Mr Price wouldnt bring the footfall needed for the SC to survive. It will have to be M&S, TK Maxx maybe or something along those lines. Peter Mark is probably ok there as they wouldnt really be getting random clients, it would be mostly repeat custom pre booked id imagine but the other shops won't last long without a big name going in there.
M&S wouldn't last in Carlow , too pricey
H&M and TK maxx do very well in Kilkenny, so I could see them doing well in Carlow.
They do alright in Clonmel which is considerably smaller than Carlow now in terms of population
If M&S come to Carlow I'll be bankrupt in no time.
Some Carlow Census 2022 population figures https://carlow-nationalist.ie/2022/06/23/carlows-population-now-over-60k-census-2022/?fbclid=IwAR1wlwhuDZXK0YZYKDEURr0RQOIq1EEeyubUn3NXV0PbCXkDy_o2OEnrI-U
275 Holiday Homes in Co. Carlow bejayney? The WUM in me suggests it's cos they made a mistake and/or couldn't afford to buy in Co. Wexford.....?
I had a look on the CSO website earlier. Graigue Urban (the village / triangle) has a population of 1665, and Graigue rural has a population of 5323, so 6988 total. Didn't realise it was so large
Where's the pedestrian crossing on Barrack St.?
There's one @ Fairgreen & another @ bus park + another at top end of Tullow St./Shamrock Square (or Plaza as it is now...) but are they all zebra crossings with lights or are some just a crossing with lights/
Use all 3 often enough; I'm clearly not paying attention sufficiently....
Nationalist article on same https://carlow-nationalist.ie/2022/06/23/first-rainbow-crossing-to-be-unveiled-next-month/?fbclid=IwAR090knv6IHxCSkSaWGeuj3y3yRsjf5Nhx1t_FwkJ1xub9uJeDFoF03CxEo
Is it not the crossing just below the entrance to the fairgreen?
As for the rainbow crossing I'm kinda struggling to see how it's of any value? Surely they could come up with something better? It's not as if the crossing was segregated or bigoted.
Population is now up to 62k in Carlow, up 8% on the previos census. The figures suggest that Carlow/Kilkenny as an area will get an extra TD as a result but on the basis that we've never had 6 seater constituencies in this country that means a boundry redraw is quite possible.
Gym in Eire og has closed permanently according to a sign on the door
Last thing we need is more of these overpaid idiots. We have more than enough TDs nationally
Need to change the costitution so.....
I’d have no issue with that. Up the numbers of “representation” per TD
Carlow Exchange (a roof over Tullys Yard in old money....) due to open by end of July https://carlow-nationalist.ie/2022/06/25/date-set-for-opening-of-new-carlow-exchange/?fbclid=IwAR2f4unIf6nPlQvVJLkK4IO-QJqHGew_xoYJiFz5Kl8Q480NWjf3ORxBsNs

Pan Celtic Festival is coming back to Carlow in April 2023; it had been due to be here in 2020 > https://carlow-nationalist.ie/2022/06/28/pan-celtic-festival-back-in-carlow-next-year/?fbclid=IwAR388TxTp2xGHTZPODWcmnaXabemh1dlZuzx1ByyI-3C0rFj6uXunrEp-x4
The new Penneys in Carlow is “grand”, was in it, big but nothing amazing. It is what it is really- a revamp of the old store.
I liked the one in the old Superquinn.
I found the staff in Penney's really helpful, and lots of them on the shop floor. Other stores could learn from them.
Seen on Facebook that IMC Cinema at Fairgreen is closed until further notice. Anyone got any insight as to what happened the other night?
Looks like the med bar is getting ready to be reopened there seems to be work going on inside it.
Two more skips loaded up Tuesday; nothing in it worth a skip dive for though; toilet with seat but everything else looked like broken tiles & rotten wood etc.
Tentatively reopening in August albeit no specific date.
Rainbow Crossing being installed on Dublin St. @ Coxs Lane junction (broadly speaking @ Mileys Barbers & where Nekos Restaurant is across the road from) today ahead of Carlow Pride Parade which kicks off from Carlow College grounds @ 2;30pm on Sunday.
Hoseys Post Office theft by deception case involving 2 males known to victim; both're due up before Carlow Circuit Ct. on Tuesday https://carlow-nationalist.ie/2022/07/07/second-carlow-man-sent-forward-to-circuit-court-on-deception-charge-at-a-post-office/?fbclid=IwAR1EYYh-QMEtrSjv1EntlK4mdyLJGhLOQa-3nxAiSGKlmHJpgbY4n3qw7AM

Hosey P.O. Theft by Deception case was in Carlow Circuit Ct. today; adjourned til November Two men who allegedly brought body of dead man to post office to claim his pension are charged with deception (msn.com)
It was gone pretty naff looking the last time I was in there. Must be closed 5 years now! Once the “in” place in Carlow
Anywhere in Carlow to get posters?
Or is that not a thing anymore since Xtravision shut?
Depending on what type you are after, GameStop, or ToGo sometimes have them.
And so it rumbles on....... Mr. Price/Dafora to appeal Dunnes Stores "Groceries" court judgement; stay on costs awarded but NOT a stay on Mr. Price being prohibited from selling items as defined under term groceries https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/courtandcrime/arid-40917482.html
Am 100% with Dunnes on this; they're the anchor tenant; they bring & create the footfall for others to attempt gain a percentage of.
Dunnes should move over to the now empty Carlow Shopping Centre and pay rates to Carlow.
Anyone know what the story is with the man who sits on the bench at car and van entrance is just around the corner from the main post office everyday from just before the post office opens till just after it closes?
