May as well start the ball rolling.
Not a fan of French commentators in general
They're always too droll for me , this guy reminds me of Thierry Henry
They're always at it they're the same with snooker
What is with the BBC constantly switching matches on channels?
Or not.... no sooner had I posted than Goffin had an easy break of serve.
no need to apologise! you'd have had a point if I posted for the first time once he won the 3rd set and broke immediately in the fourth!
Oh fair enough i thought the time was off on the posts. Sorry
Goffin looked like he had an easy first set against Norrie, but Norrie just held serve from 0-40 to keep second set on serve 3-2.
There are a lot of long rallies, this may take some time!
I posted the minute Djokovic was midway through breaking him for the first time.
compare that proper game spirit to the absolutely odious Kyrgios railing at the umpire and "call the supervisors" trying to get Tsitsipas disqualified / defaulted!
Ya of course helps win the crowd for djoko but still
Mon Sinner !
nice bitta sportsmanship by Djoko there earlier :)
Djokovic has a 5th set win record of 78.3% (36 -10)
He has a deciding set record of 72.4 % (all deciding sets 3 and 5)
Sinner deciding sets record is 63% (no significant 5 set record) - obviously shorter sample size than Djokovic
Sinner's ankle seems ok - didn't go over on it and was playing full stretch after it
He was coming back into the match more in that game
Would not count him out of this contest at all, he still very much has fight and game left in him.
Its been a combination of Djokovic playing much better and Sinner playing much worse!
Caroline Wozniacki.
Novak definitely winning , but very easy to post that 10mins ago to be honest. Dont know anyone on here that would have backed Sinner 10 mins ago.
It's very much a fifth set affair at this point.
Great turnaround from Djokovic from where the match was with Sinner winning all the longer rallies and Djokovic showing some iffy shot selection making more errors.
Night and day quality comparison.
A fifth set does give a clean slate chance to both but looking like Djokovic has momentum.
if anyone thinks Novak is losing this, you haven't been paying attention for the last decade.
Sinner has been thinking about it since the start of the third when he started drifting further back on the court. And Novak has gone up a gear anyway.
it's a cruise from here.
Reckon fatigue is the only thing that might lose it for him but can't see it
Think he'll cruise the 4th
As expected Djokovic takes the third (he was never gonna be straight-setted in fairness)
Will be interesting to see if fatigue is a factor for him if it goes the distance.
Easy now with the "old wan" jibes!!
I really enjoyed that match, hope she can take it a step further now. She held her nerve well.
Although if (as I'd expect) Jabeur gets through her match, that will be a tough ask.
He'll cruise to this in 5 sets now.
I wouldn't be putting money on Novak anymore these days at the sharp end of big tournaments.
Looks like 3-2 djokovic this one I reckon
Mental strength experience and nerve the deciding factors
Sinner taken his chances to date, came back very well in the first set. Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Hopefully he can hold out a Djok resurgence and send the old fella packing!
Pleased though to see the equally old wan Maria winning in the womens. A victory over another one dimensional whacker of the ball, just like Ostapenko. At least Maria has more to her game and mixes defence, a good serve and attack. Better all round player imho.
Well this scoreline is a nice surprise so far! 😎
Regardless of whether or not he goes on to win the match, this has been a great tournament for Sinner. Nice of him to remind people that he's still a prospect, with everything Alcaraz has achieved inside the last few months I think Jannik got forgotten about. Plus he's still only 20!
Sinner too far back now.
Letting Novak dictate easily the last couple of games.
Sinner is really playing well! Thoroughly deserves the lead...but Djokovic fired up in the third!
Ya djokovic to hold serve and get a break in this set
Bring it back to 2-1 you can almost depend on it
Djokovic down two sets to Sinner and looking a bit lost. Before this game, I thought Sinner would give him a good battle but wasn't expecting this!
Still, no one does 5 set comebacks better than Djokovic.
Let's see if the toilet break helps.
