I think you could fairly describe every newspaper as 'dubious' using that criteria.
Is there a newspaper you hold in higher regard?
Has anyone denied a party will have a media department or if you want to call them "communications unit"? I havent seen anyone
Difference is how parties use them, some for news stories to promote the party, facebook videos, tweets to update supporters etc etc.
Then some parties use them for troll accounts, fake accounts, abuse of TD's online, abuse of opposition supporters online, sock puppet account and all that sort of carry on.
Like this?
PR consultant in Twitter row admitted using anonymous account to criticise Fine Gael - Independent.ie
or what about abusing TD's
Online abuse by Fine Gael member is ‘unacceptable’ (irishexaminer.com)
How about this?
Green councillor quits party citing culture of tolerating personal abuse (irishexaminer.com)
There's more if you want to seel them. All members of current parties in government.
The people who get up early......to spend all day whinging on social media 😂

No, not really. Some do have a higher overall standard of writing, NYT is about the top end of things for me but even they have gone down in the gutter at times. IMO, here the IT is a level above the other two nationals but equally not averse to nonsense as well. COVID has taught us to filter out the crap and spot the clickbait quickly.
??
Covid?
How did Covid teach you to filter out 'clickbait'? Seems a bit late to be recognising clickbait.
Clickbait comes in many forms these days! Opinion pieces masquerading as fact has grown exponentially.
'Opinion pieces' are by definition and design 'clickbait'. If you agree with the 'opinion' or are predisposed to agree, you'll click on it or read it. If you buy the IT or the Indo regularly, you are predisposed to the opinions inside. I.E. Indo was always a paper predisposed to FG, The Irish Press to FF, the IT to those who felt they were above party politics etc.
Not sure what the big reveal here is that things have changed since Covid. Any examples of things you wouldn't have seen before Covid?
😂
I am sure you tried to convince everyone on another thread that boards is now full of sock-puppet accounts for FG when a little poll back fired on the opposition supporters. That was hilarious.
The difference here, which you seem to be struggling with, is that this is not a campaign run by the party. This is an individual copying what they have seen. As you are fully aware we have parties in Ireland who has run an organised campaign of online abuse v parties/TD's/supporters for years now. This includes carry on like sharing spreadsheet online, people working around the clock on twitter/reddit/boards to try swing opinions.
Its not a simplistic as your choice of paper unless that's all you do for information. FOT , IMO, is an extremely good writer but has not written any good quality stuff since his sojourn in China, owing to his permanent crusading. The FT, Telegraph and The Economist also produce some good stuff even if their view steers in a particular direction you might not share.
There's no big reveal, it's a commentary as COVID produced oceans of such stuff. One can recognise it far more quickly now especially in news reporting. IMO general news reporting has got a lot worse since COVID but has probably been in decline for far longer. Whether it's a response to the way we consume information or just dumbing down is hard to say.
All very "Sinister" don't you think 😉
I never said anywhere that 'boards is now full of sock puppet accounts for FG', why are you lying?
What I said was, read carefully, that the 2020 poll on the election shows that boards was at variance with the general electorate and had a massively exaggerated support for FG. And that it could be for a number of reasons, 1) that boards has a disproportionate amount of FG supporters or 2) that there were multiple accouunt holders skewing the results in an organised way.
My view is number 1, and I said that on the other thread.
BTW, the very nature of 'anonymous accounts' favoured by the leader of FG is that YOU won't know if they are being run or not. A 'sock puppet or anonymous account' by definition is a 'secret' from mods or the membership. So your claim to know it is 'not run by the party' is spurious.
'Clickbait' was around long before COVID, , but if you have learned to recognise it now as a result of COVID, that's a good thing.
If you want to make accusations about sock puppet accounts on boards then you should head to the feedback forum. I am sure the mods would be very grateful for you to share with them
Just a FYI if you are not aware of the feedback forum
You lied.
For the record and to show that you are lying, here is what I said:
640 people took the time to vote, they voted massively in favour of a party that finished third when they faced the general electorate. An outlier poll that can mean one of two things, a unrepresentative concentration of FG supporters using this site or multiple account holders manipulating a poll.
No evidence of the second option so the first one stands.
Are you man/woman enough to withdraw your lie?
I read that comment carefully too but just ignored it 🙄
Eh, you made an accusation that there are a bunch of people who lean to FG with multiple accounts.
Don't do one of your famous Francie u-turns and stop the dramatics. You have been caught out again. Raise it with the mods or stop the bull.
I made no accusation, I actually said there was 'no evidence of multiple account owners' and actually said which explanation I favoured. For those with difficulty, here it is again:
640 people took the time to vote, they voted massively in favour of a party that finished third when they faced the general electorate. An outlier poll that can mean one of two things, an unrepresentative concentration of FG supporters using this site or multiple account holders manipulating a poll.
Please research the use of the word 'or' in the English language.
That poll suggests there is an unrepresentative concentration (at variance to what happened in the real poll) of FG support here.
The fact that you can't separate the opposition from the general public is worrying. It does marry with the government propaganda we've become familiar with.
But you accept not naming sources is common practice and gives no reason, in itself, to dismiss an article?
There it is ECB have spoken, half of 1% increase in Interest rates, higher than was expected.
Not disputing that it can but on its own it suggests a story of no great substance. We get these source stories every other day and it's almost de rigueur to add " a government source" to give stories a sense of gravitas.
That there is a level of disenchantment within the Greens is not exactly a State secret and has been there since party pragmatists got people to toe the line two years ago any more than FF/FG claiming credit for things. People are minded to see what they will with these types of stories. I see nothing much here especially as we are now into summer but you can choose to see it otherwise.
I guess you can blame FG for that too?
That's some jump isn't it. Not sure why you think I "can't separate the opposition from the general public"?
How exactly are you trying to twist one of my posts to make that suggest?
* Get popcorn to watch this gymnastics!
No, it doesn't. Journalists rely on unnamed sources to break stories and give the public a feel of what's happening. While the source could prove to be unreliable down the road, we know the paper got what they said.
*****
I see the opposition are complaining that government won't release the parameters of their carbon ceiling negotiations with the farming industry. Funny that. Its not even confidential. Maybe they should get your man to whatsapp your man.....
It was actually expected along another 0.5% coming in September and then probably nothing until next Spring.
No, there's more than enough to Blame FFGG on.
Thankfully I'm not dramatically affected my mortgage quite small, but many other will be on top of the cost of living crisis, not also FFFG fault but doing little the help the situation.
It was expected to be one Quarter of a percent, Charlie weston spoke about earlier on Morning Ukraine and the few analysts I've heard said the same over the past few weeks, of course all guess work anyway.
A source could be a cleaner in Leinster House! There is an immediate assumption that so-called sources actually know what they are talking about. They may be just repeating rumours or just venting. In this case the Greens story is really not any new information.
Sure, the opposition don't care very much about emissions just the damage they say the carbon tax is doing and of course any opportunity to embarrass the government. Is that comment about SF hinting they will formulate a policy when they see the government's cards?
For those who obsess about a Certain Party, they'll be thrilled with a bit of a car crash interview on the Lunch time news, spokesperson from that particularly party (Not FG) had his backside handed to him by Brian Dobson, you see I can be objective 😉
You can't blame FG, but you can see the further pressure it will put on them re: the budget.
