Some onlookers perhaps, I'm appalled by the lot of it and actually disgusted by the Virtue signalling towards a certain Cohort.
But of course we know who's leading the Virtue signalling charge don't we 😏
The problem for FF is that the electorate is already beginning to think of FF and FG as the same party. One of the opinion polls asked about second preferences and FF and FG transferred most to each other. That transfer toxicity must be worrying them because if the electorate considers FF/FG to be a single party then FF and FG candidates will be competing more with each other in a GE rather than with SF or other candidates. Martin seems to be a wannabe FGer more than an FFer and that seems to have alienated a lot of these FFers who now seem to be planning to replace him.

Hmm, Manufacturered media magnification, on that I'll agree, started around early March and appears not to have slowed down..
Meanwhile in Ireland...........
I am appalled that the Kinnegad community saw no problem in putting meat factory workers and fruit-pickers into that cramped and crowded situation, but object to Syrian refugees. Can you get any more racist than we only want the slaves that work?
There is no situation that the number of people in the hotel has increased, just that they are now Syrian refugees rather than meat factory workers and fruit-pickers.
Gosh we agree, not of course the only community up in arms not so long ago protesting about DP centres arriving on their door steps, only to find spiritual redemption, new found enlightenment of kindness and genoristy , towards a particular cohort of Refugee.
I call it Hypocrisy....
Confirmation ofthe MNOC. Let the deflection games begin. :)
There is no need for any deflections and it should fail like all the rest of them. It's another dumb SF symbolic move and few politicians in the Dail would thank them if they were to get their own Brexit moment.
Pretty good interview on Morning Ireland 😏 interesting discussion on Turf (can i say that word) also.
I don't get the importance and excitement that some posters are attaching to this. It will be defeated soundly, and is just a vehicle for Pearse and Mary-Lou to foam at the mouth for a few hours of sound-bites. Isn't that just everyday stuff?
Hardly ever listen to Morning Ireland. The turf issue is causing problems for rural politician and it will be spun as a clueless Jackeen politician interfering. The rural FFG politicians are probably more aware of the threat of Ryan's brainfart to their electoral prospects. At this stage, the government could be depending on Independents to vote for it in this MNOC.
Sore much?
A MONC is a tactical move and doesn't neccessarily need to be won. It's politics after all.
I rarely listen to RTE anymore, but had it on in the car. I tweeted a pic of my T**F Delivery to Eamonn, sadly got no response, I was gutted 😉
The Indo seems to have some of the details of the meeting. From the article, it seems like the FFers want to replace Martin.
The Tories got rid of Johnson but he's staying as long as he can. The FFers may be thinking of getting rid of Martin before the handover in December. Wouldn't it be funny if some FFers voted against the government in the MNOC to make a point about Martin's grovelling to FG? :) Probably never happen though. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Apparently, Martin wants to lead FF into the next GE. That should scare FFers.
Anyone with the slightest bit of cop on and political know how can see that the proposed monc vote is to put the spotlight on recently defected govt TDs. Make them put their cards on the table so to speak.
Understandably enough, govt supporters are more than slightly aggrieved by this, trying to downplay the significance (and likely success of it).
Tactically though, I think it's a smart move by SF, who are out manoeuvring at every turn, an absolutely clueless and gormless government who are blindly stumbling from one disaster to another, and keeping in mind we've recently had governments who had to call in the IMF, and the water charge fiasco, that's no mean feat .
It's not about winning the MONC (blanch and is that so) it's all about the optics and repercussions for the "other side".
Personally I hope this sham forced marriage staggers on full term, because ultimately the ongoing damage will be irreparable in the end.
Why would some FFers vote against the Government in a MONC, triggering an immediate general election, which would see Martin stay on as leader? It seems that the mere mention of a MONC sets off giggling and strange excitement in the ranks.
I think the Irish independent a verified account, apologies if its not 😉
The Turf Wars seem to be escalating. Ryan wants to ban the sale of turf online.
This may bog down FFG's plans for reelection.
Scrutiny, blanch. That is where the win is for an opposition. Asking a party that is obviously split on it's leader (secret meetings etc) has the potential to politically damage them. If it were FG or FF history shows they would use this age old political tactic too.
Cheeky I know, but fun 😁
Such a ban would affect about 1% of the population, can't see it making much of a difference
The research found almost 14% of households use turf, including 4% for whom it is their primary source of heating.29 Apr 2022
An extremely important percentage I might add, as ALL rural TD'S know full well 😏
Still tiny number, half of whom will never support Sinn Fein at a guess
A guess that is entirely wrong, not only that but Many Independent TD"s and indeed Government TD'S very dependent on this "Tiny" number as you call us.
Screaming match on the Friday Gathering, Claire Byrne RTE radio 1 😁
You'd think if the government really were confident you'd think they'd be a bit more calm and measured.
The thoughts that I gave Higgins a preference at the last election. That said she's more preferable to John Curran.
Indeed 😏
It is about being Irish rather than EUnuchs. (The unelected European Commission will have the final say on these regulations according to the media.) Turf is a cultural thing and it may not mean much to Ryan but outside Dublin, it is an issue and people use turf as fuel to heat their houses. This has the potential to become a Country versus the Jackeens issue and rural TDs realise that it may cost them their seats. It may have little effect on the people who vote for Ryan but FF/FG TDs who may find their seats at risk may not be so eager to support Ryan's antics.
I doubt if the "Kinnegad community" had any say when the meat factory workers and fruit pickers were put into the hotel. Probably a deal was made to house them between the hotel owners and their employers, just as the community had no say when the department made a similar deal the owners to house refugees. If as you say that its "cramped and crowded" then many organs of the state has failed both sets of hotel guests and the owners of the hotel should be held to account for the situation not the local community.
From what I've read so far, nowhere has it being mentioned that the problems that are being reported now also occurred when the workers resided in the hotel, possibly due to the fact that after a day working in a meat factory or picking fruit, the residents were only fit for the bed.
Placing 150 fit young men in a small community with nothing to do , was never going to end well, irrespective of their creed or colour.
I'm sure you won't find it too difficult to read back over from my post to figure out who's disgusting behaviour I am referring to.
It will be interesting to see if FFG have as much support as they think in the Dail, Budget coming up too.
