Surely the likes of McCaffrey and Mannion will be motivated to get Dublin back to the summit again. There's also a concern that if Dublin appoint a high calibre hurling manager Con might throw his lot in with them.

McCaffrey and Mannion won't be back regardless who is managing. Jack hasn't played much for Clontarf in recent years and now in Africa.
If Con was going to hurl for Dublin would have done by now. He is now vice captain for footballers so will probably captain team when James McCarthy retires in next couple years.

From listening to Paul on the radio it's fairly clear to me he is finished with inter County. Colm Basquel didn't make much impact at inter County we need to move on from him .It looks like we have to start a serious rebuild now we can't expect lads that have been around for years to keep going . It looks likely Kerry will win on Sunday and that should give them a big boost and difficult enough to shift next year .
There was rumour of fallout between Dessie and Mannion but Paul wouldn't strike me as type of man to leave panel because not starting. He did say in recent interview the demands of intercounty game was too much.
Basquel should be in his prime and if on form would have centre forward against kerry last week. Has the talent and would have good option to have. Likes of Ryan Basquel and Aaron Byrne wouldn't have been near the squad when we were in our prime. Lorcan O'Dell is one for the future.
It wasn't publicly announced . He played first game against Offaly in OBC and never appeared after that. He came off bench in Ballyboden first league game which first indication he had left the panel.

Not sure of any truth in it. The rumour says Mick Bohan and Clucko will be selectors and Mannion will return to the fold.
Whatever about Darcy becoming the manager I find the others stories nonsense regarding who be returning or in backroom team.

Would dublin go for horan? He wouldnt be a bad shout. I think he would suit dublin actually.
Re mcmahon, he is knowledgeable but maybe a bit too divisive a character to manage the team I would think. Also far too soon, he would know 90% of the players well.
Logically if Dublin was not Dublin Horan would be the choice if he wanted it. He would at least have a consistent free taker and a top notch forward for a change!
But that last time it was looking like a ‘foreign manager’ would manage Dublin there was uproar. The 1970’s Dubs went mad in the papers. And Mick O’Dwyer withdrew as the Dublin job candidate because of it. That was back in 2004.
The real irony is Dublin won Sam the year that above article was written in 2011. It was written in July of that year. I love the line from Dwyer -

I think horan would take it, personally. Would you not fancy him managing dublin? He is probably the best candidate out there.
A bit concerning that there appears such a shortage of choices regarding a new manager if one is needed especially with the club champo starting shortly and a rebuid for the team needed.

Galway gave it a decent shout however going by today saying Kerry will dominate may be a bit premature they won today and that is all they could do but they were no great shakes and we could bridge the gap with a couple of tweeks next year anyway we will see .

I don't really think there is a gap. A 75th minute last gasp winner is all that seperated the sides. Kerry have one brilliant forward. O Se is decent but again not great from play today. Dublin will have a great chance against Kerry next year. Like they did this year.
