmussen, which is very good.
Crazy. No, no. I’m just telling you that President Putin and President Xi of China, Russia, China, North Korea, everybody. They are so envious of what we’re doing. They can’t even believe it. If they know, they perhaps don’t know. Under Obama, they knew immediately, okay. Under us, but we are building weapons, all made in the USA. The likes of which no country has ever seen before. And hope to God, we never have to use them. That’s the key, I don’t ever want to use them. Remember, I was supposed to be a guy that was going to get us into a war in the first week. Remember that? Where’s the war? We’re taking them out of Afghanistan. We’re almost finished with that. Working along well. We’re taking them out of Syria, other than I left some behind for the oil, we kept the oil, is it okay that we kept the oil? Is it okay we kept the oil? Let’s go back to my poll. Ready? So we’re putting, I think it should be a woman, because I actually like women much more than I like men, I have to say. No, I do. I do, I like women more. So I have to make a decision, to fill the seat, as we say, we should have a new campaign. Let’s make a t-shirt, fill the seat. Okay? My people are so good, tomorrow, it’ll be all over the place. That’s a good idea.
...
With us, there was none. They made it up. Remember when Shift made the phony speech? Eight times he said the same thing, except that’s not what happened. Fortunately, we had those wonderful people that write every perfect word, every word. I’m glad we had them because we’re dealing with a bunch of thieving bad people. So women and men, ready? Would you rather have a woman on the Supreme Court or would you rather have a man? Ready? A woman or a man. So, would you rather have me choose, this is a very scientific poll. Actually, it’s a lot more accurate than these polls that interview like 97 people have been interviewed, then they charge you a million dollars and they probably don’t interview the people. They sit behind their desk. Would you rather have a woman on the Supreme Court? Yes, woman. Yes?
(... suddenly am reminded of this scene):
Jonathan Turley, Republican Congressman and legal defendant during Trump's first impeachment, reminds MAGA to calm the hell down
“Well, I would be surprised if the White House was given any type of formal notice. That would be highly inappropriate. It would be a violation of a host of policies at the Department of Justice,” Turley responded.
“Obviously, if there’s classified material present at Mar-a-Lago, they have every right to collect it. And the former president has no right to retain it,” Turley concluded.
The rest was 'just asking questions' spin.
You'd think that if Trump had some documents which contained some sort of evidence of nefarious activity, he would have taken them and put them through a paper shredder a long time ago, and not leave them in any location within his Mar a Lago home for someone to potentially find. That would be 'cover your ass' 101.
Unless they were things of value to him, eg. diplomatic gifts and memorabilia. Missing bottles of diplomatic whiskey or whatnot. Numerous amounts of presidentially stamped items I'm sure. Maybe even his **** shirt I hope too, that he uses on the course to roleplay as a current President of the USA
Literally both of these things have already happened, with an FBI, during a Democratic government no less.
These people are losing their **** minds about this raid.
Yeah, but I don't know if there's anything incriminating about hanging on to presidential shirts and seals and the like even if it represents a marked break with protocol, which Trump certainly did not always observe during his time as POTUS. Documentary evidence of malfeasance is what's needed because literal video of Trump, as president, going on the podium on Jan 6th and telling utter lies about electoral fraud apparently is not enough.
I've been thinking about that..
Like you say, if they were simply incriminating to him they'd have long since been eaten or flushed
However, there are two reasons from him to keep documents.
One stuff that is of value somewhere else that he might be able to monetize , but that one I find unlikely.
The second, which is what I suspect , is that he had documents that incriminate other people and perhaps Trump himself, but crucially other people and Trump has been keeping them as insurance policies to keep people onside.
Minutes of meetings where the plan to overturn the Election was discussed that were attended by various Senators and Congress people for example.
Yesterday was the last day they could move against a politician before the election..
It certainly involves things considered classified top secret as well.
Again, it depends on the scope of the search warrants though.........
What Election?
And Trump is not a politician and not currently running for election.
I'll bite, how so?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.insider.com/the-fbis-timing-for-the-mar-a-lago-trump-raid-is-likely-based-on-this-90-day-policy-2022-8%3famp
Trump isn't running for election at this point in time and I have a feeling you read something on a conspiracy site and are spouting here.
I hope @Pussyhands will disavow this segment of the MAGA movement, that they've become a party for 'affirmative action'
"Reward friends and punish enemies" as it were.
Reads like an open call for a political coup of government.
Or, he simply assumed that he was protected and that simply being Trump was enough to ensure that he would never be made to give them back.
I also get the feeling that Trump's ego means that he holds onto them purely because he knows he isn't supposed to have them. I can 100% see Trump leading guests into the special room to see the boxes of confidential material. He may not even know what's in them, just the fact they are wanted back, and he has the power, the only person ever, to take them and hold them.
Seems he miscalculated. I won't be surprised, i fact I think I read something earlier, that really they aren't classified or important or something so really its all just a misunderstanding. To me that signals that he was keeping them mostly for sh1ts and giggles and because he felt he could get away with it.
Because the RNC platform charter is literally "Trump" they could certainly do a lot of "REEEEEEE"-ing about it.
Good point, but if he has any 'insurance' documents, I sincerely doubt he's keeping them at his home. Keeping something of that sensitivity at a residence is a recipe for disaster.
Having said that, if he has documents intended to keep people onside, it hasn't been working as well as he'd hoped, given the number of people who've suddenly decided to cooperate with the select committee's investigation into the events of January 6th.
Given what has already been stated about Trump's actions on January 6th, like how he waited hours to call in the National Guard after the Capitol was stormed, or how he is reported to have said he thought people had the right idea about hanging Mike Pence, what exactly would it take to directly implicate Trump? As bad as Trump is, I don't think he was texting the leader of the Proud Boys on the day or something like that, so if evidence that he was directly orchestrating the attack is needed, I don't think that evidence exists or has ever existed.
Its hilarious. I saw Lindsay Graham say you can't investigate someone this close to an election even though Republicans were rejoicing when Hillary was investigated days before 2016 election over what turned out to be nothing..
Its the same nonsense they used in Supreme Court, oh we cannot vote in someone a year from the election
They really haven't a leg to stand on that they haven't already knocked out with a sledge hammer.
"Apparently few remember all the other times this exact rhetoric was deployed in the interminable list of other Trump investigations, only to backfire later."..
