Agreed 👍
Will it last 2 years? John Lee editor of the Daily Mail was on, on the record with Gavan Reilly Sunday saying all the huddles around leinster house latley are SF and FF TDs together not FF/FG like has been since the Govt was formed.
He gave this as a reason in his opinion why Leo has went on attack mode of SF latley
It's a really difficult one to predict, there's clearly growing tensions (how could there not be) but both FF & FG have created a mess , the Greens to a lesser extent, its seems to me they'll have no choice but to stick it out whilst spending the next two years trying to out do each other in apportioning blame. I think it's actually more likely Greens will pull out early in the dillusional hope they might rescue some reputation.
The real problem will be who cleans up this mess and how 🤔
They have two years to turn the tide. Unfortunately there don’t seem to be any appetite.
As long as they can make more money for themselves in than out, it will last.
The only slim chance of it falling asunder is if MM resigns after his tenure or he pulls out under some excuse, while really hoping to distance FF from FG.
Yeap, we might drop from Number 2 in the world to Number 3 in the world when it comes to the HDI.
🙄 We've already done that. We'll probably go a lot lower on this BS chart too before FFG are finished.
Oh no! Can someone explain how we dropped down these most when FFG are doing such a good job? The government need to prioritise this over everything be it the housing crisis, which some here say is not a crisis, the health crisis, again some say its not a crisis just lazy nurses because we have the highest nurse the bed ratio in the universe, even above people struggling to put the basics on the table because of inflation, but some on here say what problems because if everyone was struggling why are there queues at the airport.
I wonder if the most ambitious plans to date from Donnelly, McEntee and O'Brien can stop us dropping even further? It looks like Germany and Hong Kong are coming up right behind us, also Australia and Iceland, that would be embarrassing, but could you imagine the humiliation if Sweden were to overtake us too? 🤯
We could be down to 9th or 10th by this time next year and dropping. Will anyone speak to us ever again? How could we continue doing business with the EU? 😔
I hope that those ambitious plans - sorry, those most ambitious plans to date, can really turn things around.
"just 234 cost-rental homes have been delivered in the past 12 months, in stark contrast with a Government pledge to deliver 2,000 homes a year as part of the Housing For All plan"
"Although 350 cost-rental homes were expected to be delivered last year under plans unveiled in 2020 by Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien, just 65 were ultimately delivered before the end of 2021"
"The Government would need to deliver 1,411 costrental homes, or 89.3% of its target, in the next six month"
Darragh O Brien needs gone ASAP
The whole lot need gone, they were warned don't leave housing to the private market. They needed to deliver on housing to see past the next election if anything its worse and blaming outside factors isn't enough. Their should of been a semi state building company set up to deliver homes. Now we just have mad schemes like shared equity and subsidizing apartments at 144k a pop with no questions on affordability.
Housing for All going as expected
No matter how he's tried to twist, turn, do cartwheels, deflect, wait for report after report, spin and most recently bully his way out of Trouble, Darragh O Brien is an unmitigated disaster, But.......
Some have said its quite deliberate as he's really only trying to essentially ignore reality and permit FFG real agenda take hold, I'm actually starting to believe it, Surely no one could be this deliberately inept, could they 🤔
Housing is going to plan. Its get into power, make as much money as you can for as long as you can. Get a job with one of the people you sorted or slide over to a nice EU number and a pat on the head.
Be interesting to see who gets the contract for this
One name jumps out, The Maltese Falcon.
How's Ryan going to feel about disposal housing with a 16 year life span? Likely just motorboat stacks of pension cash.
They strongly disputed comments made about them by the Minister of State for Special Education.
They pointed to emails, Zoom meetings and site inspections had taken place up until last Friday.
Ms Madigan told RTÉ's Saturday with Katie Hannon that the four schools were "not engaging at all" with a request to open dedicated classes for children with special educational needs, and were "just ignoring correspondence".
Clarifying her remarks today and standing over them, the minister said it had been very clear the schools in question had been "ignoring the import of the correspondence".
Chaos
I listened to and actually watched the show and it was extraordinary, so bad was her performance and accusations, the Teacher organisations had a joint statement on Katie Hannon desk before show ended.
Josepha has an extraordinary ability to not just upset parents, but Teachers, Simon Harris gave a very insincere backing to the Minister on morning Ireland earlier.
What Josepha and the very Silent Norma Foley are not getting is the fact not only have the schools engaged they made it clear they have NO resources or facilities to cater for children with additional needs, Josepha deliberately and maliciously accused schools of refusing to engage and take these children in.
Disgusting behaviour from a government minister, Yet again 🙄
Yes, only 3rd best in the world. What a joke, we are a banana republic in the making! How dare FF and FG get us up to number two in the world only for us to drop back one place. We are truly a disgrace.
You are welcome to tender for it.
Be pointless if Dinny is putting one in.
Arrogance and incompetence.
Seems to a prerequisite to get a ministerial post in this government 😉
So are they trying to take credit for it?
By the way, it was a case of blink and you missed it. We seem to be nose-diving down now, and it actually is FFG who are responsible for that.
The private sector cannot deliver thanks to the constraints this lot of idiots have put in the way for years now- if it’s not the NIMBYs in various quangos objecting to developments, it’s the mountains of red tape and regulations that have piled costs into house building . Housing is undeliverable now. Any new ones here in Kilkenny are all €4-600k range. That’s some affordability alright
Be war over this yet- a few working people I know would gladly live in one of these if it got them sorted- they’ve been working and paying tax here for years and are stuck in the private rental trap. They’d gladly take a modular home or similar. To say that it won’t effect existing supply completely misses the point.
Anyone know if the smokey coal/turf ban is still comming in as planned for September?
It was before the eu for consultation until the end of may but not a thing has been seen or heard since the heated debate ryan caused over the banning of turf,
I would have thought Mr Ryan would be livid over houses only lasting 16 years. I'm interested and watching this space.
I personally couldn't give a Toss about Ryan's nonsense, passing the book over to the EU. Whatever about smokey coal, they'll not touch my Turf and FFG, no full well what will happen if they mess with Turf 😉
