Thanks for that, will be interesting to see …
The real issue here is Ukraine's ability to defend against them. Any old drone is lethal without air defense.
Seems like it, yes
straight swap possible, the south for the rest of the Donbas
Just listened to Tom Clonan on Eamonn Dunphys podcast. He was quite definitive in that he does not think that NATO will have the appetite to support a mass mobilisation of Ukrainian troops to retake the Donbas. And that we’ll be looking at negotiations around a peace deal pretty soon. Is worth a listen
They are both very similar by the looks of it. The Bayraktar appears to be the better quality drone, and prior to this war Turkey managed to get these used to get effect in the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh War. Nagorno-Karabakh was interesting technology-wise as it was perfect trial run of Turkish tech (via Azerbaijan) against a typical Russian-equipped land army (Armenia).
The main drawback to the Bayraktar verses the Shahed is that Bayraktars need a Western supply chain to keep them maintained. Shahed appears to be made to be “sanction-friendly” with parts Iran could make locally. This is probably the appeal to Russia, assuming they can keep Iran friendly.
However, the Shahed has so far mostly been used in Syria, which isn’t really the same as hitting targets in Ukraine. They may not be as effective there. We’ll have to wait and see.
Quadrilateral negotiations on the export of Ukrainian grain began in Istanbul with the participation of the delegations of Ukraine, Turkey, the UN and Russia
Agreed. Never underestimate some of the electorate… some will even savour the protest vote. Democracy, innit.
We shouldn’t be surprised a Russophile spouting BS. But, let’s not forget some academics would struggle to tie their own shoelaces.
Lack of good candidates, mep is some gravy train.
How does this compare to the Turkish Bayraktar that Ukraine were using to great effect at the start of the war?
Kurds would love to get the pair of them
One of the interviewer's questions was "Why are you here telling lies on behalf of Putin?".
Re Wallace and Daly, not so sure : there's a long tradition of electing dickheads to the European Parliament, and some of them get re-elected. There is a sort of dickhead-protest vote out there.
In fairness to the guy interviewing him, I can't think of his name , he all but called him a lying bollix. I know the ambassador sounds nervous and talks like he's programmed but I got the sense from him that he knows it's only a matter of time before the game is up for Russia.
I don’t know, i think marching this lot from embassy through Dublin streets naked with a bell ringing and constant “shame” chants has a better ring to it
Anyone hear that lying towrag of a Russian ambassador to Ireland being interviewed on drivetime yesterday evening? Seeing as we're not going to expel him he should be taken out to the citywest Hotel or somewhere and let the Ukranian women there string him up!
Who gives a crap about them? They're dead in the water come the next election and may as well retire gracefully beforehand. Pair of dickheads.
In error.
What?
I’m not doing to discuss with my Russian friend and colleague, who is against the war, whether Russian solders raped Ukrainians ffs. we were talking about reactions in Moscow and what they think of Putin
I’m not doing to bother replying to you any more.
Very interesting if Iran starts funnelling alot weapons into this on side of Russia (or perhaps they may act as some semi-deniable conduit for China - could they actually produce all of this themselves unaided, if its "100s of drones"?) after European countries efforts at getting a nuclear agreement and ending the US sanctions + making workarounds for them!
I increasingly think the main problem leaders of these "regional power" countries of the former Third world who spent so many decades wailing about the evils of colonialism/neo colonialism and racism had with the set-up is that they were not the ones getting to occupy others, or wage their dirty proxy wars on someone else's turf!
So you discussed life in Russia at present without discussing the war! How weird/strange / unbelievable is that.
Interesting graph showing that the Russian media talking points on Ukraine come directly from Putin and the Kremlin. Whatever he decides the narrative in the press is going to be becomes the narrative.

Stalin read books so he is like me, a cultured person. lol. Roberts is a fantasist.
Send Borat to Russia to sort it all out.
The spat with Kazakhstan continues to grow, first time i am learning of the supposed explosion at the biggest oil field in Kazakhstan which followed the Russians blockading them
Yes, but this article will be used by the likes of Moscow Mick and Commie Clare to further their "cause".
With corruption rife in Russia surely it would be easy enough to 'buy' the intel regarding Putins movements, plane type, time of departure, co-ordinates etc.
With that info they would be many willing volunteers to launch a surface to air missile to take the cnut out!
I doubt Ukraine will take much notice, if any at all, of the Irish Times.
We should read this man's opinion and cast a sharp and cold eye over his position.
