Because the government was criticised and you went straight to the opposition as if the critics were members of the opposition. I quoted your comment. It would do government well to address criticism rather than the perceived critics. You seem to believe every critic is the opposition parties.
So you attacked for something he never claimed and now you are saying well he sort of did. Touched a nerve?
If you followed the discussion it wasn't about the government, FG was the topic of choice as normal.
You accused me of "can't separate the opposition from the general public"? so what exactly are you talking about?
Just in case you missed it this is the part of the post I responded to.
But of course the Main Source of Convenient Sources of information is the Impressive FG communications and SM Unit, we know very little of its make up but certainly see it in action almost Daily, most notably on that dastardly Twitter and of course in media circles under the Guise of "Unnmaed Sources" 😏
Senior Government ministers, in particular in FFG very slow to come out in public to condemn AIB for their provocative decision to make a fair chunk of their branch network "cashless". Very revealing that the horrible bank only targeted rural and the West of Ireland branches. No changes in the East of the country. Where is Leo V and Paschal in all this?.. oh yeah they are the ultimate bankers best friend. Don't forget that AIB sold 4 billion euro of their "distressed" loans portfolio to FFG friends, the vulture funds along with their private investment buddies last month.
The culture in the banking sector continues to be putrid, no changing them despite the help of hardpressed taxpayers bailing them out during the last financial crash and came begging to us to dig themselves out of a hole, of their own doing. But with the government and in particular senior ministers like the Tanaiste and the finance minister continuing to pander to the bankers, then once again the close link between politicians and bankers, like with FF and the banks during the Celtic Tiger years, will mean that the best interests of those struggling to pay their loans, and been threatened with home repossessions will be a afterthought for the political and banking "elite".
Ahem
Leo lying on TV, no shame at all
Multiple multiple articles from Taoiseach on this. They are also looking at emergency meeting to discuss this from AIB.
Sorry just seen someone added one from RTE.
Personally I have used KBC for years and they have no branch offices so this is not a huge surprise, AIB will point to that, the difference is KBC clearly targeted an online model only in Ireland and is not one of the banks the government kept up and running during the crash. That is a huge difference and AIB/BOI and PTSB cannot leave customer who depend on local branch's high and dry to save money.
The government should step in and make sure this is not allowed because if AIB are allowed to get away with it then the rest will follow.
AIB 645m profit last year, so they can't complain
How exactly are the Govt going to stop AIB from doing this?
They will do what they want and the Govt will do nothing apart from shout loud about ut
Let's wait and see
Sometimes, such a source can be more useful than a politician who is trying to put their own spin on things. People often talk as if cleaners or other staff are not there and will be less concerned about what they say. The hard part, for a journalist, is in validating the information.
In other cases, an unnamed source may be putting themselves at risk to get a story to a journalist and the journalist has to protect them. Getting back to the FF meeting, FFers may not want their name on a comment but will provide background information that could be useful. There was a major attempt to downplay this meeting as not being "secret". Then the line of rubbish about backbenchers wanting to discuss policies was floated. Not even the most dedicated FFG supporter believed that one. What makes the whole FF meeting important is that there are senior members of FF (McGuinness, O'Cuiv, O'Dea) who have gone on the record with comments.

At 3.15 approx today, when was the announcement made, I'll grant him there's a time difference we're he he is at the moment.
BA says Multiple, Multiple articles from Taoiseach on this, Really 😳 I seemed to have missed them, along with others, hope they are not from, Unnamed Sources and reputable outlets.
Google "taoiseach on aib cashless"
No idea how you missed them, nearly every single media source on the island has an article on it.
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I quoted you, its very clear. Criticism was made and you start on about the opposition. FG are in government. We can leave it there its not that important.
I heard reference to it to be fair. The leader of the government said AIB should think about their plans. Seeing as we own a large share in AIB surely he could throw his weight toward getting them to reconsider? I know they don't have to pay certain taxes for 30 years and we bailed them out, so I think putting the public above profits isn't a big ask.
I don't need to I've checked press publications where I presume you think there's Multiple Articles 🙄 I don't use Google as my news source, not very wise thing to do.
Personally,, like yourself, I used KBC, just winding down my account actually and given Bank Branches don't particularly want to deal with customers anyway and the fact AIB have facilities at P/O its a lot about nothing. Business owners may face challenges however, particularly those who have to handle a lot of cash.
It's kind of Ironic actually, Heather Humphries and her awful colleague desperate to shore up P/O network , including paying post masters 12k each PA as a gesture and AIB being lambasted by An Taoiseach and other politicians despite AIB actually throwing customers in the direction of P/O. Bit of a contradictory Kerfuffle.
I'm actually amazed there's still a bank branch network in Ireland if I'm being honest.
i accept your apology
So you are going to blame them regardless.
Didn't you disappear when I asked you about your own ideas on inflation?
You can't blame FG
Please read posts and stop lying about them.
Top class 😂😂😂
Mind boggling, anything for a disagreement, I admire those with the stamina and patience to respond to continuous nonsense. Hard to ignore yes, but strangely satisfying 😉
I posted on here about fake webpages involving Leo so that Boards know it's happening. They may not want their brand tarnished and they could mention this to Google. It's not a sinister plot that involves the FG communications unit.
Why do you keep putting 2+2 together and getting 5?
Boards has a feedback forum....
😂😂🤣🤣 thanks for making my day.
Anyone for another Data Centre?
I think this confirming that turf needs to be banned ASAP...look at the numbers below. The CO2 numbers for peat are extremely high
The biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Ireland is CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels by the non-ETS sector, for example in homes and cars. These made up 39% of all greenhouse gas emissions in Ireland in 2020, and 49% of all non-ETS greenhouse gas emissions.
Ireland is unusual compared to other EU countries because greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture make up a much larger share of our emissions. In 2020 agriculture was responsible for 37% of all greenhouse gas emissions, and for 47% of all non-ETS greenhouse gas emissions.
Other greenhouse gas emissions in the non-ETS sector, for instance from refrigeration or from landfill gases, made up 3% of all greenhouse gas emissions, or 4% of non-ETS emissions in 2020.
Companies in the ETS were responsible for just over 20% of Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions in 2020.
Peat is 3191ktCO2

This was announced today
Another post in that Twitter thread pointed out that Ireland had experienced massive population growth due to immigration in that period so it is not all down to data centres.
No apology tendered. I accept you operate in a different realm. Shine on.
See? Data centers raised, you read 'turf'. We were in danger of blackouts less than a year ago. Do you think more data centers is the way to go? Or maybe talk to your TD about turf?
Lol , banning Turf is the Solution, I'm beside myself with laughter 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Again you are lying. No poll backfired. The public spoke and did not want an election now. I can respect their wishes can you?
Did I say it is the solution?
Looking at the numbers of Co2 from turf for the very few people that use it confirms it should be banned now.
As normal on this thread, something is fired in with some faux outrage. Once a solution is presented then it shot down because it doesn't suit someone. No interest in resolving problems in Ireland, just having a moan about anything and everything
CO2 is high. Then get rid of high CO2 output like turf.
As I pointed out the government has launched a number of items today to help
It is not just CO2.
Just like in the mica crisis, we will have a huge group of upstanding Donegal citizens suing the State in 30 years time because they all got cancer when the government didn't ban the burning of turf when they knew it was bad.
I have been telling me on these boards for quite a while that rural living as practiced in Ireland is unsustainable as the pattern of self-built dispersed housing will not be supported by services. The private sector retail was first to move out, the banks are following, and public services will eventually have to follow, but that may take another recession. If you live at the end of a lane, 30 miles from a decent town, you will not have any sort of service in years to come.
