We made critical mistakes mark. I have praised them for how they handled parts of it.
I responded to somebody making the claim that we handled it well. We didn't overall IMO, too many died and suffered because we made those critical errors.
My father died earlier this year because of COVID. The Irish government took their eye off the ball when they started treating COVID less seriously earlier this year. We don't know the exact number of daily cases because less testing is taking place. The mask mandate should have been kept in place.
Because of health issues I don't know when I will be using public transport again because the majority of users are maskless. COVID is not going away anytime soon and we can expect another wave in the winter. Having a mask mandate in place would be a good start.
Apparently, because we are high up on one of those lists somewhere that doesn't matter. Sorry for your loss, skimpy. You really shouldn't have to read people gloating about these awful individual experiences.

I remember you comparing the south to the north at the start of covid, when you claimed the North was doing excellent and the government was a disaster. Quoting the results from the web etc. Both Michelle and Arlene had bonded because of covid in their families etc according to you. So it was ok to compare then.
Then it all fell to poo in the North as usual, Michelle and Arlene hadn't bonded and both ended up bickering with each other while people died. Then it was suddenly "callous" to compare.
Plus if we dont compare and contrast how will anyone know how to handle a situation like that again?

Because of health issues I hardly saw my father since 2020 and I last saw him 8 days before he died. He was very careful and did not go out much. If we want to compare deaths we could look at how well New Zealand but I don't want to gloat.
The government did somethings right about COVID but as you pointed out they did somethings wrong. Leo and FG were happy to go to war with NPHET, making things confusing. As regards FF Donnelly could have done more and the less said about various grubby contracts the better including the one to the family of Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD.

Why do you bring SF into the thread and then when you've had your say and get called on it try to shut it down citing wrong thread? Can you not discuss the government on its own merits? Do you not think thats telling?
This is such a stupid post.
Every single government made critical mistakes, meaning you can criticise everyone. Remember gloves anyone, when it was thought it survived on surfaces? The advice was confusing, the fear was real, but in certain countries - Ireland included - clear heads prevailed, and the vast majority of decisions were correct.
In Northern Ireland, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Poor quality of leadership played a large part in that, with one political party contradicting itself weekly. The Irish people need to know this and see this, but you want to hide the responsibility away.

I personally didn't but if I did, I wouldn't be typing this post, I have a number of medical issues including an auto immune disease, so was essentially isolated for 18 months and still very cautious despite 2 Vacinne jabs and now 2 booster jabs,, so I've a little understanding of your situation 😉
In my case, I have no B cells and I have no idea about T cells as I have a weakened immune system thanks to cancer treatment. I had the Pfizer vaccine but because of my weakened immune system it did not work. I more or less isolated for 2 years until earlier this year when I finally caught COVID. That gave me some immunity which has now more or less gone, so I will soon be back at square one.
You are only a member since January this year.
Maybe you missed them when you were lurking but I can show many posts reacting to this macabre competition dating back to Apr 2020.
We know from your record that you mitigate for the government when they make mistakes blanch. They made critical mistakes with covid, Too many in my opinion so I cannot agree that we handled it as well as we could have. And I don't need to get into a macabre competition to believe that.

Why are you bringing up the North? Its not a UI yet. Also in the south we'd worst in the world at one point. Government friendly chicken plants importing staff and working with covid clusters no bother. Politicians attending a grand Garda procession funeral. Senior politicians going to a golf dinner. Enough to discuss relevant to the thread. Like everything they do, 'its worse elsewhere' isn't addressing the issue.

You complain about the government response. I am just comparing them to the other parties in Ireland.
How is comparing the government response to what the opposition asked for "evade responsively on behalf of the government"
At the end of the day most people have come to the understanding the response by the government was good, not brilliant, but it saved lives. People now trying to demean that achievement is hilarious when you see the alternative was the opposition view which would have ended up with more people sick and dead.

No, its you using elsewhere to avoid discussion on our government. How much of a balls they make of things isn't improved by what goes on elsewhere. Rather than 'fake' you are avoiding the discussion altogether. There is no FF/FG/Green government in the North. Yes I just posted about similar in the 'trivial things that annoy you thread' - I was at the last page on this thread at least twice, and then posted a comment, and realised there were a few pages after what seemed to be the last comment. ..😣
My comments were relevant three pages ago.. 😂 It happened yesterday too. The conversation had completely moved on, but wasn't showing on my end until after I commented. So, not going back to page one, but not showing later posts from last visit until after I comment.

Micheal when not expecting to be asked about the leak investigation last week in the Dail tried to dodge the asw but when pushed on it, he clearly stated he didn't know who leaked it yet but the REPORT WILL be out by the end of year
