Finally a vacant property tax is being introduced in the next budget. The minister said a few weeks ago it would be sometime in 2023. Why do you have the embarrass the coalition of chaos into action???
59000 empty properties. I imagine it's higher. What took them so long to wake up?
No surprises there then.
Open season on leaking. Just say sorry and you'll be ok.
The irony of a party born of fascism with members still openly admiring blueshirts and others looking to honour the RIC/Tans, falsely using racism to distract from their **** self serving housing policy.
No charges against Leo. Leaves SF in a great position if they do become lead party in Govt.
The precedent is set, no future minister will ever be charged for leaking confidential government information, they can do it with impunity
Really, When did Ukrainians I.E White Europeans stop being that ? This is just a new low For the Racism angle.
Is your eyesight seeing me criticise the government on this Mat? Never knew paranoia was contagious.
At local level potentially yes, you would have to show what they were responsible for as you are the one at great pains to tell us they ruined housing. Also by majority you are including every councillor not FF/FG like they are one unit. Which is odd considering your claims nobody will work with SF, yet we are to believe they all come together to save the FF/FG blushes.
So you now believe the two parties with the most councillors, housing and LA minister and calling the shots nationwide for over a decade are too, no?
An investment group from Germany knowing how much Ireland is ripe for the picking, is buying up properties knowing the DCC will be leasing them for 25 years. This is becoming common place. Not a good deal for the tax payer.
Every one of your comments posed questions, regarding your not understanding so I obliged.
There was no racism and nobody was defending any racism. You made it all up.
Excellent rumble.
Govt now sitting on worse foundations than the Mica family homes
We see claims on here of homophobia and racism but quelle surprise, no evidence to back these claims up.
Did I criticise the government here?
I criticised whoever it was who moved the woman down the list and objected to the government fans labeling her racist.
Give over FFS!
Have they?
McHugh isn't running at the next GE. This is blaze of glory stuff.
Ireland Govt we can do nothing about energy costs
France of course we can
So that leaves me with the conclusion that you want the freedom to criticise the government no matter which option they choose. It took us a while to get to the fully expected conclusion.
Joe will now be called a Shinner
Hes also just resigned the whip
I have not offered an opinion nor intend to. If I do, you will be able to comment on it. Any comment you do make is based on assumptions and inventions.
McHugh is not running in the next election and is not happy with how his constituents are being treated. I had posted on here around a week or so ago saying that McHugh would jump ship and I was right.
I thought I had also written or for monetary gain too.. But I take your point, I wasn't thinking straight as was rushing out.
Yeah, so he is just another typical FFG head, or tbh, a Politician.
According to her 'biography' she arrived here as a refugee too. Only she doesn't seem to be getting the same prioritisations as the Ukrainians. That may be one of the reasons she is complaining also. I still don't get how her motiviation is to provoke racists as you said earlier though.
I am not putting words in your mouth, I am parsing the evasive nature of your replies in trying to understand the substance of your views. It still isn't clear who you want the government to prioritise in terms of housing.
Now you are inventing stuff again. Pathetic.
I challenged the bull that it was racist.
You still haven't told us how it was.
STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH.
*Caps for emphasis and in sheer bloody frustration with this repeated carry on.
New tax on vacant properties planned for the Budget.
The latest figures from the Revenue Commissioners show that the majority of vacant properties - 61% - have been vacant for under a year.
Revenue said 22% of the owners said the properties were vacant due to ongoing refurbishment, while 20% said they were holiday homes.
More than one in ten of the vacant properties are in Dublin City, followed by almost 9% in Cork City, and over 7% in Co Kerry.
Correct why should they be prioritised over Irish people on homeless lists for upto a decade? Not to mention direct provision residents getting put behind the Ukranians in the que (i.e not white europeans)
That may be considered racism
Are you saying that she is right to criticise the government, or is it just the usual FG/FF/Green wrong each time?
If the government prioritise Ukrainian refugees for housing, Francie will criticise them for that.
If the government prioritise those on the housing list ahead of Ukrainian refugees, Francie will criticise them for that.
Am I right? All you have to do is tell us which policy you favour.
I'm saying it is not racism to criticise the housing authorities.
Do keep up blanch.
Given that there was an opposition majority on DCC when this happened, should we blame them?
He can't really lose by backing them. It's like TD objections to planning requests, it plays very well close to home. Reports suggest he'll do a Lowry for the government and be a loyal vote on other things.
Are you saying that we shouldn't prioritise those refugees fleeing wars on our common EU border? Just trying to understand your logic and your argument.
Nope, this is a one-off local issue and it's not a surprise to see his stance. Just a bit of a minor embarrassment. As the RTE report above points out he'll back them on other things and those bold Greenies will be back soon enough.
What?! McHugh is literally trying to win the local popularity contest.
The protesters demands are utterly ridiculous, they have gotten more than their fair share with the proposed package.
