Edit horror channel is actually called legend now for some reason
Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Two have swapped their SD/HD versions by default on Sky
I don't have a Sky sub myself, but maybe the need for the HD sub is no longer required, or it could have changed by accident
Same on my box, hopefully its a permanent change
whatever the reasoning is behind making HD versions of these two channels available to non HD subscribers, it is the first time I can remember Sky doing something like this, they must be going soft and I bet it is a bid to stop losing subscribers.
I have HD. And Virgin HD channels have moved to the 800s!
Unlike virtually every other provider, Sky have a highly regulated EPG and publish their rules publicly and they are required to follow them.
The rules regarding HD channel swap are on pages 22 and 23. Note if you had the HD pack VMTV1&2 would always have been on 103 and 105. In that regard, can anyone without a HD sub confirm that VMTV 1&2 HD are now available?
Yes, VMTV 1&2 HD are now available? On my Sky q box (With no HD subscription).
I don’t have sky but just out of interest , is it actual HD? I know a few times in the past the had the HD dog on the saorview feed in error
It is HD, i noticed straight away when I flicked TV3 on, purely due to the picture quality , not by a DOG!
I will be more inclined to watch more content on TV3 now because of this, I don't have the sky hd pack so only had in SD.
So well done to whoever deserves the credit for this?
Going from the VM Television Thread. VM are to launch a 5th channel called VM Four in the near future. I wonder where this channel is going to be placed on the Sky EPG here by then. Could it be placed under the main channels near the top of the EPG?
VM4 to show what? Will it be on Saorview or just satellite?
To reshow what has been in ITV4? Seems pointless,
It's not the first time, RTÉ One, RTÉ2 and TG4 have their HD versions on 101, 102 and 104 since they launched. Normally only FTA channels have the HD version as their primary number and not in the 800's
I can only presume this change has to do with the new Q Lite subscription, which is now available from Sky
It makes the dross PQ they put out on Saorview even more farcical.
My point is that something that was only available as part of the HD Pack has been made available to non HD subscribers. As you say RTE 1 etc were all available in HD from the start, but that was because those channels (not 100% sure about TG4) could not be seen to be charged extra as already paying for them via the TV Licence etc.
5th Channel? I only count 3 at the minute so is it a 4th channel you mean
Counting VM More on cable too.
Hopefully it will appear on the Irish Sky epg!
Just another BBC budget cut, really.
It's little more than a re-brand to cut costs and scrap the world service. Personally I've never understood the need to simulcast breaking stories on BBC1. I would imagine anyone with BBC1 will also have access to the news channel. /rant
Does anyone know if it's possible to change the epg to the UK EPG on a sky+HD box with a old Irish Sky card?
They also simulcast on BBC2 in mornings when schools are off (if not more commonly than that)
Last time I checked you needed a UK card, put the card in the box and do a new install, you can then remove the card.
BBC 2 NI HD currently broadcasting on the frequency below. Channel IDs are 11015 and 1199.
12226 H, DVB-S2, 8PSK, 27500, 2/3.
You’d think but the BBC News Channel has never been on the Sky EPG in Ireland, despite the fact that the BBC apparently have no issue making it available to Irish providers and indeed VM Ireland is one of the few providers in the world where the BBC News Channel and BBC World News are (or certainly used to be) on the same EPG almost next to each other. It’s a news channel and there are little or no rights issues to be overcome. Now the BBC requires that Sky pay it to make its channels available here, so perhaps there’s a bit of Sky not wanting to pay to have a potential competitor to Sky News on its EPG. We’ll never know really.
BBC News and BBC World News are on the Vodafone TV EPG also.
Aside from BBC Two NI HD; there are four more channels undergoing testing on Sky at the moment.
Yesterday HD
Channel 4 HD from outside of London
Classic Hits
Sky Sports Main Event UHD
Out of these four additional channels; Classic Hits tests are FTA. The rest of them are encrypted.
Any word on what's happening with Yesterday's HD? Is it going to be free to air or is it Sky HD rip off
It went live and is encrypted so part of a sky subscription:
Yesterday joins sister channels Alibi, Dave, Gold and W in being available in high definition on Sky’s TV platforms. Only Drama and Eden remain SD only.
While Yesterday SD is free-to-air and available on all major TV platforms, Yesterday HD is part of a Sky TV subscription. Similar arrangements also exist for other HD channels that are free-to-air in standard definition only, such as ITV 2 HD, E4 HD and Dave HD.

There's a HD nature / wildlife channel been testing for a while called Earthx TV on 11670 H 23000 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK SID 50260
I didn't mention it previously because I assumed it would go encrypted long before now.
