I did! That partially prompted me after hearing some of it.
See my póst above.
Any excuse to play the "greatest rock anthems" double cd again.
Anyone catch the 100 Best Guitar Intros over this weekend? If so, what did you think of the selection?
I heard some of it, especially this afternoon as it counted down the Top 40. There were no real surprises - maybe just the positions of some.
They are running a "100 Best Guitar Intros" thing at the moment, the last 4 songs they played don't have guitar intros and are songs they play all the time anyway.....
Do they legally have to play Every Rose Has Its Thorn every few hours?
Absolute bin fire of a station.
I heard some of it last night for the first time in ages. Pat played quite a few tunes from 21st century acts, most of whom I was not familiar with. It was great to get a different selection of tunes from this century. He did play plenty of older album tracks too! Whenever I tuned it, they were certainly not songs I had heard on Radio Nova.
Yeah, reminds me of K...K...K...Kennet from Ross O'Carroll-Kelly
Aussie bloke who quite rates himself.
why is kevin referred to as that ?
Is it something to do with a can of Pringles?
I might actually have a chance to listen to it tomorrow now that it is fresh in my mind again!
Either way, kkkkkkkevin hasn’t got €20 never mind €20k to hand over so I’d be highly suspicious of whoever “wins” the jackpot lol
Its_steve116 OFF THE RECORD still airs every Saturday night from Nine on the Nova Classic Rock channel, Its available via the Nova App,The Nova Web Player (https://www.nova.ie/radio-player/#Nova%20Classic%20Rock ) On Tune In or Nova Classic Rock on any Inter Net Radio. Cheers, Pat.
I wonder if the Nova Noise will be won today. 😏
They're giving €20k today if it's won. Would be a bit of a downer if it continued and went back to €10k or whatever it is on Monday. It's going since November. People probably sick of listening to it now.
I haven’t checked it out in a while, but I know Off the Record had moved to Nova’s digital station Classic Rock in 2017 (AFAIR). Initially it was on Sundays as before, but eventually moved to Saturday nights on his request. Over the last year, Pat got a new gig on Radio Nova on Sunday nights presenting the Classic Album at Midnight- a new slot for that.
I miss Pat James on the station. Is his "Off the Record" show still on Nova at all?
Anyone ever listen in the morning and the producer Clint does be on from time to time. Something very odd about him, strange over the top laughs something a bit creepy can't put my finger on it
I happened to hear Kieran McGuinness tonight just after he played his first song for the evening. He thanks Emily Brew for playing "addictive music" for the previous couple of hours. The only problem was that Andy Clarke was on before Kieran - not Emily - I briefly heard him! Emily is normally on that shot alright. Kieran must have assumed she was on before him!
yes indeed. I knew Coverdale was from Yorkshire in England.
But listening last night, I honestly thought the show was a parody depicting a member of Pink Floyd, or some such UK band.
Think last night was the first time. Heard him on Planetrock a couple weeks back, very posh indeed.
when did the syndicated David Coverdale (Whitesnake) programme start on Nova Sunday evenings ?
I had never heard Coverdale speak before this !!
As I no doubt said somewhere before, they were the successful applicant in a competition for a classic rock license.
To be fair to nova, I don't think they even call themselves a classic rock station. They are a station that plays guitar based music from the last 4 decades.
I think we all wanted them to be more like Planet Rock but that bubble burst a long time ago. Could it do better ,of course but at least its a far better listen than it was 2 or 3 years ago.
So classic rock it plays Jack Johnson.
I know what its supposed to be but it's clearly not a classic rock station so why not some Tool.
Do you realise that it's supposed to be a classic rock station?
I can dream 😆 Maybe in 2 weeks I'll be driving to work and hear a bit Stinkfist or Hooker With a Penis.
I have heard Tool on Nova. Tony Ainscough has played them on the Friday Night Rock Show.
I also wonder are they really playing the vinyl love on air, like they say they are ?
Or just transferring them to a file for later playout ?
