They are not part of a global solution. The are part of a political solution that appeals to the dimwitted and ignores major problems like China and India building coal fuelled power stations and huges swathes of the Amazon rainforest being cut down so that moronic believers in the secular climate change religion can virtue signal by killing a few cows in Ireland.
All this idiotic virtue signalling won't have any effect unless a global solution is implemented. The planet's climate system is a highly complex one and the idea of an average change in temperature might appeal to the dimwitted but the reality is that some areas will have an increase in temperature and others will have a decrease. This will, of course, be ignored because the morons in what is basically a millenarian doomsday cult, don't understand something as simple as an average.
The Earth's atmosphere is big. It is very big. It also moves around a bit. Some virtue signalling cuts on a small island of the coast of Europe will be quite meaningless if other, larger regions don't make similar changes. This might be too complex an idea for you.
This is what the virtue signalling will result in: dead people. Those people will be dead because the food to keep them alive will not be grown and exported. It will mean more famines and more pictures of dead and dying kids. Enjoy your MERCOSUR burger. They'll pay for it with their lives.

Well if you are going to give out about the government wrangling over the issue surely you have an opinion on what the target should be.

It is like the last day of a primary school class before the Summer holidays for this clown car of a government. They won't stay and sort it out. The Turf War defeat was a hit for the credibility of the Greens. Losing on this one would be a major defeat. There might be a concession of 2% to make it seem like a win but FF/FG realise that this is a major vote loser in rural constituencies. I'm not sure that Ryan wants to walk. He's probably too busy sleeping. There could be a problem from the more Leftist Greens rather than the "FG on bikes" Greens. The interesting thing is seeing John Paul Phelan's and Barry Cowen's comments. They know it is a major vote loser and SF has not been drawn into the mess. This is an FFG problem and no amount of deflection is going to change that.
