Where do Irish buy their laptops when they're going for high performance on a budget?

Looking to stay around the 700 euro area.

Obviously curries/pc-world is the closest and easiest, good in house technical support whilst under warranty, a little extra peace of mind.

I'm looking at for a solid GPU/CPU obviously, good brand name quality (unsure what's what when it comes to this).

Both those laptops are pretty much last gen if you are looking to play modern games at decent settings. If I was buying now I think I’d be looking for at least rtx 3060 or the amd equivalent.

Unfortunately in Ireland this will push you over the 1200 mark in most cases.

some good options there. The Dell with the 165hz screen would be the ideal choice but you can’t spec it at the moment in Ireland. That 120hz screen is only supposed to be average in it.

Don’t buy a gaming laptop without doing a huge amount of research first.

I usually purchase my high spec Laptop from mainland Europe because Curries/PC World (or any Irish electronics retailer as far as I'm concerned) is always more expensive by a range of between €80-€200 in my experience and also the Irish VAT rate of 23% is one of the highest in the EU so I enjoy not giving penny-pinching Varadkar my money! I have ordered my Laptop online from mainland Europe without any problems but I generally just wait until I go on a holiday trip to mainland Europe so I can also purchase it in the electronics retail chain over there.

I can't give you the name of the retail chain here because the mods will remove it. Obviously, the power plug is different here but you can easily purchase the UK power plug version either here or from the North of Ireland because the UK will soon be scrapping the NI Protocol which means cheaper prices.

Obviously, the Netherlands has always been known as one of the most expensive EU Countries, alongside the Scandinavian Countries. I never purchased any electronic item from the Netherlands because I knew that. I have purchased my laptops from Spain, Romania, Cyprus and Germany. With the help of a free online translator, it brought me right to the retail chain in each of those Countries.

Seems like options are down to:

Amazon UK with insane import duty and questionable used-quality
Laptopsdirect who apparently violate purchasers with destroyed merchandise upon delivery and non-existent customer service
Curry's who have disastrous feedback on trustpilot
Direct from manufacturer (Lenovo in this case), who take forever to dispatch and again, get ossified on trustpilot.

DR took my money but never delivered my order. It’s been 3 months. I wish I read the other reviews before placing my order, as this seems to be common practise for Lenovo/DR in Ireland. I wish I could leave ZERO STARS.

I have followed up DOZENS of times. Each time you get a canned, run-around response that their "dedicated team is actively working to provide a solution.” It’s copied & pasted from different members of their so called Customer Service team. I have already filed a complaint with the CCPC and have just filed today with the Small Claims court in Dublin Metropolitan District.

While the monetary value of my purchased goods was relatively small, I will spend whatever money it takes on legal/court fees to see that they are held accountable.
