I can't really speak for the Swiss during WW2, or now really but I can understand their stance somewhat in WW2. The choices were pretty much remain neutral or be invaded seeing as the entire country was surrounded by Axis controlled lands. There were also plenty of pro nazis in Switzerland unfortunately but then again there were also some in Ireland. It wasn't till towards the end of the war that the real extent of the atrocities came to light.
In any case I don't see what WW2 Switzerland neutrality has to do with the current conflict except that I guess it paves the way for their neutrality today.
Again reasonable. They had little choice but to engage in some kind of relationship with Germany. Though they went over and beyond what was necessary by facilitating the hoarding of illegally obtained money by the Nazis.
it’s mostly relevant just to highlight that their neutrality is and always has been contextual and it means what they choose it to mean.
Plenty of greedy bankers in Switzerland unfortunately, then and now. I can concede that their neutrality is "fluid" up to a certain point but there does seem to be some lines that they choose not to cross.
I know that some here believe that the sanctions have gone too far and that it has negatively impacted their neutrality and I fully believe that it will be put to a vote in the not so distant future. I just hope that the people reject that notion and perhaps also extend the sanctions in the future. I'd be very surprised if the Swiss status quo changes dramatically though, it's a very conservative country.
The Russians are as corrupt as the day is long. Russia could be a great superpower and the kind of country that people would emigrate to in numbers if it managed its plentiful resources correctly but it's still running off of an instinct inherited from the 19th century where democracy has turned into ruling by right and the serfs out in the country barely have running water.
Unfortunately, the cultural foundations of such a societal setup are too deeply embedded for anyone to fix it at short notice, but we can work to neuter them and prevent the spread of their toxic ideology.

Khamenei: NATO is a dangerous entity. The West is totally opposed to a strong, independent Russia. If the way is opened for NATO, it will recognize no limits. If it hadn't been stopped in Ukraine, it would have later started a similar war in Crimea
Which district has Jennifer Lawrence?
The Archbishop of Tehran has spoken.
Nazi Germany repeatedly violated Swiss airspace. During the Battle of France in 1940, German aircraft violated Swiss airspace at least 197 times. In several air incidents, the Swiss shot down 11 Luftwaffe aircraft between 10 May and 17 June 1940, while suffering the loss of three of their own aircraft.Germany protested diplomatically on 5 June and with a second note on 19 June which contained explicit threats. Hitler was especially furious when he saw that German equipment was used to shoot down German pilots. He said they would respond "in another manner".On 20 June, the Swiss air force was ordered to stop intercepting planes violating Swiss airspace. Swiss fighters began instead to force intruding aircraft to land at Swiss airfields. Anti aircraft units still operated. Later, Hitler and Herman Goring sent saboteurs to destroy Swiss airfields but they were captured by Swiss troops before they could cause any damage.Skirmishes between German and Swiss troops took place on the northern border of Switzerland throughout the war.
Like i said, they played both sides, and mainly economically
Anyone in Russia with the balls to overthrow their dictator while he's in Iran?
Sweden done same in ww2,as the swiss, and even helped nazi germany invade Norway.
They made the choice recently to become a NATO member
The swiss banks are probably hiding alot of Putins money as well, its important to be on the right side when Europe is in a conflict,or else you will end up like another Serbia or Hungary

Ok…
Click on that tab above ^^^ on the bottom of the page and past the link for the tweet into it and it should work.
still didn’t work…
ha…That worked, thanks Stradaz
Here we go : I pasted it with the much shorter link, not with all that "ref_src embed" stuff, maybe that did the trick.
..
Thanks, I got it to work.
A lot to unpack in a video with no words.
FairPlay to Americans, I guess Swiss consider the 700 wounded Ukrainian kids possible combatants too?
I’ve had reservations about the Swiss for years, they laundered money for every despot in the world for decades and when same despots were knocked off Im quite sure the Swiss were not knocking on their doors to return the money. They are the cute hoors of Europe.
The loss of face speaks louder than words......it was a humiliating experience for Putin, and clearly defined who was the Big Boss in that encounter. Russian version will be highly edited for the home audience..
In royality terms one is not impressed, imagine Erdogan could have asked him to bend the knee
The reason for that Gatling may be technical,,,some one wearing height assisting foot wear, have to navigate very carefully, especially if it involves bending the knee....😀 and while the bending down part might be accomplished, ( not without difficulty, I imagine) the straightening up part could lead to all kinds of mishap...😂 He was having difficulty just standing up straight while waiting, this could be seen by his movements and facial expression.
lol Reminds me of Hitler meeting Mussolini, At the time Mussolini did not have a high regard for Hitler. Erdoğan being Mussolini in the context of respect.
Don't have to tell me, I've lived here for almost 10 years. Hopefully they don't see this when it comes time to apply for citizenship...
