It is all a bit playground carry-on really.
Yeh sure. Easy jibe to make, if it was all playing why are they scrambling around looking for support? Talk sense.
Nah, I see it all as a waste of everyone's time. It is a good that it now can't succeed and there genuinely is no need for an election. We have got used to Indo politicians lending their votes all over the place and it's not as if the proponents of the motion have not dug around for every vote they could find. The outcome will be failure, the Dail will go into recess and we'll back in the trenches in September for the Budget.
Jaysus, he's FG shill level with his 'show motion' bufoonery. How many tax payer grands went to the team coined that I wonder?
Aye and what were they all promised?
be insulting to share such simple insights with the learned posters on here.
Stay condecending classy.
I'm a learned poster , lesson learning every day 🎓🎓🎓 😁
Just a reminder on the Local Election results in 2019
FF = 279 seats
FG = 255 seats
SF = 81 seats
Labour = 57
Green = 49
SD = 19
Government has 62% of total seats and cannot manage to get the councils to implement laws/taxes? Next excuse please.
Nicely misinterpreted! That sentence means that the possible process is so obvious one didn't need to point it out to any poster but by all means feel free to be offended by it.
Says it all really when you break it down like that 😏 but of course you'll be reminded Darragh O Brien has nothing to do with councils despite being Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage since June 2020 😏
That's the so-called legislative branch, they don't run councils, just scrap endlessly over budgets and ideological policies. Some them even appeal planning permission applications! Actual councils with departments and employees are pretty useless in getting things done like building houses and especially in collecting revenue. There really are few good councils, Fingal probably stands out largely Paul Reid went in there and forced them to change their culture.
FYI this is from DCC site
There are 63 democratically elected public representatives on the City Council. The role of these Councillors is to lay down the policy framework which the city operates within.
You agreed and are on record that we should not invest in new equipment for the Irish Military.
Internet doesn't lie dear ol' Francie.
My apologies, it read as highly condecending. I appreciate the compliment. Thanks.
Ah but when the opposition had more seats on council for less than 5 years, but FF/FG combined had more, were in government together (unofficially) and the housing minister was FG, the housing crisis in Dublin was all on the opposition....but now that we have FF and FG with the most bums on seats, a crony planning board, and a FF/FG government....its the minority opposition to blame once again.
If only FF/FG/Greens could get more 25 year leases to use as social housing!
The MoNC was dead in the water from day one.
Do you think it will pass? Want to put money on it?
Not always called to be won mark as you well know.
Tactical politics and pretty effective too IMO, government scrambling around looking for support is not a good look.
Ah No, the Putin shite again! 🙄
I'd start by just paying them properly mark, then invest in equipment needed to do the job, not fantasist wishlists to go off on junkets with NATO.
So, you therefore admit, it's a bit nothing burger by the opposition, who want to play politics and showmanship, while there is a cost-of-living crisis ongoing.
What an admission there. :)
Didnt mention Putin in my post Francie, but since you are on a roll in not answering questions, ill guess we will add that one as well.
Yes, ok. Pay them first, then worry about equipment. Fantastic planning there General Francie. You should get a job in the DoD for that fantastic remark. Right up there with your 'Sure invade the North!!"
Well paid Air Force personnel are better at shooting down aircraft don't you know, even though they have no radar, or no aircraft.
I said it from the start, it is tactical politics they all engage in. If you are politically naive enough to think FF or FG wouldn't do the same that's your own issue. Keep up please.
We heard you Francie, its a nothing burger. A week wasted by the opposition. Idiots of the highest order. They don't know what else to do, so revert to plan A. Roar and shout.
The anger and the arrogance all in one post.
It's politics mark, if you don't have your ducks in a row then somebody is going to test the line, been done since the foundation of the state by all political parties.
Well do it at the same time mark.
But DO something to reverse the mess they made.
The other Simon (Harris) , remember him.
His oft used "I don't Recognise " at the start of a vague response to a question used again earlier .
A bit of a non-story. They never got approval to operate here for all their various efforts to lobby the government.
How many times have we heard 'a bit of a non-story' in the life of this government? EEK!
A non story you say , Irish Times didn't think so or indeed the Gaurdian were they covered even more interesting disclosures. Twitter you'll be horrified to learn has lit up over the story.
Obviously, to do with 2016 shenanigans but story broke today and intriguing all the same for those curious about FG's chequered recent past 😏
This story is Uber's failed efforts to aggressively lobby the government between 2013-2106, who ultimately refused to allow them a licence, so definitely a non-story.
There is 63 council seats in Dublin City Council. 29 of those seats are held by FFG and 34 held by other parties.
Who knows why they didn't. Definitely needs to be looked at very closely and it will be. Blowing up a right stink already. Harris doing the classic 'I know nawthing' not a great start.
Yes I've read both and the story of the overall behaviour by Uber is important. They didn't succeed here. The IT Irish timeline makes a reference to that language in about two sentences. What was in the manifesto is very vague and very waffly and it is in the context of an even vaguer micro-entrepreneur thing. The Noonan stuff is silly but that's a local TD at work for his constituents.
As for Twitter, it lights up over the definition of of fart!
