Has to be one of the worst party leaders ever and his membership must cringe when they see this stuff. Instead of just saying, 'ok, fair cop', he digs a deeper hole for them all.
The future of the party is the opposition benches and they will have to become the FG alternative and wait for their go again. This coalition has badly damaged the party IMO, not just having martin at the helm but just getting into bed FG. Martin had to have his go as chief though, you don't want the honor of the only FF leader who wasn't.
Will it take some time? He's been in trouble since the election, his replacement is long earmarked.
Even if he does step aside or is removed, it will take some time to find a new leader. Still, it might be a good time to consider it anyway. Having up to 2 years left gives them a chance to bed in and figure out where to position themselves and the party. They also have a deal and the last thing they will want is to be blamed for an unnecessary election. FF hotheads may see an escape from government to restore the FF brand as a good thing but it's really not.
When Martin is finished in FF once the handover is done to Varadkar. Martin is possibly the worst taoiseach we have had and we have had some beauts. I don't expect the government to last much longer then.
Back to its only the Opposition blocking housing 🙄
Keep flogging dead horses BA.
We all have a duty to object to bad developments and crony developments.
The majority of housing blocked fall under these.
What would the bill be to retro fix these if they were allowed. 10bn?
Cruisin thru the threads didn't enter my mind thb
It probably comes under the PRA(Public Representation Allowance), which is fully vouched. It's up to a max of €20,350 for TDs but covers a lot of areas including the likes of social media(advertising).
Incorrect, as we have seen the opposition have the ability to do lots, mostly blocking houses around ireland to make the housing crisis worse
So maybe you should change to
The only TD's in the Dáil who can 'do something good' are those in power.
The people have already shown they are 'unhappy' with parties by voting in Independents in the first place.
🤣🤣🤣 the word Sinister has taken on a whole new meaning for the FG mob. Its used so much these days to deflect its actually amusing 😏
Devious of course hasn't 😏
All that happens if a heap of independents or tiny groups get elected is diluting the choice for a government .We had several in the last time going in and talking about doing something but all they did was abstain when it came to actually voting for a government .I would much prefer a couple of parties if they make up the numbers go ahead and actually govern if people are unhappy vote them out next time .
It would be interesting to know where this money comes from. Are we paying for this devious, sinister and cunning carry on?
Morning, yes indeed 😏
They are certainly paying people to run Social Media campaigns for them (by fair means or foul, depending on how you view these things.)
Where the money comes from I don't know.
I suspect her filleting of Leo is why her contributions generally are dismissed. The Leo fans try to cancel her. Nothing unusual in that.
She's a committed deputy who is not in it for herself or a party.
I'd say at a guess, Highly unlikely personal Twiiter accounts paid for by anyone, let alone taxpayers.
That said , more prominent, busier accounts may have an indirect cost in terms of admin, monitoring, posting updates , replies etc, it's unlikely that a lot of content is actually posted directly by certain politicians or high profile users.
Government Department accounts may pay for advertising schemes, info promotion, content etc, indeed certain politicians may also pay for promotion of their accounts but this unlikely to be through taxpayer funds. I reiterate its just a guess on my part , maybe someone with direct knowledge might be able to shine some light .
Just wondering why you didn’t mention the email and information you have in the first post?
I did did a FOI with respect to Minister Hackett, and received a reply from her Dept that her account is a private account, the implication being that no public funds are used to pay for the running of that Twitter account..
I have to accept that this is true, because if it is false what is the consequence?
I'll post the email received when I get the chance
What do you think 🤣
Are the Twitter accounts of TDs paid for by the TD personally, or funded by the taxpayer?
She is also Leas-Cheann Comhairle. So she has done something.
Might be worth posting a clip of her brilliant interrogation of Varadkar in the Dail over the leak. She's also the deputy CC. She was a potential Labour candidate but she was ousted to make way for some member of a Labour family. Definitely Labour's loss. She won the seat though.

It's a bizarre understanding of politics that dismisses an opposition politician because they haven't 'done anything'.
I wish FF/FG/Greens sat on the sidelines, their 'doing something' is a disaster.
The only TD's in the Dáil who can 'do something' are those in power. The essence of being in opposition is to hold to account and to challenge. That is their duty and on that should they be judged.
You do understand this concept?
If all you can want from a TD is a couple of pre-scripted speech's in the Dail then yes she is excellent.
Personally I prefer a TD who can actually do something and wants to do something, not sit on the sidelines as the latest "hurler on the ditch".
The Dail is full of them....
So much for all his likes on Twitter, 😂😂😂 is it just me or does there be less, shall we say deflection noise on this when it's just poor MM under scrutiny 🤔
He must love swimming in Egypt and I wonder who else will be joining him.
He must also be thinking those in FF who are against him must be swimming in Paris.
Can't even go on holiday it seems having to come out and deny 😁
