The doctor told me on the day. Were you not told you passed she told me 20% fail the medical.
Yeah they told me on the day
Cool, yeah I was told all was good on the day too, was just wondering if HR confirmed it or not
20% is a fairly large failure rate! I got chatting with a driver that started last year, and he said quite a few fail the medical on the drugs test.
On one of my routine medicals a number of years ago the CMO told me that 30% of applicants were failing mostly because of prescription drugs of the mood altering kind, not recreational drugs
So things like anti-depressants, or anti anxiety type meds?
Yup and the older age profile was more prevalent according to the doc
HR don’t confirm if you passed the medicals they will just go to the next stage which is references. once you’ve got that far, you won’t hear anything from them until they have a class to offer you. Hope this helps.
Surely HR let you know if you haven't made it past interviews though, right? And ask for your references then if you have. I was offered medical ahead of both interviews myself, but had to defer it.
Does anyone know how long people have been on the panel, that are currently due to start the course in August? I know Dublin moves faster than down the country.
So if you have failed the interview phase they will let you know, I made it to interview phase early 2020 and failed. They let me know within about two weeks.
as far as the waiting period goes, I reapplied mid 2020 and I am starting the dart class mid august, so the wait has been quite long
best of luck with the medical!
Just got the email to say I didn’t get through the line manager interview. I gave it everything and am well qualified for the job so don’t know where I went wrong. Devastated I wouldn’t do it again. Best of luck to anyone that’s left.
Ah sorry to hear that. It's a good level to get to, and worth applying again if you get the chance, as you'll have more experience of the process.
Ye, anything with Codine in it and mood suppressant tablets. They will give a false reading for class A drugs.
If you applied for that job then you should already have experience in the role.
It's a urine test, right, rather than bloods?
What's the alcohol test like? Do they just test your level at that particular point, or is a full blood liver function test?
Just tested at that particular point mate
Hey lads. Just FTI, I passed all tests for train driver. Did medical and interviews last year. References checked too. Still waiting! Not Dublin based though, so still don't know!
Same here, nearly a near here too!
It's mental. They couldn't get things done fast enough last year, then just nothing. I did contact them and they said all is good, no further action required at this time! Lol
It seems the further west your depot the longer the wait 🙁
There is a liver function test too. They test a bit of blood in some machine and tell you your liver function on the spot, well they'll only mention if it is high.
only bit of blood they took from me was for a cholesterol test that’s all :)
They test liver function.
Why would they test liver function? Would that be a way for them to see whether you like alcohol to much or something?
Say so, mine was high last time purely because of alcohol the weekend before. I'm no doctor but I'd imagine they are checking to see if liver function is low or high without alcohol...
Did anyone who had line manager interview this month hear back?
Liver function can show up hidden underlying health conditions.
Does anyone know the shift patterns for CSO from 1 week to the next. Thanks.
Have a medical next week. Very nervous as my bmi is 31. which is 1 point into the obese category. Anyone know if there is any wiggle room on this? Or is it an automatic fail?
I don't think it's an automatic fail but they might tell you to lose weight, I could be wrong. I think this was brought up earlier on the forum here.
