How do you pin down someone who doesn't give a crap? Johnson as we know is right out of the Trump playbook, just act like a bollix and you'll get away with it. Simple scandals that would have sunk many another minister are just swatted away as the next scandal arises and the next one.
As someone puts it above, British democracy is essentially based on politicians behaving like gentlemen/ women and doing the 'right thing'. When you get a rogue, they just stick two fingers up and carry on :)

That seems somewhat delusional to me. The electoral map is very tough for Starmer sans Scotland. It would have to be a Labour Lib Dem coalition with voting pacts.
But Starmer wants power ASAP, make no mistake about it. He's just powerless to do anything about it.
In terms of the Conservatives, I am of course enjoying their disgust that the guy they apologized and enabled through criminality and lying to parliament won't 'do the right thing' now. The U.K. is getting what it deserves. A Prime Minister and government that ably embodies the quality of their societal discourse. Starmer's bland centrism will only serve to further move the Overton window rightward. It's grim stuff all around.
Javid did a good impression of being a human for five minutes. Do not be fooled.
Starmer is deeply unpopular with a fringe sector of the Labour party who had their chance at power and were rejected overwhelmingly.
Labour are doing absolutely fine in the polls.

I don’t get the praise for Javid. He said he gave the prime minister the benefit of the doubt and listed countless examples, after the sue gray report being one. There was zero doubt after the findings of that report. He’s full of shite. He knew exactly who Boris was , the entire Tory party did long long ago. Just another snake in the grass trying to salvage his reputation.
Agreed - They are all furiously trying to wash off the stink before "emerging" to challenge for the leadership hoping that everyone forgets all that they did and didn't do during Johnsons tenure.
Was reading on Twitter that if there was a no confidence vote by the Tories, a possible course of action would be Johnson refusing to go and threatening to call a general election and deselecting anyone who doesn't then back him. So it's possible Johnson would use the threat of that to try and prevent another no confidence vote.
Risky maneuver, he could potentially split the party which would men a Labour landslide in an election thanks to FPtP.
And even if he didn't split the party whose to say he could win an election under such obvious pretenses and his polling is gonna just keep getting lower on top of all that.
They'd almost certainly lose the election, or at least lose their majority and have to try form a coalition (doubtful anyone would side with them though). But I think that's what Johnson would be counting on; back me or I'll call an election and knock us out of government.
