The Right religious conservatives and who knows who else have today overturned the constitutional right to abortion in the US.
Will this now embolden anti abortionists in this country to fight back?
The US is a cold place for women now.
It'll be all good of course until someone whips a Koran out.
Why do you think what a woman does with her body has anything to do with you? Do you stick your nose in every issue that doesn't concern you?
you are berating women for taking responsibility and terminating an unwanted pregnancy.
you want them to suck it up and give birth, regardless of the womans circumstances.
you then tell them to stop being poor and just travel out-of-state to a place where they can get the procedure done.
tone deaf and unwilling to listen to women who don't want to continue a pregnancy
Theocracy.
Why do you think you speak for the women of the world? It's even more odd when you consider the fact that a sizable amount of American women are against abortion.
Why is treating women like the adults that they are considered hatred of women? Unless I'm missing something, that's one of them most bizarre takes I've came across on this site.
Poor black people tend not to be progressive left, that is a White middle class and up niche.
It isn't about a fall in abortion rates in the Appalachian mountains they are worried about.
Do tell then, how did Roe v Wade come into effect?
Also, I never said there was a comparison on how both the Irish and USA situations were arrived at - I've said it is quite similar where both are at now. Different journeys, same destination.
There's no comparison. One was a democratic referendum, whereas the bans in the US came about from changes of votes from nine people.
i hear ya!
And if you can't afford to go to another state?
You'd feel sorry for the women in their lives, if there are any.
the dems could pass a federal law allowing it nationwide but they're too busy trying to fundraise off it.
they could fix it right now but as usual they're too weak to help regular people
That's why people have abortions.
The ironing is delicious!
Texas doesn't prosecute women who leave the state for an abortion.
Ultimately, women who wish to avail of abortions in states where they are now illegal need to travel to other states where it is legal. Energy from activist groups might be best channeled to helping women who may have difficulty affording the travel expenses because overturning this decision is highly unlikely.
Well I find your opinions to be a disgusting display of misandry
Dont a number of states have laws, like in Texas, that prevent you leaving the state to have an abortion, like you can be charged with an offence when you return to Texas?
Mind your own business.
Bottom line.
What if you can't afford it? What if you get sued when you return by a neighbor for doing so (like in Texas.)
And, what if there's a national abortion ban and there are no states. Go to Canada? Mexico? Will you pay?
And remember, you've got maybe 6 months before you can't.
It is good to see you're all about forcing women and children to give birth. Just in case there was any doubt.
or in other words, we suffered so you will too.
Go to a state where its legal.
It's extremely straightforward. Some people only want to dwell. You have put forward a scenario and I have given you an avenue
disgusting misogyny imo
Parents from the previous generation - mine for sure - were in no financial position to have children, they still had them and they raised them perfectly.
Alternatively try not to get pregnant
Who is responsible for the child born to a teenager via incest? No abortion in that case?
Same story, but rape, where the rapist has been apprehended (at least). Again, no abortion in that case?
Take responsibility for your actions.
What if the pregnant person isn't an adult? They free to get an abortion by your "rules" (actually, just more GQP rehash from you.)
Anti-choice, not pro-life. They could care less whether the fetus lives or dies. It's the woman they want to control.
If the condom fails, the morning pill fails etc .
Well then I guess it's time to be a mammy. Take responsibility for your actions. I would argue what you are suggesting is running from the consequences of your actions
You'd swear they had to travel from the US to Germany in business class.
30 bob would get a return flight.
No point in arguing. The prolife side have nothing but derision for women that may choose to have an abortion. I thought their god was all about free will? They failed to win the battle for the hearts and minds of those women that have had abortions as they refer to women in similar manner to the Magdalene Sisters.
discontinuing a pregnancy when you're not in a financial position to have children is taking responsibility.
a lot of women don't have the means to travel to another state and pay for all the additional costs of an out-of-state abortion.
