What could it be for? Horses?
Or the Shamrock was running out of time on their slot, or were a medevac, or the first Ryanair wasn’t quite ready, or Shamrock just announced they were able from the intersection thus saving them time. Hard to know without listening in I’m afraid,
Most like they were late and were offered the intersection departure if able.
This was not 1,662 feet, appeared a lot lower
I heard that gliding over, didn't get out in time to see it, sounded ever so smooth!!
We've had this question here before. The 1,600 feet displayed by FR24 will be by reference to standard altimeter setting (1013.2) but actual altitude will have been calibrated according to actual QNH at the time.
I think it passed over twice @HeidiHeidi heard it too but both the ooccasions was very very low, I wonder if it’s the lease jet for the government considering there LJ45 is out of order, I would assume that is correct with what you are saying having witnessed it first hand.
That PC-24 made a single flight from Weston. I doubt that's how aircraft are demonstrated to the Air Corps.
Surely what's being reported by FR24 is what's being read by ATC. In which case it should be displaying the altitude according to the local QNH.
And anyway in most weather conditions the difference in altitude would not be detectable by an observer on the ground.
ATC radars receive the same data from the aircraft, based on standard pressure, but ATC systems adjust the reported altitude to the local QNH for display as an altitude on screen when relevant.
I'd be very happy to bet that aircraft was at 1500 feet, which would tally with the rule of thumb of ~30 feet per hectopascal, and Dublin QNH 1007hPa reported at the time.
Aer Lingus EI432 Dublin to Milan (Linate) diverted earlier to Lyon and squawked the 7's. Presuming it may have been medical as the flight is teeing up to resume to Linate shortly.
Someone on Reddit claimed that they heard a fighter jet over Westport did anyone here hear anything unusual today?
I presume if the RAF did fly over our airspace they would have their transponders switched on so air traffic control can see them.
That's a pretty vague description - what date and time and did they see anything or just hear a noise?
Thread was updated with more details
Sounds like it was a A330MMRT from the Netherlands. Still no idea though why apparently it was flying so low over Westport could have been sightseeing or possible it was so heavy from fuel. It was climbing slowly.
A playback of FR24 shows it was through FL310 (climbing to FL340) over the Clew Bay area, so not low at all. The A330 does make a fair bit of noise when climbing though, even at altitude.
Noticed this earlier. Anyone know why this path would've been taken?
No but if you listen back to LiveATC archives it may shed light on the matter.
Odd one, just heard a jet overhead, big one, but nary a thing on any of the trackers. Not even OpenADSB. 2215 Irish time, Athlone/Ballinasloe region
This one?
Bit of a lateral distance from me that was, sound carrying farther than usual?
3 pc21s coming out of baldonnel heading over the irish sea. Sales visit?
It was a training flight by four French PC-21s.

Wow, that was low and fast over Ranelagh, who or what would this be coming from Berlin?
N498YY.
AF17 on takeoff from Dublin, thats a trip 7 , was someone sick or something from new york ?
What can one use now Flightradar24 is subscription, I live near a small airfield and like to check out what’s flying over house.
I guess this will head for Shannon when it's ready. Seems like an unscheduled stop. Journey seems to have started near Graz, Austria.
Coastguard helicopter circling over Ardmore Point, south of Wicklow.
It was circling/hovering over the sea in that area for over an hour late last night. Is this part of training? I thought maybe someone had gone missing but nothing in the news.
As I type there are three Gulfstreams jets over Ireland. Two took of from Detroit and the third from Shannon, but stoped off in Knock for a short time. No info on FR.
First one landed in Doncaster/Sheffield 17:36 (GLF5)
Second landed Doncaster/Sheffield 17:40 (GLF6)
