Why would they dig trenches in Chernobyl? Simply put, it’s because they are clueless idiots.
Cant figure this out. We were told the grain shipments were essential to feed african countries. But one of the first ships from Odessa is coming to Ireland with corn to be used in animal feed?
Maybe not human consumption quality but ok for animals, and it was already sitting in the port taking up space they could be used for the transit for human grade grains?
Exactly this, not only what was on the ship but thousands of tonnes need to be cleared first that got contaminated since the blockade of the ports.
Is this not part of the reason that the Russians are literally stealing Ukrainian people?
"He said that soldiers like himself could leave at any point and were never forced to fight against their will. However, he was reluctant to leave his friends as they had a better chance of surviving by working together."
According to the military historians, this is what keeps units together in combat. Forget political figureheads or ideologies, at the front the soldiers are fighting for each other, and this is probably as true for the Taliban as it is for the U.S. Marines or any other military corps.
"The closer you get to the front line, the fewer abstract nouns you hear."

"Once you get out there and you realize a guy is shooting at you, your first instinct, regardless of all your training, is to live. … But you can’t turn around and run the other way. Peer pressure, you know? There’s people here with you that have probably saved your life or will save your life in the future; you can’t back down. "
- USMC Vietnam veteran
War is awful
I could well and truly see why the Ukrainians would shell it ... Especially if they're confidant ( rightly or wrongly ) in their aim . They're trying to get the Russians out .. and if the Russians are lying awake at night looking at what they're using for defence .. and not so confident in the Ukrainians aim ..
As to why the Russians would bomb it - kinda the same thing- pressure on the Ukrainians ... But with less accuracy..
Yes indeed, it's unlikely that Amnesty International have 'gone rogue' or have been infiltrated by the Kremlin. What it does suggest though is there are one or two absolute idiots at the top who haven't a clue about how the real world works. Virtually anyone would have seen huge red flags when they heard that AI intended releasing a report criticising Ukraine and blaming them for the deaths of civilians killed by Putin and would have tried to warn them not to release it.
Worth listening to Thusday Joe Duffy liveline on playback where our young Irishman in question was talking for about an hour. I'd suspend belief, pending independent verification of any of his story. The same chap also seems to have some curious links to right leaning military youth group here.
Virtue signalling executives with mostly an eye on their funding streams I'd think. That's the first priority in any of these organisations - protect your core funding, so you can pay all the staff in the manner they've become accustomed to.
Lots of people have pointed out that the authors of the report don't even seem to understand the rules of warfare or what the Geneva Convention says about targeting of civilians. Not only was the report ill judged, it was factually inaccurate (i.e. the thing they were accusing Ukraine of was bogus).
So, Amnesty think that locating Ukrainian military assets in civilian areas will cause the Russians to think twice about shelling ????
Nonsense
Edit: I phrased the above really badly, I meant to ask if Amnesty really believe that the Ukrainian military would expect to enjoy any safety by being in civilian areas.
Yet no report on Russians locating ammo and firing artillery from a nuclear plant
Absolutely, It is complete nonsense as if the Russians give a fook about civilians.
Here you go buddy
Russian engineering kills its own, many videos like this
You just never know. Its a valid point.
In some ways, some of you guys are fighting your own proxy war here on Boards.ie
You obviously haven't seen Top Gun 2!!
Unfortunately I think Russians are hard wired to have a despot leader at the top of their political system. I don't think they can ever fully embrace democracy. It's just not in their DNA.
How far away are these drones, and how small and quiet? It's amazing how the guys on the ground never seem to notice them, yet they must be fairly big to fire such powerful rockets. Also like the one that killed Zawahiri in Afghanistan the other day - they seem to approach undetected.
And yeah, the human ability to find new and smarter ways to kill other humans is brutal and depressing.
Drones from Iran and now soldiers from North Korea
whats next
The Daily Mail, FFS!
If you count how many seconds it takes for the missile to reach the ground you'll get an idea how high they are. I think some of them are octocopters.
What part of the video from russian state tv did you miss
Come on, she obviously wanted to water down the report for internal Ukrainian political reasons. Fair play to Amnesty for not going along with it.
What’s your theory, that she had evidence to debunk their report but that Amnesty International wanted to publish their “lies” just to give Putin a much needed morale boost ?
Remember when Russian tv made big deal out of dozens of thousands of Syrians joining the war? I remember
not a single one did
North Koreans sending soldiers would result in even more weapons sent by Americans who would laugh at this opportunity to kill two birds with one HIMARS stone
Problem will be to get them to Ukraine, just like the syrians.
Thats doesnt mean they are not ready to be deployed
Only thing stopping them is transportation
The training and professionalism of these soldiers is another story
The idea that a single person from North Korea would want to go to Russian occupied Ukraine voluntarily seems far fetched (not unless they saw it as a chance to escape from there to the West).
If they have family in north korea it would be hard not to return
