I don't think it speaks to its inclusive nature. Sometimes I feel if I say anything or pass comment on the fact that it is actually an exclusive month dedicated to a minority, I am deemed a bigot which I am not. Discuss....🤔
And it's looking like there's a strong possibility the footage is from the solstice parade which has been happening since 1993.... Why are Ngo and co not going mad about this annual event. 😂
Two wrongs don't make a right.
And people of all ages would see both the Seattle and Cork cycle. It's during day time hours on a Saturday afternoon and a lot of people don't view it as that big a deal.
Here's a photo of the Seattle oneone from 2016.. There's clearly children present.
By the way, apparently the footage Ngo is likely from that cycle rather from than from pride btw. Here's another shot. So I guess the big question is are you okay? This cycle has been happening since 1993 btw.
Are you ok? I ask, because you seem to have ignored what I just said, and all but just repeated yourself again. So once again, the problem lies with the presence of young children
It's hardly an isolated incident when there's numerous examples of people wearing chapless pants, and general kink based stuff at many of these events.
So why aren't you outraged that multiple cities across the globe run naked cycles. That's including within Ireland. You're taking issue with a handful of people at a pride rally and saying I wonder what happens behind closed doors.
Meanwhile when it's pointed out that it's not isolated to pride and only happened the previous week in Seattle, you just ignore it. I would say you have an agenda. Nobody is getting outraged that such events have been running for years. And as a person from Cork, that cycle is viewed as pretty amusing more than anything else. If there are complaints, there's not many. Andy and you will be going on an outrage binge in August for it I assume.
You should start walking around naked then Mike; go into a playground, and see how that goes, seeing as it's all dandy.
Cycling around naked in public, no matter the context and particularily when young children are around - isn't appropriate. I am not sure why you want to die on this particular hill in defending it.
Except plenty of people are probably around the city that are unaware that there is a naked cycle and others do choose to watch it with their families. It's not likely to traumatise anyone. As a child, I was at plenty of beaches where people were naked and not remotely traumatised. And it's pretty relevant that this was the second week in a row where naked cycling occurred in Seattle. Yet because it was in a pride parade, people are being traumatised.
Mike, you know your missing an core element in your analysis? The presence of young children. As usual, you've to lie to yourself in the name of defending your faith. You seem to have no issue with old naked men standing feet away from young children which can be seen in the following clips. It's literally a crime too, but sure what harm, it's progressive, and progress is always good, isn't it?
A naked cycle happens annually in Cork and complete nudity is encouraged, in fact happens globally in around a hundred cities. I wonder what happens behind closed doors.... This years is August 27th. Weirdly you're not as infatuated with these events.
This happened in Seattle the previous weekend btw.
I was thinking the same, but it's Seattle, the state that allowed Communists and Anarchists to have their own enclave, so little will happen.
I'm no barrister but a quick Google of felony law in Washington states the following punishment for what they're doing:
Indecent liberties is a Class B felony. Maximum imprisonment for a term of 10 years, and/or fine of $20,000.
I'd like to see someone try pursue that though.
It's all down to personal interpretation then. You perceived as homophobic comments that other gay people did not regard as such.
Objective homophobia on the other hand would have been spotted by everyone, gay and not gay members
wow, you just dismissed my lived experience?
the double standards are real
Good for them, I'm also a gay person
Gay people who have posted in this thread didn't find homophobic comments, but you did
Yes there are but I'm not going to bother quoting them and rehashing arguments already had. They know themselves anyway. Anyhow looking forward to next year, onwards and upwards
Some people are rather "sensitive", and assign anything that's even remotely negative, or slightly critical as being homophobic. It's completely the wrong approach because it simply encourages intolerance but it is what it is.
TBH I find that it's usually people who are not LGB, but want to "defend" LGBTQ issues that are most prone to being so intolerant of such opinions.
I haven't seen anything that I would consider to be homophobic on the thread.. but then, I tend to reserve the word for more serious speech/behaviours.
No there has been none. Its OK to call everyone knuckle draggers and incels though
Were there many homophobic comments in this forum? Maybe I'm not reading those parts, but I didn't seem them. I did see some silly (IMHO) comments about having a "straight pride" parade also, but I don't know if that counts
I'm angry because of this.
Ordinary, decent LGBT-supporting people in this country feeling that they're being overwhelmed with the narrative of the fact they need to do more / support more / prove they are "allies"-kind of thing. You're right, too, as this is what's happening.
As an LGBT person myself, I'm concerned that people like you will develop a silent but growing hostility to the community, and maybe even gay people themselves, because of the behaviour of a minority who are pushing this hard in people's faces.
All of us will get tarred with the same brush.
I don't know it's been touch and go
You poor thing. How do you cope?
you could call them and ask how to remove it, i'm not being smart i'm serious.
Unless people start talking, this isn't going away
What actual impact does it have in your ability to use the app? The fact pride colours and such being displayed upsets ye so much is pretty funny...
I suggest you ask them.
I'm fed up of it anyway. Why does my banking app have pride colours on it now?
Is Pascal Donohoe "out"?
Nothing then.
Having had the unfortunate need to do time sensitive business in the city yesterday, we really need to look at all the parades and protests that we allow to close the city centre.
