Yeah it's not great. On another note, I had time to check out the progress of the main terminus this afternoon, structure is taking shape but definitely not going to be completed by the end of August I'd say.
Actually I’m just a fellow passenger who was giving you the benefit of my own experience, and was trying to be helpful.
And I don’t work in the public sector.
But why bother if that’s your attitude.
Shouldn't have to do that just to get reliable info. Not asking much that the new bus system would actually be staffed.
There is a severe driver shortage caused by the current Covid wave and real issues in recruitment, which is ending exacerbated by annual summer leave. That’s now being felt in virtually every business around the country.
As far as the bus companies are concerned, I’ve certainly felt that an emergency timetable should have been implemented over a month ago that reflected the service that could actually be delivered. The levels of cancellations and curtailments are massive.
The next core bus corridor (the fourth) has had its planning application lodged:

Amazing design really...
Planning application (reference no. 4457/22) for the temporary bus depot in Finglas has now been lodged. https://planning.agileapplications.ie/dublincity/application-details/151066
(Won't let me embed the link so this will have to do)
This is the second one. The first one was declared invalid so they started again.
Ah my bad, obviously missed the last one
Seems the roll out of the cbcs is stalled. No sign on Finglas/Ballmun or Ringsend. I suspect ABP has quite enough issues to deal with though, I expect the lack of staffing has come home to roost. The prospect of reviewing 16 bus corridors, metrolink and 4 DART+ applications at exactly the same time wasn't all that practical an idea.
Probably annual leave commitments at the NTA and their consultants kicking in too. I wouldn’t be too worried.
The present stall in submitting cbc applications means that the clongriffen scheme will probably be granted planning before the last cycle planning application is submitted. Hope they have the tendering process in full swing
Ballymun/Finglas and Ringsend were supposed to go in before August. Nothing was going to go in during August. Now Ringsend is tied up because of legislative issues. Lucan is up next after Ballymun/Finglas now.
Blanchardstown has gone back out to another observation period due to the NTA providing some incorrect documents online.
Legal issues for Ringsend? I suppose something to do with the bridge?
Thanks for the update. Shame about blanch. Would be great to see finglas/ballymun being lodged soon.
Lucan is hardly worth lodging, the scheme already exists more/less.
…and no word on Tallaght or Greenhills CRCs…
:’)
Winetavern street contraflow going to be in operation from the 25th:
Shame that they couldn't get the design right
What's wrong with it? Genuine question
I believe it was initially a quick build design for the launch in August. Obviously that date was postponed but I'd imagine the contracts etc were already signed. Yes, the junction at Christchurch is still a deathtrap for cyclists, but this will be redone (albeit still with some issues) under one of the Bus Connects infrastructure projects (can't remember which one exactly).
Well the footpaths remaim dangerously narrow especially at Christchurch, the cycle lane is on the wrong side, going the wrong direction. There's a two car lanes provided in one direction. One lane per direction is sufficient for cars in the city centre
I think it's just waiting for the Road Traffic & Roads Bill to get through the Oireachtas.
Ballymun/Finglas is going in today.
Just checked, and the site is live (no official announcement yet)
Thanks for the update. Is that the act that will allow the NTA to enforce bus lanes?
A new level of ridiculous altogether

What a complete waste of money - will make cyclists go on the road
What is that post? I don't really use Twitter but it just says "You’re unable to view this Tweet because this account owner limits who can view their Tweets." for me.
A gigantic waste of time and money and yet more pavement clutter.
The naivete that (a) cyclists will stop at a red for pedestrians (b) pedestrians will wait for a light to change to go two metres across the footpath when their bus is about to pull out.
Nice touch that the bus in the photo is out of service.
It would make sense if those lights were just amber flashing lights as neither (a) pedestrians nor (b) cyclists will stop at a red light but just watch out for the other and take avoidance measures to make sure that (a) they do not miss the bus, and (b) they do not slow down unless absolutely necessary.
