a Su shot down by own Russian air defence
Su-icide its a su-icide
You mean that russia telling everyone that sanctions are having no effect isn't true? That can't be right, can it? Why would they lie incessantly about such things?
I'm awful silly to believe such information coming from russia and posting it for all to see.
The EU it seems actually put up an informative infographic just in the last day, some fascinating graphs there
https://www.consilium.europa.eu/fr/infographics/impact-sanctions-russian-economy/
How devilishly clever master strategist, Russia's greatness will be secured by crushing its own economy. It's like Rumble in the Jungle: rope-a-dope on a national scale.
16% inflation
-9% wage growth
-95% car sales
-16% gdp
-300bn in assets seized
300000 left country by mid March (statistics not offered since)
1500 companies left dismissing 600000 people
Yeh Russia is doing well
What about ‘ A Special Operation, Mark 2’ or ‘ Return the Compliment Operation’
Eh, maybe get your facts right about the oil grades. Sakhlin blend is lighter and sweeter than Brent and Ural is about the same API as what is pumped in UAE and Oman but is sweeter. If anything most Russian oil should command a slight price advantage due to its average lower sulphur on a straight API comparison. This is all dependant on what can be physically traded e.g. WTI is only tradable in US.
Russians are **** themselves now that they realised their ships are in range
Russian Urals barrells typically trade at a couple of dollars less than Brent crude due to the quality of its mix. 33-34 dollars is not a couple of dollars, it's a deep discount.
Yes cause Brent is the standard and Russian oil is cruder if that makes sense.
Happy mh17 anniversary
It's the only thing to do, all's fair in love & war and that.
Ukraine could call it some kind of special operation. They seem to be fine.
The Russian terrorists would certainly have some cheek to complain if Ukraine started hitting back, given what they are doing on Ukrainian soil.
I read that, at the time I was actually wondering if there was a way to knock those bombers down.
A Finnish MP said today that selected targets in Russia should 100% be a target for attacks from Ukraine - pointing out that missiles are being fired from inside Russia.
The funny thing is novorossiysk is in ATACMS range too. Muricans need to take the handcuffs off and let Ukraine batter legit targets inside russia.
I'd say once the HIMARS have forced Russian ammo dumps and logistic units well back beyond range, the UAF will begin picking off RuZZian positions and command networks. (some evidence this may have already started happening)
Oh, and they might finally go after a certain bridge.
I assume the ukrainians will move on to critical rail infrastructure with hi-mars ?
An interesting article giving lie to the 'limitless friendship' between Russia and China.
All is not well in that particular marriage, despite some of our more outspoken posters spooging their y-fronts at the new axis of autocracy that will apparently bring the liberal west to heel.
The Chinese espionage ring in Russia (mentioned earlier in the thread) is referenced, as well as the low-key arm wrestle over Kazakhstan - and that's one well worth keeping an eye on.
No honour among thieves comes to mind.

Are we supposed to take such pronouncements at face value?
You’re not dealing with some uneducated Babushka. Must try harder.
..
Uh...
Still selling at 33 dollars less per barrell than the Brent global benchmark (as of the 15th)

The discount price on Russian oil is gone.

Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova and head of security dismissed. Zelensky fires security service chief and prosecutor general - The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)
Russians really feeling the HIMAR pain. Forced to relocate their logistic points.
Now if only the UAF could get their hands on the 300km range ones, Russian logistics would be forced back across the border nearly.
The entire country is not a warzone. Yes any part of the country could suffer an ork rocket attack but the vast vast majority of the country is back to normal. People are at beaches, BBQ's, restaurants are open etc... in most Ukrainian cities. Ukraine with continued western support will hold the line against the Russians and Putin knows it. Imo Russia will hunker down now and try and defend the land they have taken thus far and Zelenski will be persuaded to accept terms before the American mid terms.
First of all there's lots to sanctions than just oil. Secondly Russia is selling their oil cheaper to the markets willing to buy off them, and look to the pumps. You'll see it's dropping in price. The sanctions ARE hurting Russia.
