No, a motion of no confidence will allow a stock take of where we are at. They are not always called to be won. They are tactical.
Hence the palpable anger here. I can feel it.
Anger? Because I suggested someone will piss all over your popcorn, you think I am angry?
A motion of no-confidence is a complete waste of time as it has no chance of passing.
You can tell by the anger of government fans that they will hate the scrutiny.
Francie has never wavered on his view that the government should pay for the incompetence of it’s regulatory systems.
That costs the taxpayer and we can show what we think at the next election.
Spouting some nonsense about ‘lessons learnt’ will not cut it here. They fucked over many lives, and that is going to cost us all.
No, Francie won't say that he is prepared to write a blank cheque. He will just wait to see which way the wind is blowing and either criticise the government for it not being enough or for it being too much.
That popcorn is likely to very soggy because this won't be much of a watch. Motion hasn't a hope in hell of passing.
An excuse for SF posturing.
Haven't heard that word in years 😂😂 Nincompoops, but so apt to discribe this government 😉
There you go again with the time wasting. But I have to admit I got a good laugh out of the earlier one. - "Wasting another few days of the governments time in the middle of a housing crisis. 🤦♂️" 😂🤣
Not sure this needs reminding, but FG have been in government since 2011, and have done nothing for the housing crisis. It has got a lot worse during their tenure, and the numbers of homeless (that are 'low' according to the buffoon in 2017) have been rising too.
What exactly is this collection of nincompoops going to do in a few days that they haven't been able to do in at least 11 years (in the case of FG)?
It’s just time wasting, I posted about a video from FF calling out the opposition for its incoherent alternative budgets, guess how they follow that up, not with coming up with a decent alternative, nah fired up the old “no confidence vote” and hope everyone forgets
Then in the middle of all the twitter posts we had an article about a “secret “ meeting that was so secret the people attending posted on Twitter about it
🤦♂️😂
Of course most of us understand its grandstanding, highly unlikely to succeed and takes up little or no time from government apart from the fact their TD'S have to be in Dail (god bless them, with it so close to holiday's), heck they may even have to say something.
It's hardly a waste of time if it has the desired affect and I can only begin to imagine the amount of no confidence motions, FFG will table after next GE, records will be broken 😉
It would be unfortunate if FFG lost but it would be unlikely. For the sheer spectacle of having FFG to defend its record, it might be worth it for SF to go for it.

Fascinating History of No confidence Motions on Wikipedia, apparently another source of wako information, very interesting what parties have called the most no confidence motions 😏
The way some are posting you'd think it was a new concept exclusive to a particular party 🙄
A motion of no confidence in FFG?
That would be fun.
Don't think I have ever mentioned the cost of the Children's hospital.
I have zero issue with people being properly compensated for governmental incompetence....incompetence which has also led to the ballooning cost of the NCH funnily enough
How many are there now?
Their 3rd? And all of them failed.
SF with another own goal
They shoot their load early, instead of waiting for the post-budget months of October/November when the pressure will really be on the government.
I think they do this on purpose knowing that they cant call another one for 6 months, which means the government continues.
There's the arrogance.
There is no guaranteed seat for anyone. McHugh's act symbolises the peril the governing parties are in, in Donegal.
It's called empathy, Irish people in the main have that and the price tag would not matter.
Weren't you giving out about the cost of the National Children's Hospital recently?
Now here you are prepared to write a blank cheque in the Billions to homeowners in Donegal.
The 'Francie twist and turn' on display yet again. :D
At the moment there are 2 SF 1 Ind 1 FG (now lost the whip) and 1 FF seat in Donegal.
If a Mica candidate ran, they would bleed votes from the Indo first, then SF, then FF/FG.
There is two seats for the government in Donegal whatever happens. SF would want a third seat, so its bad news for them really.
No analysis
No critical thinking
No deep dive
No reflection
No Comprehension
No Understanding
and least of all
No Sense.
Just driving Twitter-esque posting and reposting of idiots from Twitter to be rehashed here as 'debate'.
I've been dipping in and out of this thread for a few weeks now and not ONCE has there been any policy discussion. It's all about what MM had for lunch or what socks Leo wore etc..
You didnt answer the question.
If the idea of someone finishing 3rd in a GE offends you, that means you don't like the PR-STV system. Or are you just posting up stuff again you don't seem to understand, comprehend or barely read?
"Wasting another few days of the governments time in the middle of a housing crisis. 🤦♂️"
That is hilarious.. 🤣😂 Possibly the funniest thing I have seen on boards.. 🤣
I am happy for them to be made whole.
What data are you making that claim on?
I'm not the opposition, and admitted nothing. I merely expressed my opinion that I was doubtful it would pass. Why the constant need to deliberately misrepresent someone?!
Anyone keeping a count on how many of these motions the opposition have fired up while admitting they wilL never pass
Wasting another few days of the governments time in the middle of a housing crisis. 🤦♂️
The current agreement has raised plenty of eyebrows across the country. The idea that pushing for even more will be readily accepted or even supported by the rest of the country is madness.
You've just careened off on a different point here. There is not currently, nor will there ever be widespread support for increased mica redress across much of the country. Argue its the right thing to do by all means, but that is not the same thing.
The mica money is for people to be made whole not government mismanagement that we've all become accustomed to. Will any raised eyebrows be bringing government incompetence in line?
You say that as if all that other spending didn't raise significant issues and complaint, and the NCH and Metrolink are benefitting far, far more people.
