I can just imagine how the bathroom would smell!
Yes, carpet would likely put up a fight if you tried to remove it.
But, that looks like a house with an interesting history. If walls could talk.
Despite the carpeted bathroom, it does look interesting and lovely in an old fashioned kind of way. Not fond of the angry looking plant in the corner of the living room, that would have to go 😄
Patio makes me think of a slave plantation in the southern US.
I'd love a few hours to have a root around. 😂
The smelly bathroom is accessed from outside but there is a loo inside according to the blurb. It's a strange house outside with all the different styles and the turret, but the inside could be amazing in the right hands.
It appears that all the stone work has been repaired and they already had planned to build another house there. Looks like they ran out of money. You could use the existing structures for a lot less than €300k
Who'd rent house like this
The only way to do an outdoor swimming pool in Ireland - heated and with a retractable roof cover!
The swimming pool and hot tub are new, strange to put them in and then sell.
Swimming pools are a load of hassle to maintain and a liability. Lots of people get rid of them in places where you think they would be a selling feature.
Yes there is something about the house, it's old fashioned of course but nice too.
The setting looks really peaceful or something.
I find more remeniscent of an Australian homestead verandah like below.
Fabulous on a long hot summer evening for a few refreshments.
When I looked at it I saw a happy family home, it looks cosy and lived in. I'm guessing the owners passed away.
People's circumstances change, sometimes quite abruptly, maybe they had no intention of selling, but life thought otherwise.
That's exactly what I thought of too
True, maybe I'm too cynical but my first thought was there must be a problem with the swimming pool. It must cost a fortune to heat too.
I think you may be right - there must be some issues with the pool or house. The house looks good and its good location wise but the price seems a bit too good with a heated pool with retractable roof.
Could be any reason, maybe they decided to upgrade, a house they were looking at came on the market.. Admittedly less likely though.. 😄 Could be emigrating etc..
What is the arch thing over the swimming pool?
It's a retractable roof so the pool can be used in all weather.

1) It's a shed.
2) Secret? How?
What’s a secret cove ?
Its a thing like what they don't have at that house.
Gerry Ryans old house finally sells. Wonder how much they got for it.
Home of the late Gerry Ryan in Dublin’s Clontarf sold after return to market with reduced price (msn.com)
I have no idea. I hear the word cove and I think of a small inlet on the coast. I look at that article and I see a shed. And I have no idea how a shed can be secret.
Edit: I can't even see how the second definition fits it.
Here's the listing for the house. https://www.daft.ie/for-sale/end-of-terrace-house-27-saint-brigids-road-lower-drumcondra-drumcondra-dublin-9/3956120
Outside gardens: The rear yard is a family sized space which benefits from a sunny west facing aspect. The garden also includes raised flower beds, pond detail, mature trees and hedging surround, sun filled patio area and convenient gated access to the rear. To the front of this Victorian home there is a city style cast iron gated garden with gravel inset. There is also on street residents permit parking.
I can't reconcile that description with the pictures at all. I know estate agents are known for their flowery language but that is ridiculous.
More like a cave than a cove!
"I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you."
Exactly.
Whoever wrote that must have been rereading their Enid Blyton books, the Famous Five - Julian, Dick, Anne, George and Timmy the Dawwwwwg. I'm sure they discovered secret coves in their time.
Meanwhile yes, it's a shed, and not particularly secret.
It's a coal shed surely? A secret cove 🤣
