Base model 1.8i but clean as a whistle, and we intend it to just be a utilitarian vehicle. I've had a 93x TTiD the last while too so looking after this one shouldn't be a problem, hopefully.
A snip under 2K from a well respected Saab specialist with warranty. Absolute bargain in today's market, even have change left over to change the wheels (worst Saab wheels ever IMO!)

Would ya want to be mad to buy a 2.0t petrol with today's prices? What are people's experiences with em with a small commute?
I dont see why it would be considered mad, there would obviously be more economical better choices - but if its for smiles per miles then theres loads of people choosing a 2.0 petrol. I often look on d/d for 2.0 petrol accord or 2.0 petrol vrs even a s60 volvo.

If your only doing small commutes then mpg shouldn't be a deciding factor really imo. The higher motor tax will probably put the average buyer off meaning they should be cheaper to buy.
I have 2 Saab 93 Aero's
They are 2litre turbo and I average about 34mpg driving 15km to work in the morning. Costs the same as my diesel 93X actually for that distance.
In all honestly, they are a great engine/turbo combination. not as heavy as you might think. I can easily get 40mpg on the motorway all while having 250hp and 380nm at your disposal should you need it.
Ill be selling one of the aero's shortly, just need to tidy up some stuff on it.

I know a politician who clocked 500k miles on a paddy spec one of those. He bought it new in 06 and had it up until 2019, he could still have it today.
Hi all, first time poster on this thread. Im changing jobs soon and with a heavy heart I'll be handing back the keys of my company van soon. New job is a 5min commute from the house. I like these Honda accords.. Any thoughts on what they are like to own? I'd imagine they are super reliable if serviced on time.
Edit: sorry its not a sub 2k car, asking price is 2.5k so could be haggled down nearer the 2k.
Have you priced insurance on a car of that age? With driving under a company policy only then your NCB in your own name is probably expired. Insurance companies are very fussy with what they will and won't insure these days.
If it's a 5 min commute then you might be better of with a bike or an E-Bike?
Those Accords were generally a very good, solid reliable car.

I priced it with 123.ie out of curiosity and twas just over 2 grand, I'm a named driver on the girlfriends policy and my dad's policy. I think I'll try get a 1.4 Corolla, I'll have to suck it up now that it'll be relatively pricey getting insurance again for the first year or 2. Its a really short commute but I've family out the road a few miles so I'll be going for a car.
Not far off the 2k mark with this Corolla and hoping to view it in the next few days but it will suit me down to the ground as a wee runaround.
What trim level is that Corolla.
That model can be a horrid place to be if its the normal paddy spec, bad seats, noisy cabin, hard plastic all around. If there is an alternative, go for it, even something like a Focus is easy insured and while isn't Rolls Royce standard, is a nicer place to be than those Corrollas.
You should consider an Avensis too if insurance permits. A nicer car to be in than that Corolla and not as cramped.

I'd put money on that being 188,000 miles rather than km. I'd be checking for signs of it possibly being a taxi in a previous life too. Lots of tired old ex taxi Avensis for sale at that end of the market.
Also are you getting insurance quotes on an 18 year old car?
That one linked is the luna spec. That's highest spec. Terra is bog basic. Strata was next level. Added alloy wheels and a bit of chrome. Luna added air con, steering wheel controls and split rear folding seat.
By 2007, luna was most popular spec sold I think or at least there's plenty of them. Followed by terra. The strata is rare.
Same year Honda civic or mitsi lancer will be a nicer place to be for same or cheaper money. Civic saloon will be 1.8 petrol. Lancer will be a 1.8 diesel I think. Focus titanium would be nicer. But I'd say generally diesel in 2008, a 2008 petrol will be more desirable as less expensive stuff to go wrong like no DMF or turbo on that era petrols.
Those level avensis would defo be a nicer drive than the corolla and probably just as reliable. But will be a good bit harder on petrol. That 1.4 vvti model was very economical.
Was the Avensis available in 1.4 petrol around 08? I doubt it TBH, we had a petrol and IIRC it was only available in 1.6. Still wasn't awful thirsty though, and waaay nicer than the Corolla. They weren't an awful big seller though, were in a higher CO2 band than similar petrol let alone Diesel, which upped the tax considerable in the second half of 2008 with the change in tax regime.

Those Polos are a risky buy with a short NCT. They are prone to failing the NCT on emissions
