I thought that the referee did an excellent job overall and didn't favour any side and the better team undoubtedly won. It is not his fault that the handpass rule is not being implemented. I am just hoping that in future the GAA implements its own rule that the ball must be released from the hand and passed with a definite striking action. It would have been unfair to look for widespread compliance in the final when it wasn't in the lead up to the final. The referee could possibly have blown for it early in the match to set down a marker.
Longer term, I am hoping that the GAA comes down strict on the rule in next year's league and continues it into the championship.
its more a case of what we're not doing that other teams are getting away with due to the direction refereeing has gone and giving up an advantage or getting turned over. For example, trying to handpass the ball out when bottled up is an obvious disadvantage, much easier to throw if its no longer a foul
Agreed 👍
The sister has a young lad on the u14 squad. Seemingly they are playing Limerick on Saturday in Nowlan Park. An early chance for revenge 😀
The Mike Casey free is one iv gone over. Its only through slow motion on Sky that I saw he got a crack in the cheek off the helmet of the tackler. His cheek was swollen after the match. It looked like he was milking it but he had got an accidental bang. Probably was a free if its helmet to helmet
poor lad, deserves a bravery badge for playing on
Is Cody gone yet?
Huge rumours anyway
Press conference and club delegates all called in tonight apparently
Just spoke with our club delegate. He's heard nothing anyway so might want to lay off the rumours. Club delegates are not that well thought of that they'd be called in for something like that.
There's a meeting planned for tomorrow evening. Which is a little unusual. If it is to discuss management it makes sense to get it sorted before club championships kicks off.
Either way it will be Brian's call.
Apart from his:
1. Inability to keep up with the play due to his lack of condition;
2. Inconsistent enforcement of barging;
3. His non application of technical field such as throwing, throwing the ball up and catching it and deliberately dropping the hurl;
He is a bad ref who you sometimes suspect does things out of spite. He was woeful Sunday.
Nothing has been sent to club delegates yet but when Martin Fogarty stepped down and when Michael Dempsey stepped down, delegates were called in to be let known what was happening before it went public! I’d imagine if they are called in they’ll be notified tomorrow as everyone will know what it’s for and the further out they’re informed the more the rumours will spread! Be interesting to see if the rumours are true I definitely didn’t see him stepping away especially after how they played last weekend.
A scoop for John Fogarty perhaps!
I did. He has 3 All Irelands lost since 2015. Great manager but he's past his sell by date I think. Moral victories aren't what Kilkenny are known for in All Ireland finals. When they get there there is an expectation of them to win nothing less.
Yeah but none of us care what your opinions are, given your posting history on this thread and the main hurling championship thread.
I'd be shocked if this isn't true about cody.
He's going to announce it soon
Usernamemeansnothing
Mike Casey is about 5' 10 and he has taken on some of the man mountains of the game like Callinan, Glynn, Duggan and Horgan, among other hurling giants. and held his own against them all. He has come back from almost two years of two serious injuries and quickly regained his position, a pivotal one, in one of the finest teams ever to play the game. I don't think most real fans would feel the are in a position to sneer at him.
The vast vast majority of KK Supporters here are gracious in defeat. Perhaps you could take a leaf out of their book.
Will he announce it on his Instagram account?
bit sensitive aren't you, i have no problem with the defeat. the better team won. my comment was more directed at the poster looking for frees for accidental bangs. game will be gone to complete **** if that starts
Tiktok I think
Ah no seriously tho the county board will probably release a statement in the morning
It's in all the papers now.This won't drag on
I posted earlier that John Fogarty would have the scoop and sure as hell he has it in the Examiner. Great detective work once again from him. He ought to give credit to Boards for some of his "scoops"!
No doubt he will turn it in to some story about his beloved Tipperary and Seamie Callinan...
Absolutely.
After the treatment of Barry Kelly by Kilkenny that is a little bit ironic.
Do you think it's not true? I think it's definitely true and I'd be shocked if we dont have a statement tomorrow.Alot of lads will be happy he's gone but the man deserves some credit. They'll probably give it to Lyng .Henry will hardly give up the lucrative galway job to come back to kk. Not many proven managers in the county.
I do think it's true. Lyng to takeover from Cody and Conor Phelan managing under 20s.
Really surprised this is happening, taught Cody would be there as long as his health allowed him too.
" ... the man deserves some credit."
I see Cody is not the only one who is a King of understatement.
Only the eleven All-Ireland Championships, a record-equalling four-in-a-row between 2006 and 2009, seventeen Leinster Championships in twenty-three seasons, ten National Leagues, five league-championship doubles, and seven Walsh cups.
Give him some credit like...
If he’s to go he’s going out on a high. Some turnaround from earlier in the year. I hope there’s someone already lined up, been there so long can’t really say there a system in place to pick one. If he’s to stay I just hope for some work on the puck outs
cant remember so many managers going in one year? dub, tipp, wat, cork, maybe kk
Imagine what we could have achieved if he hadn't held us back
