If being an unaligned country with a large army is no deterrent to Putin's ambitions is it time for ROI to join Nato?
There has never been a referendum on the triple lock and it is simply a policy. Are you making another false claim?
A legislative amendment can remove it just as it was put in place.
Irish government can change it at a whim and will change it, something I support. You support the status quo of the Brits defending Ireland, and having a veto over us while advocating invading their state some decades back.
Why don't you tell us? You've seem to have hit on some nugget of truth that remains hidden to the rest of us.
Don't be too afraid of looking like a conspiracy theorist in explaining it to us. You're already there anyway.
The Triple Lock could have been gotten rid of at any time, it hasn't, despite your support. The Triple Lock is the democratic will of the people, you need to accept that and grow support for your position democratically.
I missed that referendum Francie, what year was it?
No conspiracy theory, just look around you. If there is no conflict, who loses out? Arms manufacturers. Have a look at the list here:
Top 20 Largest Arms Manufacturing Companies in the World (therichest.com)
I'm not seeing Montenegro mentioned there, are you?
NATO existing makes conflict less likely, not more.
You'll have to spell this one out for us. Where are you going with this and what does it have to do with NATO?
There was none.
So you reckon it is the power swaps fault we observe the Triple Lock?
OK, coz it is them that are keeping us out of NATO too.
Will it affect your vote or even, has it affected your vote in the past?
Francie taking the subject matter off topic now in order to save face.
Or is it all a big great conspiracy. NATO and Putin in it together to sow the seeds of discontent in order to enrich their fellow arms manufacturers. I bet he has proof too, yet wont show it? ;)
If there was money to be made why has Germany and Switzerland not fired up the forges. 🤔
What do you mean 'where am I going with this'?
Makes perfect sense to me that without conflict those country's would suffer massively. Therefore it is 'my suspicion' and always has been, long beofre now, that it was in their interests that there always be a conflict.
You are free to disagree.
'NATO and Putin in it together...'
Never said that either mark.
Would be nice if you stopped desparately making things up.
The conversation has started. Removing the Triple Lock is more advanced in that regard than, say, a united Ireland.
Who said they did? It's perfect for NATO.They could invade as we are non-aligned as was Ukraine. We're the hole in European defense.
So we can't see that we are being trolled? Are you really putting that out there as a possibility?
Simon Coveney
'Don't rush in'
'Not really a priority'
Presents theoretical veto problems “It’s a theoretical problem. I don’t think we have to rush into changing that, there are bigger priorities at the moment.”
Leo wants to get rid of it.... wait for it!.... to make FG distinct from FF.
ROFL
I am willing to state that membership of NATO will happen well before a united Ireland.
Another shocking revelation. 😁
Mr Coveney will be in the EU soon saying NATO is a great idea when he gets the job. Same with the other few that speak out of both sides of their mouths.
It's hilarious the folk here blaming the Putinbots and everyone else that can think of. The only reason we aren't in NATO and have the Triple Lock is because of the power swap.
Will they turn their guns on FG and FF or stay neutral on that one? 😁
We are a "hole" in absolutely nothing. Invading Ireland would gain Russia absolutely nothing as the ease with which any forces in Ireland could be isolated would render the whole thing massively counterproductive.
Ding ding ding! There we have it, Francie, you have officially been admitted to the League of International Conspiracy Theorists.
Your anti-mind-ray helmet, tinfoil y-fronts and anti 5-G covid vax detector is in the post. The Irish chapter's AGM is in Bundoran this year, they'll send the black helicopter to pick you up.
You're going to tell us that it's your opinion now. Well, David Icke has opinions too. We call them... conspiracy theories.
All you have Yurt is invective and mockery.
Best of luck convincing people with that.
You literally just posted you think that the purpose of NATO is explicitly to generate conflict for profit. You've lost it.
Where did I say it was 'the purpose of NATO'? More lies.
I said, there are those in NATO with a vested interest in always having conflict somewhere and posted a list of the members of NATO who have the biggest arms manufacturers.
I am now convinced you willfully misunderstand posts because of the weakness of your arguments and your belief that the West's motives are always good. They aren't and it isn't a conspiracy theory to say that, some members of NATO (the most powerful) record's are not squeaky clean.
While you're shifting the goalposts again when making a mug of yourself, who are those within NATO whose vested interests is to "always having conflict"? Come on, out with it. You've got some more alternative facts you're shy about sharing again.
The greater part of this thread is just an excercise in people giving you rope and you hanging yourself time and again.
Who are these mysterious forces you speak of? Is it a country? Is it their intelligence agencies? The Jesuits? Mormons? Who are the people directing this "always having conflict"? What specific conflicts did this force cause, and how are they convincing the polity of the country (or countries) to be "always having conflict". How are they convincing everyone else in NATO to be "always having conflict"?
You make these grand pronouncements but what exactly are you talking about?
If it's money why is the German Arms industry all over the war in Ukraine ?
I sent you a list. Maybe have a look at it?
I didn't read anymore of your post. Fed up countering misrepresentations and lies.
Wait, hold on a second, you think that those defence companies are the force that's "always driving conflict"? (and which conflicts are we talking about here?)
Deadly serious question for you Francie, and I'm worried for you that you may answer yes. Do you think these private companies are the cause of the Ukraine war?
