There's talk that she has too many connections to the hard right / far right. She's the favoured candidate of the ERG, the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph love her, she's backed by Frost and Braverman, apparently she met up with some dodgy alt right groups when she was in the US etc. Mordaunt and Sunak have been paying lip service to being hard right Brexiteers, but Truss seems to be the real deal.
If anyone was listening to Mick Lynch from the UK Rail Workers Union this morning in the tv shows in the main UK networks, it would put the fear of God to workers throughout the UK. Truss will do so much damage to the rights of workers and their ability to strike to seek improved rights, pay and conditions
Truss is talking about highly disruptive strikes, that is strikes (and protests) that cause the general public to suffer on a grand scale due to the action. You are over-blowing what she is proposing.
And anyway as it stands Mick Lynches demands such as a guarantee to never reduce staff numbers no matter what, is completely ridiculous. And Labour aren't supporting the strikes either.
Mostly she will be useless and change nothing at all I reckon. She might talk about it but that's all.

Fundamentally though , that ability to denude the rights of workers in favour of the rights of share-holders and owners is one of the key planks of Brexit for large swathes of its backers.
They love the idea of being able to enforce all kinds of restrictions on workers rights in the name of profit.
AS long as the Tories are in power this will be the goal , regardless of who in the PM.
The only difference is that Truss will do it without any hint of subtlety or guile whereas Sunak would likely be a bit sneakier - But they both want the same thing.
Is she really that much of an ideologue though? Once she gets the keys to no. 10, is it not likely that she will allow herself to be guided by her handlers to adopt centrist policies designed to maximise the Tory vote at the next general election?

Trump did so much damage to workers rights, while enhancing the rights of employers throughout his presidency in the US, Truss will do the same if not worse if she gets the keys to Number 10 Downing Street. As much as we like here in Ireland to look with glee the self destruction of UK and their economy, it will be a deeply worrying development for ordinary workers if Truss does implement some of her nasty bits of her manifesto including making strikes by workers "illegal".
We have seen how right-wing and hard right presidents and Prime Ministers in the world have done to damage the rights of workers, particularly low and middle income earners. Orban in Hungary and Bolsonaro in Brazil are two such prime examples of this.
I'm not saying that Rishi Sunak will be less of a threat to workers rights, if he becomes PM, he also will try to make it harder for enhanced workers rights. But Truss prides herself as a Thatcherite role model and we don't need reminding of Maggie's destructive, provocative and dangerous right-wing policies on ordinary working families during her PM years.
If the Tory electorate thinks that Liz Truss is PM material, then that's their choice. But if Truss goes down the road of acting the "tough baddie" to workers and their unions, she will find very quickly that there will be major pushback from workers, their unions and civil liberties groups. And then to excuse the pun, the gloves will be well and truly off.

She's very much a Thatcherite neoliberal, well, insofar that she's anything. Cutting taxes means cutting the state which means levelling up is essentially dead along with more local services and resources. Meanwhile, the red tops will be wailing about remoaners or something. It's like being stuck in a timewarp.
And there lies the irony. They want a remainer who constantly changes her narrative when it suits and doesn't truly believe in anything she says. In the BBC debate the other night when asked if she would keep Boris in cabinet you could immediately see she was uncomfortable and couldn't outright say "no".
Truss talking about taxing "ordinary people" is interesting.
Where is she going to go for the funding for her plans? Tax the rich? I doubt it.
It won't be long before she starts with fancy names for new fangled taxes she'll need to create. Universal Social Charge anyone?
The main problem is the party has been taken over by hardliners : Johnsonites, ERG, hard right etc....anyone going off message would be seen as potentially treacherous or a troublemaker. Truss appears to be the anointed one and the favourite of the ERG types and the right wing press.
Someone was always going to take the flak for bringing him down and Sunak was an easy enough target and justifiably so but lets be honest, most wanted rid in the end. Its an easy way out to blame someone but they're not all without faults but I think their basis is flawed compared to others.
I suppose these debates outline the disaster the Tories have been
David Gauke was saying yesterday that a lot of the Tory disciples are not too happy about the way Sunak effectively stabbed Johnson in the back by resigning (unlike Truss).
Except there's a second round of voting. Well sort of.
prominent Truss backer Iain Duncan Smith said the new-style voting system – which allows one online vote and one postal, with only the latest of the two counting – will “create nightmares” by introducing a “complication too far” to a campaign lasting longer than a general election.
Pretty much a foregone conclusion at this stage. Ballot opening next week and most will vote straight away. It seems Sunak is going to lose on "trustworthiness" and his "inability to lead" which is pretty ironic considering what the party stands for and who they'll vote to win.
The Tory party are not governing and are still paid by the taxpayer. They are navel gazing
