It's scary to think that anyone running for office that loses in the US can now just resort to the Trump playbook of lies and people will believe it. Trump has done irreparable damage to democracy.
I agree, but the upside appears to be that the efficacy of this approach isn't total and this latest guy isn't gaining so much traction with his claims. Small glimmer of hope in that, maybe.

Nobody here is threatening her (unlike her own threats). Nobody here is attempting to silence get (unlike her own votes). Nobody here is wearing firearms in front of her or her colleagues (unlike her). Nobody here is attempting to make her chosen lifestyle illegal. Nobody here is threatening her because of her race, gender, sexual orientation or identity. Nobody here is attempting to deny her critical medical attention for serving her country with honour in combat. ALL of which she has done and in CONTINUING to do. All of which she CAMPAIGNS on. All of which she is PROUD of and promote. All of which is how she markets herself. So, forgive us if we have concerns about her marketing herself as a person who hates veterans and minorities and the disadvantaged.
I think her campaign of hate, her idolatry of trump is a valid talking point. Can you deny her positions as I have described?

It's hard to spin Boebert's words as anything other than racist. Boebert later said she had called Omar's office to apologise, although Omar denies this. Whether Boebert did apologise or not, she should have more sense and decency than to say the quoted words at all. That's not to mention her hoping that the QAnon conspiracy theory is true and supporting Trump's claim of a stolen election. Her and that other woman, Greene, are a pair of shrieking nutters. At best, they don't really believe what they say and are just two amoral charlatans and at worst they really do believe what they say regarding the above and are just mental.

Ilhan Omar is not an Islamic suicide bomber, so whatever way you look at it, what Boebert was saying was just ignorant and hateful.
If we want to get an idea of how strong or weak Trump's current influence on the Republican party is, it would be worth looking at how his chosen candidates are doing in their primaries for the upcoming mid-term elections. If it's mainly Trump-backed politicians getting elected, it's going to be a difficult argument to make that Trump has become irrelevant.
The problem is that only the best funded candidates can afford a Trump endorsement and by extension are best placed to win anyway.

Graham was on today (after voting against the insulin cap....) to explain in a fairly calm and non-bombastic manner why his "count me out" speech on Jan 6 jives with his support if Trump runs in 2024 - and why he believes nobody wants to hear Trump still complaining about voting irregularities in the 2020 election, in 2024.
But Lindsay also has a habit of being his party's Metronome: he talks both sides of an issue so fluently and schizophrenically that it makes him a pretty decent moderate sometimes, but that also means he goes through ebbs and flows where he keeps the MAGA base ginned up, either for or against him, like a Game Loop, but 'attention span vs. tolerance for this party's rhetorical horseshit' :
