yup, more fossil fuels is definitely the solution here, definitely no problems there!

its not completely rosy in the garden re wind power. it has its issues which people like to gloss over, particularly the problems in de-commissioning them

this video gives a good balanced overview of the pros and cons...

Well,if all the doom mongering and apocalypse predictions are going to come true then maybe its time to put the climate change agenda on the back burner for a while. Going back to Russia for the glut of our energy source is not a runner anymore. And if the predictions for Germany come true, eg: power blackouts, motor industry collapsing, people dieing from cold in winter,I can absolutely see Germany breaking from the rest of Europe and going back to Russia for energy,

And that means the collapse of the eu.

One thing about the Germans they only ever care about themselves and as you rightly said when push comes to shove they'll hang everyone to keep there manufacturing going, without manufacturing Germany is nothing.

Not a cat in hell's chance Putin will deal with Germany now after them cancelling Nord Stream 2, nationalising Gazprom and freezing it's national assets. They could before, now they are trapped.

If they took a neutral view then possible, instead of following NATO & Biden.

yes we know this, all energy sources are problematic, in their own right, this may in fact always be the case, but its clearly obvious, the end of fossil fuels has come, its over!

so climate change is an agenda now, and should be halted, for what exactly!

again, yes, fossil fuels are done, as its now becoming clearly obvious, global fossil fuel markets are more than likely going to remain to be too unstable to base our economies on, i.e. time to move onto the alternatives, time for us to become big grown ups....

yes, maintaining the status quo of reliance on global fossil fuel markets, will now, more than likely lead to an eu collapse, so, the solution is.....

The US and Russia get stronger while the EU gets weaker. Eventually it will implode. The time for populist governments will be coming across Europe come winter.

I think Russia,China and India getting stronger because they stopped do what USA was telling them before.

EU doesn't have leadership anymore.Look what happened with Germany when Merkel left ! Literally country standing on knees and begging for gas which before was getting very cheap from Russia.

Were is the gas from USA which been promised ? USA was telling lies to EU promising gas !

Were is Greta Tundberg ? Greens in Germany which been promising green energy starting coal mines and burning coal trying get electricity! When before elections they said this will never happen! Were is green in Ireland? Hiding under benches and afraid open them mouth ! How many coal electric plants in Ireland took locks out of the gates ?

As I recall it was the "leadership" of Merkel that left Germany in that position....the leaders now are arguably no worse than the previous incumbents.

Don't worry the EU will start sanctions on them two next and the UK.

Known as one of the world's breadbaskets for its agricultural production, Ukraine accounted for 10% of global wheat exports in 2021, according to the United Nations, while Russia produced about 17% of all wheat globally.

Right, so NOTHING to do with Russia's invasion of a country which accounted for 10% of global wheat exports.

This is on Russia. Anything else is just Russian propaganda.

I thought there was a separate thread for the USSR starting a war with Ukraine to gain control of her oil and gas reserves.

Anyway, as the Fed raise interest rates there is serious risk of indebted countries defaulting. From Bloomberg's Chief Emerging Market correspondent.

No, the only reason that grain is not being exported is because Russia decided to illegally invade its neighbour, steal portions of their grain and make the Black Sea impassable for the rest. If they'd stayed where they belonged, there'd be a no need for sanctions against them, so why don't you crawl back under whatever rock you decided to troll us from. If anyone should feel guilty it's Putin apologists like you somehow trying to make it about the west rather than the thieving invaders and their murderous carnage

Canada and Germany breaking own sanctions.Siemens turbine heading back to Russia .The questions is Why it's took so long then ? And were promised gas from USA then ?

This chart sums it all up what rising inflation does when there are very low interest rates. Probably mid 2021 was the time to act in hindsight, hence where the term behind the curve comes from.

The Ukraine conflict never helped but it is not the reason for it nor covid for that matter.

the dollar is gaining in strength with no end in sight and considering there are around 14 trillion in US dollar debt bonds globally, there's going to be a lot of defaulting and collapsing economies around the world soon.

They been sanctioned ! USA and EU breaking own sanctions ! Let's call things them names please ! USA and EU can't survive without export from Russia ! Same as Germany without Russian gas ! So what was the reason for this cheap clowns show and who will cover people heavy losses? And who will pay high utility bills this Winter? For Russian Gas ! Because gas from USA which been promised by Biden will not arrive!

Farmers in Holland on streets, farmers in Italy started strikes, the farmers of France on way ! Same diesel and fertilizer problems. What was the point jump against the Putin then and now break sanctions against him? War over ? Putin won ? Or money of EU are above people of Ukraine lifes?

So what was the point creating this cheap circus sanctions show ?

A lot of people might be at the beach today have a bbq or go to the park. Like those in Netherlands, Italy or France. Because they are not paranoid fringe lunatics wishing for the downfall of society or collapse of the EU due to life being pretty damn good.

Unfortunately can't afford BBQs, they are too expensive. Can't go on beach because fuel prices and extra expenses as coffee and cake.

The only I can afford free books from local library and wait for downturn hopping that I finally will afford my dream home and all the rest.

I was working really hard saving money for it last 7 years and I hope I will finally have my home .

I will finally come to work on time not one hour earlier and will back home same as most of our company lads ,not hour later. And I finally will have 2 days off every week and will enjoy bank holidays.

So now when I will finally finish this comment I will lift my a.rs from sofa and will go do nixer in my garage.I will finish my work at around 9 pm and will go to bed to wake up early tomorrow to start my work 1 hour earlier than other lads.

I didn't have a single day off this week and won't have next week and week after.

Best get the BBQ in quickly because in 2 weeks the EU coal ban comes in. Poland was ordered to shut 5 of it's six plants, Germany shut most, apart from a few in the East which uses brown coal which is the most pollution type. Watch the price of thermal coal shoot through the roof even more. Quite possible for the bricks on a BBQ to cost more than the burgers in a couple of month.
