Determination date changed to 26th July 2022
A new running shop opened today on the Leopardstown Shopping Centre
I'm hearing rumours in the Dalkey Open Forum group on Facebook that AIB in Dalkey could be turned into a mini Dunnes like the one which opened in The Magic Carpet near Cornelscourt. It's pure speculation though as the aforementioned Facebook group has a habit of slipping into parody and satire.
I saw that , but not sure how true it is. The Mag is much bigger and has parking, the one in Monkstown is also bigger with lots of outdoor space.
Supervalue a few doors up would be hard to compete with , especially as they have much more space.

Greenville deli opening in Rathmines today. Across from Tesco.
agree with most of that except supervalu being hard to compete with, exactly what that place needs is competition its a miserable supermarket.
Kilkenny Design have new unit in Nutgrove Sh C, beside Holland and Barrett.
The one in Monkstown is closed and looks like it has been for a while. Hope they don't let it slip into dereliction like they did with so many of the buildings they own on George's St in DL.
They are doing it up, planning was in a while ago. And I believe granted
This is for the foodstore? Didn't realise they got planning for that
If the last three posts are about the Dunnes place in Monkstown, the refusal by DLR co co is still under appeal. The reason it's closed is probably because some of the objections to the current application claimed that the existing unit was operating in a way that was beyond what they had permission for. So Dunnes probably decided it was best to close it until the appeal was decided so as not to aggravate the situation.
The decision was due by May 3rd and that date is still shown on the ABP page (link below) but it has slipped to July, see post #5402 above.

Not quite a new business but they have opened up the link road from Ballyogan Road into The Park Carrickmines shopping centre.
Shown on Google Maps as the 'Ballyogan Link Rd'. If you search for 'Sports Direct Carrickmines' and click on the map, you'll see it........

Yeah its handy - opened just before Christmas BTW.
New kebab place called Harbour Kebab in DL opening soon in the unit on the corner of York Road and George's Street Lwr which has changed hands numerous times in recent years.
I'd be interested to see if they last given there's currently no kebab shops in DL. I'd be interested to see if they're a cheap low market kebab shop like some of the places in town around the likes of Dorset or Clanbrassil Street, a more upmarket place like Zaytoon or somewhere in middle. Kebab shops don't seem to be as big here as they are in the UK or on the continent especially Germany (where they seem to be everywhere).
It used to be called Just4D1 or something like that? That place right on the corner?
Didn't know it had closed but yeah, that unit has gone through a few different owners since the Pig And Heifer closed and that was only a couple of years ago.
That was a great cafe.
I remember one day, just after it closed, I wanted one of their Mile High Club Sandwiches so bad I took the dart into their Pearse Street branch for it.
Powercity in Sallynoggin appears to be nearing completion. Couldn't understand what was wrong with the old store to close it for well over a year to completely flatten it and rebuild it from the ground up. But hey hopefully there might some good deals when they reopen.
I saw the owner the other day. Big fat lad. I know that sounds terrible. But I think he knows his food. Hopefully quality meat and not the mass produced shite. I was only asking a mate not long ago about going halves on a proper kebab place in DL. will rake it in if it's proper. If not I'm next. You heard it here first.
Is Kebab Hut gone from DL? Jaysis businesses in that unit at York Rd/St. Georges St Lwer never last.
I wonder if Harbour Kebab are the same owners as Harbour Chinese near the park.
Haha. Probably has the potential to do well out of the restaurants that have opened in that unit if it's good say it would well with Just Eat and Deliveroo orders aswell. Not really the best end of DL though.
Yeah i can’t understand why they didn’t build several floors of apartments above it
It seems to be part of their business model for all their shops to be large standalone locations as opposed co locating with other businesses. Carrickmines was built from the ground up as opposed to taking an existing unit. Not sure how they survive as Harvey Norman is often cheaper at least for TVs.
Wrong thread
They say you should never trust a skinny cook
Didn't know they had closed Sallynoggin but based on the setup in Carrickmines, I'm betting that when Sallynoggin reopens, it will look like all they did was lay a new carpet 😁
I had to read that twice 😂😂
Maybe Daddy pulled the plug, refusing to cover any more losses.
Yep looks very similar to Carrickmines from the outside at least from the view I got from the outside of the vehicle I was driving at the time. It seems they've made it a bit bigger by incorporating the former coal yard behind the shop but I never found the shop particularly cramped or lacking in stock previously. I believe they've had permission since 2018.
Pretty sure powercity and woodies were re-done because of asbestos. Saw the specialist vans on both sites.
Nobody want's lung cancer while shopping for the washing machine.
Nonsense. Asbestos is only an issue when you start disturbing it by drilling, cutting etc.
leave it alone and it’s grand
My father has been removing asbestos all over the world since 1983. That has nothing to do with it fair enough. But I know how it works.
But there were specialists in asbestos removal outside both buildings, the same crowed that are looking after the houses on the end of albert road.
I was just saying 🙅
