Leo the head of the coalition party FG likes the idea of anonymous accounts (bots) and Elon doesn't...discuss.
Nothing to do with the 'opposition'.
What's your own view?
"exclusionary nationalism"?
Sorry, what's that?
I suggest you look again at @Dempo1 excellent example of fake accounts
Not sure why you want to blame the victim and not the culprit.
Anyway all the information has been provided and backed up @Dempo1 example plus plenty more on the tweet they posted. Imagine a Taoiseach can’t even congratulate a sporting achievement without getting over run by fake accounts
Terrible
I think Leo's idea was devious, sinister and cunning. I agree with Elon, accounts should be open and verified and the holder of those accounts known by mods.
Might be one or two fake accounts, majority look like ordinary people to me. Long before SM media I remember the people raging about Charlie Haughey turning up when Stephen Roche won the Tour De France, he got hammered because it was seen as trying to ride on the reflected glory when FF had the country on it's knees. Proper order IMO
I agree "accounts should be open and verified and the holder of those accounts known by mods."
Thankfully here this has happened here and has changed the forums for the better. I am sure you can agree.
Yes, I got in a bit of bother as the world's worst sock puppeteer, I opened a second account and told the mods I was doing it and got their permission.
Disgraceful stuff, I should have listened to Leo and stayed anonymous....sigh!
I don't see where in my post I referenced you.
You really need to stop victim blaming, if you think fake accounts are “ devious, sinister and cunning” then please contact the organisation who are promoting this carry on and ask them to stop.
I have already provided the link to the political party actively running a campaign to hire people so they can abuse people and TDs online.
Excatly like what the tweet @dempo provided if this continues will anyone in ireland be able to celebrate a sporting event online without risking getting abused from fake account
This is last post as this discussion need to be on the oppositions thread and not the government. You should never blame a victim of online abuse, correct @francie brady ?
What 'organisation'?
Have you evidence there is an organisation behind this?
Might be FGers? Their leader suggested this would be a good idea.
victim blaming
What organisation BA? If you can supply evidence they are behind fake accounts on Twitter, I have no issue contacting them.
Only organisation I know who favour fake accounts is FG.
And of their biggest cheerleaders Eoghan Harris.
Eoghan gets brushed under the carpet like the elbower and glass wielders and chocolate bar hiders, mentioned earlier.
I miss the days when you got so excited about bots.
Years replying and thanking bots here.
Mod - Back on topic please, we have been discussing users more than the topic of the thread
I take posters as they come and go. If they are bots or not.
Bots, re-regs after being site banned etc, I have seen them all, if they make a comment I will agree or disagree. That's what a discussion forum is. If your mind is that feeble it gets changed by a bot then that is your problem.
You seem determined to go in circles, this was already discussed today and the relevant links provided, 👍
Not sure why you continue to victim blame the government parties
i posted on the relevant thread, feel free to join in.
Like you and myself we may not agree on everything but present arguments have a bit of banter no harm done. But not so intractable never to agree unlike some. I find it an odd way of thinking agree or enemy. 😘
A political party is not a person.
Gosh, thanks for the late night adulation and attention, sincerely appreciated 🙂
I don't think FF will remove Martin. The polls make it too risky. I think they will let Leo take the helm and face the music for a while.
President Higgins has public backing for housing policy criticism in poll | Ireland | The Sunday Times (thetimes.co.uk)
President Higgins has public backing for housing policy criticism in poll.
he government’s decision not to challenge President Higgins’s criticism of its housing policy has been vindicated, as a new opinion poll has found that four out of five voters are satisfied with the president’s performance and that there is widespread support for his comments.
Higgins’s approval rating is 30 points higher than for any party leader in the Dail, according to the Behaviour & Attitudes poll for The Sunday Times. Fewer than one in ten voters (9 per cent) are dissatisfied with the president’s performance, while another 11 per cent offered no opinion. A similar proportion — 80 per cent — said they agreed with Higgins’s remarks in a public speech last month that the housing crisis was Ireland’s “great, great, great failure”.
-----------------
There isn't a damn thing the government could have done about the speech anyway. There was no line crossed.
Well done Michael D Higgins.
What would the chances be that they'd remove MM just before Leo was due to have his turn in the big chair again?
FF are a spent force now, just over ten years ago they were responsible for the country losing its sovereignty, and the troika having to be called in, then they shored up, and later coalesced with FG.
FG have further decimated health and housing situations here, they've consistently been on the wrong side of history, as far back as when their forefathers fought alongside Francos fascists in Spain.
Been a while since the 1930s was dragged up! Pretty inaccurate depiction of recent history BTW, FF and FG remain two parties even if your reality tells you different and there are more differences there than between FF and SF.
Hard to say if they are a spent force but they are certainly lost, something O'Callaghan was supposed to be looking into. Both parties still retain a level of duopoly in some parts of the country and degrees of support in many places. Some posters may view that as conservatism, stupidity or just an opportunity to name-call. Voters need to be persuaded to change, a mindset which is lot easier in urban locations.
Housing is the big battle, health is not. Health is ultimately Slaintecare and as that is a cross-party production, any incoming government will have to implement it. There are questions over the speed of progress but little disagreement on its introduction. What's the timescale of this health system decimation? Does it exclude the unavoidable public health crisis of the last two and a half years, which is still causing issues in the health system?
Pretty inaccurate depiction of recent history BTW
Really? In what sense?
Slaintecare and as that is a cross-party production
I recall reading several articles across multiple media platforms that many of Roisin Shorthalls slaintecare proposals were being deliberately frustrated and blocked by various factors.
Meanwhile I was reading articles yesterday about hospitals in Spain opening to treat the Irish.
FFG have the health and housing decimated.
That they coalesced. You've actually agreed with me on Slaintecare and yet somehow you've blocked out the massive problems that COVID, and the cyberattack, have caused to the health system, especially with waiting lists, which produced the need for that hospital.
That they coalesced
That's far from "inaccurate" they've joined forces, unitised and are now partners in an absolutely God awful and shambolic government.
They've become virtually indistinguishable from one another. I've said elsewhere that they'll really really struggle on their next election campaign to run a campaign where one will have to prove it's a viable alternative to the other one. (Vote for him, get me kind of thing)
Die hard party faithfuls will obviously try and convince themselves FF differs to FG (and vise versa) but a large section of the electorate don't see it that way (going by polls) but convincing oneself and no one else will do nothing in the long run except ultimately further decimate their party and further alienate themselves.
There's been problems in our crumbling health system long before covid, cyber attacks, Putin etc etc. Sure didn't Enda Kenny vow to sort it out before FG got into govt in 2011?
This is exactly what the MONC was about, getting TD's to double down and play their cards and thereby setting the electorate straight for the future where FF and FG are indistinguishable
