They don't even care anymore
China, South Korea, Taiwan, Norway, Denmark, Germany, even Russia to name but a few.
The harsh reality Blanch is Ireland as you'll know benifited massively from EU membership and is now a net contributior. Despite this, the 80"s was a mess, most of 90"s and Then Boom and we know what happened next.
Ireland has in essence become completely dependent on 10 companies and the corporation Tax generated, all perfectly fine but let's not forget, there is no loyalty from these companies. Intel for example could move in a heart beat, un be known to many people they've made many people redundant over the years, they are currently installing massive equipment which in essence wlll replace potentially 1,000"s of staff. I recall Dell pulling out. Of course there's the seperate cosy deals being done to keep them here but yesterday it was reported the Escro account holding billions possibly owed to the state lost a further €350 million last year.
I'm not going to say every policy was bad, it's how government manages crisis that concerns me and indeed polices that are infact akin to playing Russian Roulette.
It's abundantly clear we've been lucky with low interest rates and I'd argue government were ot brave enough to invest more in infrastructure when they could have, it's equally abundantly clear how exposed we are over the past few months and its frankly, scary.
by what metric pretty broad statement ?
Sure let's just stick to the old norm sure it's FF/FG god given right to rule forever very small minded way a thinking the north have spoken with new rule and so will the south it maybe a hard pill to swallow but you'll have too
We have had more homeless children than ever before under them in the last ten years. We break records on homelessness and A&E with times and trolly numbers every other year.
Were FF/FG have control, they fail us. Two absolute melt downs and generations indebted.
Again with the SF. I hope there's more in FF/FG bag of spin the next election. The North and south are different jurisdictions with very different forms of government. Maybe look at what FF/FG have done in the south.
Let's just go back to 1970 and can you name any country that has done better than Ireland over the last 50 or so years?
If memory serves me correctly, we had to call in the Troika after the last housing pyramid scheme/Boom at the hands of FF (the greens were there too for a bit)
FG made FF electable again, Greens too, and now your trying to sell us some kind of tripe that they're saving us from themselves and the mess they made of the place. Gas.
I like your optimism, but be careful what you wish for.
Time will tell ?
Hmmm, Blanch have you forgotten the financial crash, the Bail outs, IMF moving in, which of course we are still paying for.
How about the corruption, Endless tribunals, Jail term and Numerous disgraces.
We know how the housing and Health service crisis and of course homelessnes situation ( those 10k alone don't feel better off)
And how about now, how many middle income folks do you seriously believe feel better off, serious question 🤔
We have a housing disaster for over a decade and getting worse by the month, health service not fit for purpose and special needs kids left behind when it comes to education (also highest class sizes in EU)
Thats 3 of main reasons FF and FG are losing support
The only certainty from FF and FG is that they have brought this country over the last century from the position whereby the people are far better off than they were back then.
The only certainty from Sinn Fein is that they lack experience and competence in government as demonstrated by their actions in the North and in local government.
O you do Marko as you referenced something completely off topic out of the blue and directly related to another Thread I post in regularly, stop with the pretence it's embarrassing.
But let's move on shall we, just wanted to remind you of the little Jibe 😉
I see it's been busy on the Thread, will have to catch up later.
They were different governments!!!! That has been pointed out to you in detail so you tried to shift the goalposts to election promises. You have made a virtue over Sinn Fein taking 40 years to change its mind about the EU, yet you criticise a different government for changing the policy of a previous government. Some neck.
Actually whether or not you agree with the taxes is central to the issues. Putting issues of implementation above the actual issue is a cop-out.
the problem is that things are likely to change for the worse
We have that already. Its the only certainty we can count on from FF/FG.
I think once the next government make the working tax payer a priority they'll not go far wrong. i don't like buying houses or paying for luxury D4 apartment leases for 25 years or hotels or B&B's. Fair enough in an emergency, but the emergency is simply the norm thanks to FF/FG.
I have no idea what other thread you are on about, the comments I am on about are those you made in this thread alone.
...wouldnt worry about it at all, whoever goes in is gonna have a dreadful time, sf wont be able to change much, certainly for the first couple of years anyway
You know what you could be right and who knows but you also you could be very wrong . All I'm saying is people are probably going to take that chance on the behaviour of this government there failure is our hope for better
I remember many of the opposition parties calling for the USC to be gotten rid off before in years gone by. Alas they have changed their tune now.
A well researched and thought out comment.
You wnat to change the point I made to defend the government. Correct?
Whether I agree or not with the taxes is immaterial to my opinion on what the government did around implementing these taxes.
You want a discussion on the efficacy of a single tax, open a discussion on them.
Oh, I think you are correct that Sinn Fein will get into government next time, and things will change, but what is the problem is that things are likely to change for the worse.
Time for a change out with the old and in with the new . The country is crying out for a new government the youth will speak out this time and as I said in the last post it will happen and the ball will get rolling not everything will be fixed but things will change because this government ain't working and something has to give and it will be FF/FG won't have the monopoly of our faith anymore. Thank god
Whether USC and LPT are a good or a bad thing?
You don't have an opinion on that because you would have to come off the fence.
absolutely, ffg's time is done
We are all well aware a that but most are so tired of this government and the next vote will prove that. Simple fact
...if you think sf are gonna wonder in, wave magic wands, and start providing all with all, you better think again, thats whats not gonna happen!
I'm just going to annoy everyone well not everyone and say I can't wait to see the back of FF/FG and bring on a change with SF. And too hell with the Greens the most hypocritical party that have ever been formed. Blunt stubborness from SF will get the ball rolling again and less arse licking.
You just can't help yourself
You were responding to a post I made this morning, poor attempt to drag mc entee in.
And searched another thread, completely unrelated to this thread to make a jibe,
Classy
Which policy...the one where they (government parties) proposed it as a temporary tax, or the one where they presented their policy as 'promising to get rid of it'?
