What I can't get over is they will be getting rid of the ATM's at those branches too. The rural Post Offices will become armed robbery targets with the cash being diverted to them.

Is it just me (and I'm not that new here) or was yesterday's Lahvlahn one of the most chaotic in recent times.

The lady whose father was killed on the M50 - questions all over the place and it took about seven minutes to wrap up the interview, with loads of tanks, God bless and goodbyes. I thought she was quite good and composed and didn't get dragged into the Duffy macabre gutter.

The quoting of 'Finders Keepers' court cases from fooking hundreds of years ago - droning on and on about them.

And his phone or eye-pad going off every so often.

It's like he's not able to concentrate on who he's supposed to be talking to at a given time during the show. Very little focus at all.

It may be partly the production fault but I think his application to the gig has actually nosedived.

Maybe it's been like this for a long time, it just seemed more pronounced yesterday.

he was in a very giddy mood. the complete opposite to Tuesday. It was a strange episode of an already strange show

It’s been like this for a very long time. He’s completely unprepared for any call that the producers make, waffles away as nauseum, will call the person who was called by the wrong name frequently, asks questions that have already been answered as he’s completely all over the shop and has the attention span of a goldfish, insists on making childish and silly puns at every opportunity no matter what the topic, and lately has been audibly burping and farting his way through shows so much that he doesn’t even attempt to hide them anymore. On top of this he is the most biased host of any radio show in the country and is variously rude or a complete pr*ck to anyone who dares to disagree with him and his at times bizarro-world logic. And that’s before we mention his butchering of the English language and I believe deliberate and “unique” pronunciations of certain words and particularly placenames. He is an utter fraud with his man of the people act and an ignorant man in every sense of the word. To think he has a job in the national broadcaster at all let alone one paying lottery prize fees is a mystery only NK can answer.

At what point does he become a liability for the RTE Board and management?

When/if his listenership nosedives? When/if he costs the company a lot of money (Licence fee payers money) in a big defamation case?

Would there be any planning for a transition to a new Liveline host in the coming years, I wonder? Or is that to give the goons in RTE management too much credit?

It really sounded like a schitshow yesterday. Sadly, it seems to be good enough for listeners and RTE.

it's the shítshow people listen for. someone like katie there permanently and I think the numbers would nose dive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,482 ✭✭✭Expunge

That's a fair point, I suppose. Probably the same with the Nolan Show on Radio Ulster, although I never hear it. Morbidly obese men getting nutters fired up on air.

i did not hear any radio commentary of said match, no doubt RTE rugby commentator Michael Corcoran put the success down to the Munster contingent.

btw 25% of the current squad born outside of Ireland.

He’s had numerous cases costing hundreds of thousands. His show has practically zero ad revenue and currently has no sponsor. The cost of the show (even without his outrageous fees) with so many producers and researchers etc. mean there’s no way it’s even coming close to break even and yet he ploughs away with the same crap on a daily basis unchecked or unsupervised and with no consequences for the absolute sh*t show he turns out quality-wise. And that’s before we mention FunnyFryday.

With the recently revealed salary of Jenny (wife of Ray) at €150,000 per annum for producing his show we can take it that Fungus would have been on the same if not more…..and Joe has a suite of producers and researchers so God knows what it costs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,482 ✭✭✭Expunge

I think that business about Jenny whatshername being on 150,000 is probably overstated BUT what he did do was to arrange for both her and Will whatshisname and possible AN Other to come with him from Today FM, bumping up the cost of the whole deal considerably.

I can never understand whoy the heavily unionised producers at RTE allowed these lads to be parachuted into to these highly sought after and carefully guarded positions. Now, RTE just hire from Newstalk every few years - no need any more for expensive training producer training courses.

Google “Kate Fitzgerald and The Communications Clinic” before you big up Savage.

Or what’s left of said information - worth googling in itself.

I see AIB have done a U-Turn on their cashless branches bit of kite flying.

I'd be surprised if Joe doesn't steam in and take the credit for this somehow

I missed de show yesterday due to being at a funerdal, where there was more joy in remembrances than to be found on any Lahvlahn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,115 ✭✭✭mumo3

I know yesterday was more of a shitshow than normal, in regards of direction.... but is that not the reason we all tune in?

I know everyday tuning in, its either going to be a shitshow or its going to produce gold!! The odd time it actually makes my blood boil, but hey, still a tune in, just so I can chat to you lovely folk 😎
